So wait, the entirety of reaper of souls is already on my hard drive?
There will be no extra patch? I can be already in the game at midnight and it will just activate on their end?

awesome

If all goes right, yes :x

I'll be there at 11 CST to try and plow through 60-70 but I wager nothing will work tonight.

Patch 2.0 was basically reaper of souls with parts turned off until launch / if you didn't own it. It has been there for weeks.

As long as it doesn't disconnect me and has me going through hoops (read: authentication servers). Shit was unbearable during D3 launch.

Well I only got to Paragon level 20, and most of my guys aren't capable of doing much more than T3 or so, but I did manage to hit 60 on every class before tonight. As someone earlier in the thread mentioned my first characters all have 60+ hours on them and the wizard I started from scratch and solo leveled last week hit 60 in 12 hours. It's kind of depressing.

I don't entirely know who I want to take up to 70 first. I played a lot of Monk in the old game, I just don't know if I love the 2.0 monk changes. Mine was built to be indestructible for the old school inferno grind (tons of LOH and defensive skills) and I didn't really play him enough to know how they play with the loot 2.0 changes. So he can live through anything but his kill times are terrible at the moment.

Decisions, decisions.

I'll probably just level my WD or the Wizard first. I feel like Range is probably better before I get some good melee drops. One thing is for sure. I need to remember to re-enable cutscenes so I don't inadvertently skip all of Act V dialogue

Anyone have opinions on the current state of the witch doctor?

I find him frustrating, as you pretty much have nothing except AOE. And Firebats seems to be the best skill for just doing damage by a good amount.

Poison darts are usually on my left click, but there is little point to using them the majority of the time.

WD has a lot of fun looking skills. But most of them seem almost useless when i can just spam firebats all day...

Trying to decide if I should get the collector's edition because I love collector's editions, especially Blizzards, or not. I have the original Diablo 3 still sealed and that is what I would do with the expansion as well but I am wondering how limited it will be.

Level the Wizard, they're insanely OP in ROS.

Don't buy them based on how limited they might or might not be, only buy it if you actually want the contents of it IMO.

I just bought the digital copy. Not sure if I am going to even try playing tonight. I have to wake up at 6AM on Tuesday morning for work. My ARPG addiction tells me, yes I should stay up and play but my normal sober self says that the servers will definitely have issues and that loss of sleep is not worth it when I won't even be able to play.

Firebats w/ the Vamp Bats rune + the Fetish Sycophants passive is the backbone for a pretty great summon build. Been running it for a few weeks and enjoy it. Pair it with Spirit Walk/Garg/Mass Confusion/BBV and it's great.

two things...

a) don't try to speculate on CEs... you will get burned more often than not.
b) traditionally blizz expansion CEs past WOTLK haven't really been limited affairs. cata, panda and swarm are all still available. only blizz non-expacs seem to be limited. and even SC2 stuck around at near retail price for like 2 years.

I just switched to vampire bats... am used to clickclickclickclickclickclickclick of these games so I am clicking the shit out of the bats and wondering why the HELL I am constantly oom... I then read the description where it says "initial cost" and decide to just hold the button down............. mother f%^$........

I don't even use a signature ability except spider queen since that's just free 15 seconds of damage that also functions as a hound dog towards more enemies. Fire bats with the rune to eliminate channeling cost makes it basically usable all the time. It also has a chance to proc a fetish every second with that passive ability even if you don't hit any enemies. You can basically gear up for a boss fight with 4-7 fetishes then drop a totem to watch them beat ass.

Also you can get free dogs by using the "chance to summon zombie dogs" passive then switching it out when you get 3 of them. That frees up another skill slot for something else. Like locusts. I usually start with the locusts then firebats after throwing a spider queen. The class is good and very damaging, and the pets are actually worthwhile now and don't die very often. I'll usually die before my pets do and that's quite a drastic change from how it used to be for the class.

I understand what you are saying but it's the obsessive collector in me. I don't ever intend to sell any of my games but I like to know that I have games in the best condition they can be in and sealed is the top of that. I now buy the collectors to keep sealed and then buy the standard edition(or digital collectors if I want the content) to play.

I have never played around with the sycophants. I may do that.

Considering you can have a small army of them, they take plenty of damage, they even DISH OUT plenty of damage. Only started playing WD last week and I love this build.

Why is that better than just creating a new game and selecting act V ?

