This is even bigger than the PS3 clock fix and I never thought such a thing was even possible.

Geoff, you incompetent cockbite. You had one job.
an option would be great and personally hate the look of lightbar but this isnt a solution because if u pick the 'off' option u wouldnt know which controller is which. ms has an elegant solution in this regards but im not sure how sony can incorporate a solution given the current ds4 design. best we can hope for is dim im afraidController Options
->Light Bar
-->On
-->Off
-->Dim

You just answered your own question.
It's supposed to be ambient light that you see in your peripheral vision, not aimed at your face blinding you or requiring you to look down at it to see what color it is.
Think of it as a form of those ambilight TVs.
I'm right there with you bro. I usually turn off the lights when I game since I can see the reflection of my ceiling fan in my 65"No kidding. And WHAT GOOD IS A LIGHT THAT IS TURNED AWAY FROM YOU.
That's the thing. I play with a projector and that fucking controller light lights up the whole room. It drives me insane.
I want that thing dead. Dead, dead, dead. Did I mention how much I'm looking forward to spending some seat time on my new Xbone the next few weeks, and not have to pretend that there's a carnival coming through my theater room? When I have up to three DS4s going at once, I feel like I'm at a rave. Fuck that controller. Just god damn.
That uses the gyroscope, not the light. I have no camera and type messages that way all the time.
That has nothing to do with the lightbar, it just uses the internal gyro.
What? That's not using the light, that's using the motion/gyroscope in the controller.

Ya options suckI like dimming more than turning it completely off.
You keep the effects of having it on, but also expand battery life.
This is actually better.

Nobody wants this. It serves no useful purpose.
And to people who can't figure out which controller is whose without it; please let me worry about that. But they could add functionality to light the bar up if you shake the controller, I suppose.
There is a light that never goes out

@geoffkeighley no, I said dim the LED, not turn off

ass news
I think it's pretty clear why they don't disable the light completely: You wouldn't know if the controller is on or not. The DS4 has no other status LEDs beside the lightbar.
What do you mean?Pretty much. It's unrealistic to expect them to allow full I/O when there is no other way to detect whether the controller is on, off, or dead.
Do they come off perfectly? We need the light bars for VR.I am telling you guys.. buy those labels you can get off ebay. I put the PS4 logos on my controllers and they work great to block out the light.
