Have you guys actually played through the demo mission with different operatives?

I love how much the gameplay and strategy can change depending on who im using.

I really like alabama right now, because of his secondary weapon and his commentary as well.

awesome headshots too.

When I downloaded the demo, a "socom: fireteam bravo" feeling hit me..and I loved that game. I thought multiplayer was too fun.

I deleted the demo and stopped myself from playing because I wanted to wait for the full game. Didn't want to spoil myself too much, hehe.

Keep playing the demo, i heard the your stats from the demo transfer over to the full game.

The OP should cover each of the operatives and the unlock system that goes into the game. Its a lot deeper then you first realize.

Apparently some stores were breaking release date on this game.

I pre-ordered it so I can play it on my friends Vita, can't wait.

Definitely looking forward to this. Terrorist hunt mode in Rainbow Six games is one of my favorite things ever, and this game looks to be just a bunch of tango hunt levels.

Hopefully there's an option to tweak or tone down the sticky aim, however, as I felt it was a bit too strong in the demo. Either way, day one purchase.

It is but I have no translation yet. Will have to re-DL the demo to check them out and try and extract some bits unless someone wants to do it. Slow internet and 1GB+ DL do not fare well for me.

To me it's got all the makings of a solid portable title. Plenty of missions varying in length, leader boards, daily challenges (reminds me of Daily tournaments on EG) online co op. I wonder if it has co op leader boards? That would be fun teaming with a mate to try and get high scores. Stuff to unlock, levelling up.

More importantly I liked how it handled. It didn't go overboard with the touch screen controls and the gunplay felt satisfying to me. For some reason I wasn't impressed when I looked at footage and it wasn't on my radar but the demo changed my mind.

So next Thursday it's mine! Possibly wednesday as on the odd occasion I have actually received games 2 days early from shopto.

Now who's up for some co op next week?

It's a shame there's no online versus mode.

As well, Zipper is committed towards creating unique daily challenges for at least a year.

I hope they have the tools in place to make some really creative challenges. I'd love if when Gravity Rush (for example) comes out you have challenges where the gravity keeps getting messed up or something like that that. I hope its not just "today do mission 12 with character b"

Trophy list has been up for a while. 44 trophies. Yes, there is a platinum. I would have posted them but I don't know how you do that thing with the spoiler tags. Still new to these forums, lol.

Yeah I'm hoping there varied. Committed to challenges for 1 year? That does sound promising but again not if its just a different character doing a different mission each day.

I've only played the demo once. I tend to do that with most demos. I know I'm not spoiling the full release by playing the demo multiple times but I like to just have a quick taster and then that's it. I think the more I play a demo the more I start looking for faults which is totally anal so I refuse to play it again! Lol

It's [spoiler.] [/spoiler.] without the periods

I doubt there's anything worth spoiler tagging in Unit 13 anyway

Loser slave of the system :(
The daily challenges make me sort of wish I went with a 3G Vita. I'm stoked regardless. Just hope the final game actually runs properly.

Appreciate that.

Trophies here:
http://www.8bitfix.com/content/ps-vita-s-unit-13-trophies-revealed-3848/

6 characters to choose from:

Ringo (Spy)
Alabama (Sniper)
Animal (Assult)
Chuckles (Specialist)
Python (Heavy Weapons)
Zeus (Scout)

Famitsu has great pictures of each character you can use. I think someone else posted a link to it.

I have the link but the translations are rough. I'm going to bed in a minute so I will have to do it tomorrow as I can't edit the thread like I want while on the Vita in bed.

IF that info becomes available, a PM would be appreciated. I would also prefer images without the Famitsu stamps on them. Not that those couldn't be edited out easily.

I'm there with this game. I felt The Club was one of the must underappreciated games out there. This is like a greatly refined and varied version of it. Just what I'm looking for.

Folks saying the game is shallow shouldn't approach it as a campaign shooter or a mutliplayer COD. This looks like an arcade game; it's score attack basically with some co-op.

It's perfect and compact for the portable space. Feels arcadey while retaining many aspects which makes the tactical shooter nuts drool a little. I'm sure we will get our story driven campaign based shooters soon. Resistance looks to fit that bill and it's due in a couple of months.