Good point. I figured this is what I was gonna do since I reset quests the other day and haven't killed Diablo yet. But someone a few posts ago said that everyone and their mothers will be trying to create a new game tonight, which is a good point, so killing Diablo before 9pm and then staying in the game to transition into Act V will be the best thing to do.

Just got a mail from the retailer I ordered my collector's edition from, that I might not get my package tomorrow because the Nuclear Summit is taking place in my country. Thanks Obama!

They made piggies super-viable again, which is great since I main WD. Fetish Army is amazing at bodyblocking, tanking, and critting for super-high numbers, while a summoning giant zombie that hits for 2 million while the Elite is trying to wiggle past all the piggies is hilarious.

I wasn't a big fan of the dogs at all. Their damage is so low compared to fetishes/garg. I prefer to just use those two and then run with Zombie Wall/Offensive line for crowd control. Definitely lots of options though.

As for Garg I usually rune him so that he does massive damage for 15 seconds. I usually alternate popping Mass Confusion/BBV runed for damage and then use Garg on top of that as I encounter elites. Garg destroys them.

That body blocking potential has me thinking twice about things. The incoming damage was the biggest barrier to running higher torment in RoS, and a sea of little critters blocking pathing is a lot more reliable than 1.5 second stuns and freezes.

I haven't tried anything on WD except for this (Fetishes Build) build. That sounds tempting.

Fetish Army with the 3 extra dagger piggies, along with all the ones summoned along the way from doing Physical Attacks, can surround a Lightning Enchant elite entirely so you never see a single spark move away from them. It's quite amazing.

I run something close, but with real emphasis on CD reduction so I can spawn Gar and Piggies as often as possible.

Firebomb + Pyrogiest
Acid Cloud + Acid Rain

Spirit Walk + Jaunt (aw yeah)
Soul Harvest + Vengeful Spirit (kablam)
Gargantuan + Wrathful Protector (bosskiller)
Fetish Army + Variable (usually Devoted Following)

Passives: Grave Injustice + Tribal Rites + Fetish Sycophants/

One day I'll complete a Zunimassa set to complete the package.

Zombie Wall Offensive line is pretty nice for this as well and also procs sycophants.

Just got my key through from Simplycdkeys.

Dunno whether to jump onto EU tonight to try crusader early or wait until tomorrow morning so I can play on my US characters and not start crusader twice.

Carbot RoS trailer HYPE.

Priceless.

EDIT: Well, opening cinematic, not trailer. Still, is awesome.

Mildly amusing until the very end which was fantastic.

You smelly non-europeans better not ruin our launch servers!

Played way more of Loot 2.0 patch than expected. With the community buff and a hellfire I leveled every class to 60 (only had a 60 wiz previously). I'm super pumped for the expansion and adventure mode.

I've decided to take the day off tomorrow to play. Thankfully my job is flexible enough that I can wake up and see the state of things. If login/lagginess/servers are all good then I can stay home, if it's all gone to hell then I can go work and take Weds off instead.

Hype!

My main single target dmg ability with WD is Spirit Barrage with the passive ability that restores 100 mana over 10 seconds when you cast certain spells. I don't use a primary (free) ability.

If you just want to test the crusader, you can jump to Asia in one hour :p

I wouldn't be quite that quick to write it off. There's, somewhat unfortunately, one precise difference which made me go for the Digital Deluxe - you gain another 3 character slots. With the normal edition of RoS, you get two more, up to 12 slots total from vanilla D3. With the CE / Deluxe, you'd end up with 15.

May not be of value to some, but to me, that shit's important. Means I can have all my softcore and a better selection of HC chars on top. Might even have space for a mule or two.

It's up to you. The transmogrification plans, spectral hound pet and the other stuff for Blizzard franchises, well... most of that is just cosmetics. Up to you. But 3 more char slots is tangible.
That is what sold me as well. Need those extra slots.

Granted runs in D2 lasted about 3 minutes each but this is a good middle ground from D3 at launch. Do the caches have any guaranteed loot contents?

It's the randomness of everything that I'm most excited about. You can play in short bursts or for an extended period of time and it's always changing. It'll do wonders to keep people coming back for more IMO. Running through story repeatedly was so zzzzzzzzzz..

I don't believe the Horadric Caches have guaranteed loot. It should be entirely randomized. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

DiabloGAF, please grant me the strength to not spend $40 on a digital version of Reaper of Souls just so I can play for a few hours tonight before my physical CE arrives Tuesday afternoon.
