speaking of fov and jp games...
binary domain had individual fov sliders for aiming and not aiming.
soo good.

I don't think the FOV was bad in the first place from the videos I've seen etc.

Nope, just a fan-made fix.
They didn't but someone made an FOV tool and I used that for my play-through.

Probably because you don't have a display that outputs higher than 1080p? I don't, but I can see why this is an issue with the people who do.1080p 60fps with graphics settings sounds fine to me. I'm not seeing the huge deal here.

Is this a limit of the engine or a design choice Kojima?
Yup I said it.

This is fine for me.
Resolutions greater than 1080P severely curtail performance.
The performance to visual fidelity trade off is not worth it IMO.

Regarding the discussion about the response to this news: I agree in some ways the response can seem hyperbolic. If it's a good game, then it's probably still a good game in 1080p just like it is in 1440p.
With that said, I think there is a component of the PC Gaming landscape that many of the uninitiated don't instinctively appreciate; unlike most console gamers or handheld gamers or even iOS gamers, PC Gamers are on their own. There is no daddy Sony looking out for the platform to maintain quality control, no Microsoft providing a unified Xbox Live experience and looking out to make sure consumers are satisfied.
Forget 1080p for a moment -- you can release broken games which literally will not open on the PC and in many cases the only recourse for the consumer is to warn other consumers to stay away. This is the nature of an open platform; there is no international corporate conglomerate guiding us along. If there is to be a guide, it will have to the consumers themselves. They will need to speak up much more loudly and proactively than do other groups of gamers if they want to have an effect on publisher behavior.
Ultimately, I think this is neither a knock on Konami or PC Gamers. I can understand why Konami and Platinum aren't instant experts producing perfect PC ports -- neither are long time PC stalwarts -- and I can understand why PC Gamers are reacting the way they are. If they don't respond loudly and clearly, how else will Konami learn? Again, there's no huge company there to help Konami along; if the gamers themselves don't speak up, then no one will.
.....After the PC community bitched about it, because initially it didn't have either of those.
This is fine for me.

Adjustable fov made Mars: War Logs a much more pleasant game to play.still better than most folks lol, thats even more surprising that they reacted.
But it is BD that i realized that high fov for 3rd person is just weeeeird.
I hate those so much, Human Revolution is going to be unplayable at higher resolutions and at 1080p the HUD was already getting kind of small, you can barely make out the numbers on the item bar. Scale it uuuuup. You understand! Haha, non-scaling UIs are the bane of my existence.
Being a third person character action game I don't think this is an issue, or even an expectation. The lack of camera tweaking does suck though because as anyone who's played the game can tell you the camera is one of the weakest things about it; goes completely haywire at times.
but I definitely believe Platinum should be informed what people want even if it's a minority.
I absolutely have, not even that long ago in fact. It's a completely acceptable compromise when you are looking for a playable framerate on sub-standard hardware. You may think it "looks like utter shit" but that's because your spoiled and have peculiar standards. You would rather no one play one of the most enjoyable games of the year because you have a non-standard sized monitor? Get a grip?I would rather no port at all. I have a 1440P monitor. Playing at 1080P is not even an option. Have you ever played anything in non-native resolution? It looks like utter shit.
I don't buy in to this whole "cut them some slack" bullshit. By doing this, all you are doing is enabling them to perpetuate their poor business practices in the future.
Another shitty port then.
What is it with Japanese games and lousy PC ports?
1080P lock is unaccaptable for PC gamers.

yup, PC gamers like to tinker. Let them tinker.because PC gaming is about playing with graphic configuration you want, not what the game is arbitrarily limited to.
This kind of attitude is just useless garbage.

Actually it's this game that is useless garbage if it comes out without any fixes to the issues presented in this thread, stop eating so much shit just because you're told to like it and have a mind of your own.
Here it is folks, a primary example of elitism.
And what's wrong with gaming at 1080p?
Jesus Christ, you people complain about anything.
Here it is folks, a mindless drone willing to eat anything that lands on his plate.
To be fair looking through the thread you're both unhelpful terrible posters. Here it is folks, a primary example of elitism.

You know it's completely fine to dislike the situation but the delivery here just casts you in a terrible light. Here it is folks, a mindless drone willing to eat anything that lands on his plate.
I guess it is just that I have never understood the whole "resolution demand" thing.
To me when it comes to graphics there are two things of primary consideration:
Settings and performance. I'm more concerned about advanced graphics functions and maintaining a good framerate. Resolution is more of a secondary concern.
1080P, for me, allows for great graphical presentation without the trade-off of performance suffering that comes with these crazy resolutions like 4K.
Its hard to even imagine maintaining stable performance at that resolution with most demanding games today. Even with monster rigs.
I already tweeted the information, but I sent you a PM with what's necessary to do (IF everything we've heard so far is true and there's been no miscommunication of the facts) in hopes that we can get this whole situation sorted out before release.Absolutely. As part of my job on the Social Media team is to listen to the fans and try to communicate it back to the developers. Please, I would hate anyone to shy away from giving us constructive feedback, and wholehearted recommend commenting on our Facebook posts and sending me direct messages here or tagging us on twitter, @Konami.

Let people with better rigs see that for themselves, there's no excuse for locking the resolution, not even this "lack of experience" crap.OK OK OK fair enough.
Perhaps I wasn't taking other people's needs under consideration.
I apologize for that. I guess it is just that I have never understood the whole "resolution demand" thing.

Finished building it today, $18,000 machine.
i7-4960X, 64GB DDR3 2400Mhz RAM, 4 x GTX780 Ti's, 4 x 512GB Samsung 840 EVOs in RAID, 4 x 3TB HDD, etc etc...
My home PC is more than capable(i7-3930k, 2 x MSI Lighting GTX680s) but hopefully there will be a mod in the future to make 4K doable.
Would you be happy if a PS4 game was locked at 480p resolution?
The game isn't running in 720p, it's an issue but it's not the end of the world, calm your tits.Actually it's this game that is useless garbage if it comes out without any fixes to the issues presented in this thread, stop eating so much shit just because you're told to like it and have a mind of your own.
Well that is true for Dark Souls too but that was adjusted by our resident PC wizard, do people with the source code should be able to implement it if it isn't already.I think the fact that supported resolutions are hardcoded practically confirms that some elements of the game's HUD/menus are positioned absolutely.
I mean, what else could it be?
