This feels like the end of an era. The loss of X Play was a big one. He was an iconic piece of video game media.
I enjoyed his videos on rev3, he finally had more freedom to do what he wanted without the corporate TV chains holding him down.
Gaming magazines, X Play, techTV, I'd love to have it all back. Now all that's left is Internet based media with tons of troll spam.

Consulting? What kind of experience does he have to warrant this decision except being "part of the media"? I like him as a commenter on issues but I can't see him as a consulter.

Your comment is dismissive and baseless. Just because his views and opinions were different from yours it does not mean his opinions are any less relevant than yours. He was one of the most eloquent and intelligent people in the gaming journalism industry.
It's funny you should say he was bloating and self-serving when he showed, in multiple occasions, to be a very humble personality and admitted he felt like he had built a career based on talking about the work of people much more talented than himself. Other than John Bain I don't recall any other internet gaming persona ever showing such humility, another person who distanced himself from the gaming community due to the constant abusive vitriol he has to put with.
Those types of comments, condescending and ridiculously offensive ones, like the one you just made, are part of the reason why some of our favourite industry's best people end up departing it and I have immense disdain towards people that act in such a manner.
Unlike other places where you can spew words like that, on this site it's usually not looked upon kindly when someone makes false or unfounded claims against anything. For your own benefit, I recommend you change your way of words or the way you express your opinions, unless you want your stay here to be short.

Not at all actually, even his inFamous review which people blew a gasket about because it was an exclusive that didn't rate as high as Titanfall I found to be very reasonable, he usually is.
Yeah after playing Infamous i ended up sharing most of his thoughts, the outrage was pretty idiotic

I wish people who wanted to extol Sony every goddamned minute of the day would get together and ignore the rest of us. His opinion was understandable on infamous. This doesnt change that since he joined rev3 the reviews have gone down hill fast.

No that's pretty accurate. "Gaming Industry Icon since the late 90s" is exactly how I would describe Adam Sessler.
Uhhh no, lets not. Lets hit the gas. He had a huge impact in bringing and keeping video games on TV when there weren't any other shows focusing on the medium

Not surprising to see Sessler leave after E3 hell and the blow-up near the PS4 release. Have fond memories of watching him and Lauren Fielder on ZDTV way back.

He put Rev3 on the map, now they will probably fade into irrelevancy.

He took it in the neck last year with his comments about MS, but I think a lot of games journalists got caught out with that one by being too close to members of the games industry who had a vested interest in the blocking of second-hand games / restriction of customer rights.

exactly and the game is garbage that's the point. he gave the game raving reviews moron and even fans of the game admit it's terrible after a few days of playing it.
he lost credibility because he stated the game is 'ground breaking and would revolutonize fps genre" that speaks of "paid for BS" etc.
Sound like ur a fan of titanfall however and a xbot and each of you're defense posts reak of that.. Look at it Already hard to find games because the community has died and it's what 2 weeks after release yes that's revolutionized FPS genre right there.
We need common sense tags for some of you. Anyone who played the beta and wasn't paid by BS knew this before the game even released.

Like Richard Lemarchand (Uncharted and Soul Reaver lead design), who now helps with IndieCade and is a USC professor, you could tell he was going into this space from his Indiecade 2011 talk of Uncharted 2 being inspired by indies (The Graveyard inspired Uncharted 2 village).

I don't know exactly how I feel about this. I already unsubscribed to Rev 3 but I've unsubscribed to most of my youtube channels because I've discovered if any of them has something good, someone will link it on a forum or facebook and I'll see it there.
While I have made posts about Adam's very odd opinions over the past year, it comes down to the fact that he didn't defend them in a satisfying way. Especially when they were contrary to his previously established opinions.
I think there is a larger issue going on here that isn't really being talked about. Its the complete collapse of a functional critical gaming press.
Adam is a smart guy. He, along with most of the established gaming press, realized his job was not to inform us. Much like Fox News, their job is to get access to information and present it in an entertaining way to attract eyeballs to ads. In fact performing to traditional press role is actually counter productive. If Adam slammed Microsoft, we would have agreed with him and probably not finished watching the video. Never seeing the ad we needed to watch to pay his paycheck.
I'm not saying he or the gaming press is intentionally misleading us or committing fraud. They aren't. Its just their needs, combined with being in the spotlight, color their decisions. Much more than the traditional written press. I've noticed this with Giantbomb too. Every product released is kinda ok unless its from outsider then its ok to trash it.

Part of a critic's job is to pretend Xbox Live is free rather than $60 a year in order to draw a false equivalency between the price of the PS4 and the price of the Xbox One?