I enjoyed The Club. It was pretty addictive with its score mechanics and I always had that 1 more go feeling to try and better my score. Hopefully this will be the same and will give it some legs. Be interesting to replay missions using a different approach and seeing how your score differs etc.

Like others and myself have mentioned this is a perfect kind of game for a portable system. Don't get me wrong I like my campaign shooters but I really enjoyed The Club as it was a break from the norm.

I paid this off today and used the $10 off coupon I got, can't wait. I also got $20 off Lego Harry Potter, so I'm getting two Vita games next week to add to my collection of 7 so far. Can't wait to play this co-op, feels like The Club meets SOCOM, and I absolutely love The Club.

Not sure if posted but this is the first I heard about this (even though it was posted in December, lol):

Special boss missions, dubbed "High Value Target" missions are accessible only if you gain a lot of stars for scoring highly in missions. This is weird, but cool: If someone on your friends list or someone who is physically nearby unlocks one of these missions, you get a single opportunity to play it, too. That offer expires in a set period of time (24 hours, perhaps), and you only get one crack at it. If you succeed, it remains unlocked.

So much talk of The Club and I didn't know anything about it until I looked it up just now. Ahh..I can see why people compare the 2. It was developed by Bizzard Creations? The same people who made the highly addictive geometry wars? I may need to give this game a try one day.

As a quick word of caution though, be sure to keep the demo on your system until you’ve started up the full game at least once. If you delete the demo file your progress will go with it, so keep the demo until you’ve picked up the full game. Once you’ve played the full version once then you’ll be fine to delete the demo.

I like the shooters but the trailer and the demo messing up Vitas make the game seem kind of mediocre. Will keep an eye on reviews.

I'm guessing there's 0 character appearance customization?

Wow this OT came out of nowhere. Can't believe I missed it. Considering getting this with MLB with Toys R Us's sale next week.

Thanks for the heads up. I just realized you can play the first level for each of the characters. I am starting to like this game the more I play the demo.

Anyone in NA who wants a good ol' SOCOM player as a coop buddy, please add "demolitio" on PSN. I think this game makes me want to expand my friends list more than any other game on the Vita. I also will use the mic (if we have a choice since one is built in anyway?). I'm a fan of the more tactical style of play so I use stealth mostly as if I was playing SOCOM or Splinter Cell.

So with the bluetooth in the Vita, does that allow me to use my official PS3 headset on the Vita?

The demo was fun, jaggies weren't that bad most of the time. The lack of GA's gyro aiming and the low framerate makes aiming feel cumbersome, though. The part where you walked through steam/fog felt like walking through molasses.

I don't have someone local with a Vita and I'm not the leaderboard kind of guy, so I'll wait for SP length and fun impressions before buying it or not.

I don't know if anybody asked before, but why not call it SOCOM?

Have you seen how the majority of the SOCOM community is over the franchise? SOCOM 4 is a piece of shit in the community's eyes because it changed too much and there's no way you'd expect them to be fine with a portable game that has NO multiplayer besides coop or not a dedicated campaign. It'd start up an even bigger shitstorm and it might just be worth it to have it as a new launch IP.

Personally, I see Unit 13 as an experiment of Zipper's to see what works and what doesn't on the Vita and to get their feet wet with the hardware so they can learn from this game and apply it to a SOCOM game in the future. FTB4 would be an AWESOME announcement since the previous games were good but the lack of a second stick limited them. Imagine a competitive SOCOM game on the go and it's enough to make any fan drool.

To call it a SOCOM game would require more content, especially competitive MP. I wouldn't have a problem with it but I think they did the right thing in not calling it that. Remember that MAG was once called a SOCOM game but they learned it was best not to call it that either, lol.

The SOCOM community is damn crazy and I think I lose my sanity when I'm on the game's forum to the point where I stopped posting. Hell, 3 of my clanmates were one of the 18 to be the first people outside of Zipper to play SOCOM 4's MP and we always had a big presence but that place drove us away basically. I just wish they had more S4 DLC to keep us going.

Unit 13 |OT| It's SOCOM but not SOCOM
