Live countdown to major Persona team announcement from Atlus [Summary in OP]

So, final platform predictions? I'm leaning towards it being a PS4 or maybe Vita exclusive for the time being. They're the only realistic options that could be considered unexpected, as new entries in the mainline Persona series have never appeared this early in a new console's lifecycle, nor on a handheld.

Shouldn't we be more worried about how much they are ready to reveal?

I'll cackle if it's a Persona 5 thirty-seconds CG teaser with no release window.

Either Cross-Gen PS4/PS3 or PS3/Vita.

I'm having a very hard time seeing this hit the PS4 any time soon. If anything, I'd say PS3 is a given and maybe Vita or WiiU.

What I want :- PS4/Vita

What I expect:- PS3/Vita

What will happen:- IOS

OK, am I right? If it's the announcement itself, maybe it'll be worth adding to the OP or something?

To be serious though the best evidence this isn't on iOS is the fact that most iOS games are announced and released simultaneously or with a relatively small amount of teasing (such as a rather crappy website).

I've never heard of someone have a 64 day countdown to an iOS game, even for the biggest iOS games in existence.

Pachislot machines are similar in that they are just announced and available to order shortly after since they are just sold to casinos and then the casinos handle a lot of the advertising from there.

Whoever heard of a pending CERO rating for a Pachislot machine?

I'm not expecting tomorrow's announcement to include PS4, because looks like nobody is announcing PS4 games in Japan after the event in September, there wasn't any announcement before that event and after E3 either other than Wonderflick port I think?

So if it was a PS4 related announcement I think it should've been presented there or in some event closer to launch, unless it was supposed to and things got pushed back because of Index.

gut feeling and all that, otherwise I think there should have been more PS4 announcements from others too, surely the pitiful list of games announced in September isn't everything that's coming up...

Serious talk. Because Persona 4 was the peak of the video game medium I feel like Persona 5 can't not be worse. Hopefully still amazing though.

That's all I'm thinking about leading up to this.

There is going to be some sort of Persona 3-related announcement. There has to be. There's been more than a bit of hinting about it on here, and given the first movie just came out, there's no way ATLUS won't capitalize.

I expect a P5 announcement, too.

Those are both certainties. Beyond that - a third announcement, platforms, whatever - I couldn't begin to predict.

Rhythm Game!

Come the hell on guys..

I'd be all over a Theatrhythm style music game using SMT/Persona tracks.

Or even better, an Ouendan/EBA style game. With various demons/personas running around doing stuff in place of the cheerleaders/agents.

I'm not expecting a lot more than that honestly. I just want to see the setting, maybe listen to the theme song and see how the characters look like.

So, the post-announcement "talk show" thing is an hour and a half later? I doubt the reveal will be an hour and a half long.

Isn't it possible to put out a pachislot-like game on consoles?

It is.

They don't sell very well though these days, so it would make more sense as an f2p mobile game.

F2P MMO full of microtransactions!

I know you're joking, however, within five years I'd be fairly surprised if we didn't have several online f2p Atlus titles given it's a major part of Sega's business model, but for this particular reveal, it's clearly a product that was in development before the takeover.

We know from Sega's statements that they intend to make Atlus branded home console games (this announcement presumably), mobile and online PC games (Atlus did some of this already, but I suspect Sega will do a better job with it), and Pachislot machines (I suspect Sammy would mostly handle this and announce them with zero fanfaire for the previously stated reasons).

Given the context of all of this however, I think anyone who is worried probably shouldn't be, since the idea is that you have a strong base product for core consumers (for example, Persona 5), and then use its brand power to drive the success of categories 2 and 3.

The Company believes that transfer of Index’s operations to SEGA will create synergies, on the grounds that the deal will enable the Company to:

(1) gain access to prominent IPs in the home video game software, through which the Company can expect to achieve steady flows of revenue;

(2) expect further facilitation of revenue growth for the PC Online Game Business and Content Business for Smart Devices operated by SEGA and SEGA Networks Co., Ltd. by exploiting acquired prominent IPs

(3) maximize the value of acquired IPs by effectively deploying them in the Pachislot and Pachinko Machines segment, Amusement Machine Sales and Amusement Center Operations segments.
