Amazon censoring Titanfall reviews - Must hit dat 5 stars rating.

All of the negativity and drama surrounding Titanfall is absolutely embarrassing.

We should be CELEBRATING new IP from an indie developer that people are enjoying, regardless of platform.

What the fuck is wrong with some people?!?

Not an indie developer, but it is their first game if im not mistaken.

I used to find the reviews on Amazon to be immensely helpful with my purchasing decisions. With this, Amazon has lost my trust, and EA/Microsoft has lost my respect. What an embarrassment.

Why are you immediately believing this? You know, instead of being a bit more rational about it?

I would hardly call them "indie", they made a AAA FPS and it is published by EA (which clearly also controls
at least what systems it comes out on).

Reviews on Amazon can be voted on. If it gets enough "no" votes it gets removed.
This happens to EVERY GAME ON AMAZON.

Ahaha I'm glad someone gets it. The same exact thing has happened across consoles and high profile games, (Halo 4?) it's like nobody in this thread actually cares to look at what's exactly happening and are quick to blame somebody.

Dude. Please. You really think that deleting good and bad reviews, though their 'anti-trolling algorithm, somehow equals a lost of trust? Are you always this high?

Wows, amazon just got abit crappier depending on whether or not this turns out ta be agenda-driven. On the flipside didn't this game like just come out yesterday? Why're people reviewing a game they've had their hands on for a day or two at most? "omg just finished installing the game its installation music was epic 5 stars !!!" I mean nuking first impression-esque "reviews" is still crappy but so are the reviews themselves >.>

they should be removed from all of amazon, verified purchases with shipped item and also 30 days of ownership would be awesome if amazon went with it.

Basically what I posted earlier, minus the 30 day ownership. Just make all reviews from Verified Purchasers, PERIOD! If someone wants to glorify or shit on a product they paid for, I can respect that.

Correction: they didn't have it to begin with. Even so, this is par for course.
Hm... So we can just blame whoever we want to now?

It surprised me at first that a lot of the fanboy hate infected this board in regards to this game. But now it's just kind of expected.

Ooo shit. There's a slight possibility I might had opened pandaras box, by putting this issue into the spotlight, the product might be spammed with 1 stars reviews just for revenge. What have I done?

It's sad I can't tell if some of the people in this thread are actually serious about the idea of some sort of corporate sabotage here as opposed to an easy abusable review/complaint system. But of course anything Microsoft-related has to be some nefarious plot.

Read the 1-star reviews. Only one of them really reads like a troll, others are genuinely upset over the lack of campaign and singleplayer.

And they didn't know that before buying the game? If you like single player content you should know to skip the game, otherwise you're just trolling.

Illegitimate reviews get removed. So do multiple reviews from the danger source. There could be censorship happening, but a lot of reviews of all star levels were removed.

Indeed it would be nice if only verified reviews were allowed.

Just look at the ps4/xbone console reviews. Its funny.

But I didn't think Amazon remove reviews. That really the only news thing here to me. Very strange...

They've been doing that for a while. They got a lot of heat a couple of years ago for their change in policies surrounding authors/writers, in which tons of reviews got taken down. Authors were reviewing other author's books; some with good intentions and well thought out reviews, and others obviously trying to bring down the reputation of their competition. It's such a murky area, since an action taken to try improve the integrity of reviews was seen as censorship to most and an effort to increase review scores (when negative reviews were removed).

It looks like the reviews are back? Or are people furiously reposting?

I can't believe Amazon would have such a dumb system. Any company could just hire like 10 guys and thumbs down any review to get it removed then.

I don't know the inner workings of Amazon's system, but I'd be very surprised if there wasn't some sort of abuse threshold that gets reviews auto-whacked that's probably a function of the number of reports and the age of review/speed of abuse reports. It'd make most sense to move them to a manual review queue, where things like 10 dudes from a single IP or obviously non-spam reviews being flagged could be dealt with.

But even the Verified Purchasers system can be rigged by placing an order, cancelling it and then immediately creating a review. People that want to game the system will find a way. The system Amazon currently has isn't perfect, but its probably the best way to handle customer reviews.

This, at least to me, is why text based game impressions are obsolete and why gaming videos need to be embraced by developers, publishers and gamers alike. It's not flawless, but it's a lot more reliable than some faceless stranger's written word.
A well written opinion can go a lot further, but maybe I'm just not somebody that feels they can get enough from merely watching. Than again my favorite games tend to be RPGs or other games where a short video simply isn't enough.

EDIT: and I'd really rather not watch a protracted video, half because that's boring and half because I'd rather go in as fresh as possible.

Reposting and internet revenge.

Waging a console war in the user/customer review section has never made sense to me.

The user/customer review sections are usually the frontlines of the console war. It's the only place on the internet, where narrow-minded opinions have some kind of impact on something.

Honestly the whole thing is pointless and I don't understand why it is getting attention. Any smart buying could read into this bullshit and I predict that the same thing will happen with Infamous Second Son's release. It is just fanboyism on "both" keyword "both" sides.

Don't think so. Based on this:
Now they only have one 1 star review, six 3 star reviews, four 2 star reviews, and 64 5 star reviews. They are editing the shit out of these reviews right now for one reason or another, that is for sure.

At one point it was down to a single 1 star review. I can currently see multiple one-star reviews with comments from this morning, PDT, which means that they must have been pulled and reinstated.

Jesus Christ, if that was the case why do they have such a high amount of thumbs ups and thumbs downs? As a person who has Prime and is on Amazon reviews constantly, I can tell you that reviews are automatically pulled down if they are thumbed down enough or marked as spam. Until the post is up for review its in limbo. Enough with this Revenge Conspiracy, it happens with every console and game out there. I'm really frustrated that people don't actually take the time to comprehend what they're seeing.

Or are they just removing illegitimate reviews?

Seems pretty fishy of an OP, TBH, seems pretty desperate to infer malicious intent without questioning the system. If true, yeah it's fucking nasty, but EA/MS being in Amazon's pockets is an even stranger proposition. People do really like to graft narratives to these situations though.

So, are all the reviews coming back now? It just went from a single 1 star review up to like 35.

I noticed the number of reviews are being populated quickly. Either some reviews are being "reinstated" or people are writing reviews literally THAT QUICK.

Yea, I'm actually pretty sure a lot of the more mainstream audience will be pretty surprised when they find the game is a glorified paperweight without an internet connection. I'm sure a lot of people didn't know that the game is pretty barebones.

It says what it is on the box.

and they're morons who deserve what they get if they're too stupid to know what they are buying.

They also removed one 5 star.

I think they remove it if it says anything negative. Even if it's 5 stars

That's what I understood from the OP

Yes not only is it completely useless without servers working it's also a pretty light package. That "campaign" should not be called that. It's a bit misleading if you ask me
