Naw. Shu just tweets like that. If there were no dimming he would probably have just responded with. "No."
I know but I love Shu's tweets. He's had some real gems in the last year or so
ass news
I think it's pretty clear why they don't disable the light completely: You wouldn't know if the controller is on or not. The DS4 has no other status LEDs beside the lightbar.
This is actually offensive to be honest, that they would assume their consumer base is more ignorant than a toddler and unable deduce why inputs aren't registering.
What do you mean?
If the controller is controlling, that's what tells you.
I don't even understand your point.Except that some customers are more ignorant than toddlers and they help create support tickets which drives up costs.

you all f'in crack me up. laughing so hard at work right now.
such a pointless thing to get angry about lol. I dunno, I must have a super LED reflection resistant screen or something because ive never once seen the bar on my screen and now it is right at controller level at our new house. Not mounted anymore. Still can't see anything lol.
But hey, whatever. Do continue to provide the comedy.

Do they come off perfectly? We need the light bars for VR.
Go back to Once Upon a Time, and live your fairytales, Charming...
"I am not a crook"
#If they can dim it, they can bin it.Has anyone pulled a DS4 apart to see if the device is wired such that the light can be turned off? I really don't see Sony refusing to budge on this at this point and I'm starting to wonder if the DS4 is designed such that it's impossible to prevent the LED getting power. Particularly with talk now of allowing dimming of the LED.
You just answered your own question.
It's supposed to be ambient light that you see in your peripheral vision, not aimed at your face blinding you or requiring you to look down at it to see what color it is.
Think of it as a form of those ambilight TVs.
There is a light that never goes out
You also need an easy indication that it's ON. It's why they should've added a few extra lights, or at least lit up the PS button within reason.Personally I think it's because they are trying to get developers to use it. If you can turn if off completely devs will be more likely to be "f- this"
There is a LOTR Image/GIF for all things
I don't think being able to turn it OFF completely is actually a good idea. It's really the only indicator you have of player 1, player 2, or whether the controller is even on.
I'm sure you'll be able to dim it quite a bit, but Sony will probably never allow it to be completely turned off.
