Typically, when a game has a cash store, they have to go through the console store. If we're just talking extra unlocks, they can do it without going through the store.
However both Sony and MS are pretty strict on not letting their playerbases connect in any way, even through 3rd party servers. The only exception to this I can think of is FFXI but that was a small group of PS2 players that were able to play on the same servers as PC and (eventually) Xbox 360 players.

Sucks that my class starts exactly at 1 pm EST . Either way, I'm hoping for some actual gameplay with the HUD and all that. I wanna see both co-OP and competitive. It would be cool to see another area boss too or maybe a glimpse of one .

kind of disappointed all my irl friends are getting this on 360..I will probably follow just so I have people to play with...even though I own a ps4, xbone, and PC as well

I tried, but didn't realize that this game would be on all consoles (thought it was next gen only) so they are sticking with their 360's

While your character is persistent, I'm pretty sure multiplayer has it's own separate matchmaking system.
I think it is like regular multiplayer. Faction vs faction probably or something like that

The insinuation is that it's arena-styled instanced PvP. We know from Urk that there will be no "surprise PvP" which at the very least means no ability to gank other players in the world.

All of my friends are getting this for PS3, even though I've been desperately been trying to convince them to buy it for PS4.
the game looks so gorgeous on next-gen, I think I might just go solo on PS4.

Oh, I'm well aware. His friends seem to not care about facts though, so maybe if they heard it as some sort of secret rumor they'd be more inclined to take it seriously.
