1) We've been doing exactly that in the office, knocking tenths off our times :)
2) T500 (RS) is compatible on PC

1) good. as racing games are probably my favorite games, I will be very happy with a good driving model. in other aspects of such game, codemasters is/has been very good already, audiovisual/presentation/etc. just improve the handling. please :)
2) partially good, but since i have the latter, the thrustmaster xbone version, tx1 or whatever, can we find out if its compatible with that too?

also, I forgot to write in my previous msg: even though I have both the ps4 and the xbone, I DO appreciate that you are taking your time with the new consoles.

cheers!

What's the last console racer from codemasters that ran at 60fps?
Just look at the game. It's running on the Grid 2 engine with some improvements - it's a last-gen title. If Grid 2 came to PS4, you'd expect it to be 60fps. This is no different. The vehicles have nowhere near the detail of current-gen titles, nor do the environments - Forza being the obvious example at the moment, and the upcoming DriveClub and Project CARS. And even those are hitting (or aiming for) 60fps.

The PS4/One would easily run this game at 60fps.

Very bad decission. You can't max the game with an integrated intel gpu but you can't max the game without it neither. :(

Yeah, sure it is quicker to do those effects like smoke self shadows with that intel "pixelsync" stuff, but other games (like BF3) also manage to do it without unplayable framerates sans "pixelsync" .

Im really skeptical of this game. A lot of the tracks look recycled from previous GRID games....and the handling still has that weird tendency to oversteer no matter what. Its like the act of turning into a corner has its own inertia and there's no weight transfer grip to lean on, the cars just start sliding. Which worked relatively fine in DIRT but looks wonky on the street driving of GRID.

It's great to see CM interacting here on GAF. The 'new' outlook from CMR is most welcome!

The emphasis on circuit racing and varied disciplines certainly suggests a throwback to the great TOCA series. Hyped!

CodiesLoore, has there been any consideration of Steam Workshop functionality? While it doesn't seem so obvious, I've always wondered how the community would mess around with and enhance a racing game with such features

I'm a big fan of the Steam Workshop, would love to see us support it and I'm sure we'll get there one day. Unfortunately, at launch at least, it's not looking likely. It is something we looked into but we decided we'd be going into it too raw.

As a company we're still relatively on the edge of the pool in terms of modding, we opened it up a bit with GRID 2 and started to get our feet wet but we've still got a long way to go. Ultimately, when we do it we want to make sure it's done right.

There's also a huge licensing 'discussion' (read: headache) that'll also come from it and the last thing we'd want is to have to start ripping mods down left right and centre, that's not really in the spirit of it all.

It remains very much part of our long term discussions though.

Not too sure about the GRID games, but the F1 games didn't have much mod support. If it wasn't for a couple of great guys they wouldn't be moddable at all. F1 2013 definitely went backwards in terms of mods.

It's a shame, but I hope they open up both games for mods, really extends the life of it.

Love the short lull between announce and release.
Looking forward to the track list and hopefully the Lamborghini Huracán.

No PS4 no XB1? For real? I guess I will do the PC version but this would have been the perfect excuse for me to buy one of the new consoles.

That's not good. Slowly it starts to look like a Grid 2 mod created on a low budget to fund next gen Grid 3. It's only a preliminary opinion.
They chose to remove the resource-heavy cockpit view from Grid 2 in order to push more fancy visuals on the aging consoles. It's no surprise that they are limited with what they can achieve now that they're bringing the view back on the same engine, optimised for the same aging hardware. I imagine it doesn't make sense to spend the money to upgrade the cockpits just for the PC version, unless that version could then move to the new consoles. But it seems like the game overall is not able to compete visually with the new-gen stuff, so I doubt it will happen - instead they are likely to be working on a new (or massively upgraded) engine, which I expect to see first in the form of Dirt 4.

1080P 60fps trailer is magnificent! Holy shit, so excited for this. Love the music in the trailer too.

edit: lots of potential Codemasters hires in this thread - jesus, you'd think they're throwing away money.

Yep; more games should be announced two or three months before release. If the publisher has a strong marketing campaign mapped out it does not at all need to be to the game's detriment. I'm so fed up of games being announced 2+ years before release, and I wish more did this.

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.

Could you get the BTCC license please? :p

Anyway, If the handling model is indeed better than the dismal GRID 2, and the cockpit mode exists...I'll bite. Well, so long as the game plays nicely with the DFGT.

If you are going back to your Toca roots. Then can we have the tank back? :D

You should bring back the dumb (in a good way) story mode from TOCA. I loved the cutscenes walking around the garage and pit.

how long until they announce the XB1/PS4 versions? E3?

They said it's not happening for this game.

Yes, PC as lead platform for us (it's not a PC port as some have said).

Next-gen GRID will come in time, we're not going to rush that and get a game that can only run at 720/30 or something similar, next gen has to look and feel like 'next gen' for us.

So I doubt an E3 announcement is likely. Either they would announce a port after the game is out (and it sells well) or we will have to wait for the next iteration. My guess is that we will need to wait for the next iteration.

100% genuinely not on the cards at the moment.

Welp! There you go.

I'd like to think that Showdown didn't delay the Dirt 4 project, rather it bought them more time to get it right. Autosport seems to be serving a similar purpose, but also seems to be a more substantial offering (Showdown was poor in comparison to Dirt 3, whereas Autosport sounds like it will be better than Grid 2 in every way), so I have no problem with that.

What the fuck is a "4K textures"? 3820x2160 textures?
Please, stop using terms that simply don't belong.

I'm playing through Grid 2 on the PC at the moment and loving it. Shame nobody else seemed to based on this thread! Could do without the ESPN fluff but love the tracks, settings, car customisation and arcade handling. Might even be my favourite arcade racer since Hot Pursuit.

As a purely arcade only racer fan, I do hope that they don't not try something along those lines again due to the backlash.

4K textures is a better term that 4K screen resolution.

1K textures = 1024x1024
2K textures = 2048x2048
4K textures = 4096x4096

How 3820x2160 is 4K?
