It's probably nothing. WiiU revision at best, but more likely something to do with QoL stuff. Edit; but even more likely to be utter bollocks.

In dream land however, it's probably a powerful new console that dual boots as a Steam Box and is sold at a discount for those upgrading from WiiU. Booya.

Yes, a lot of their problems are their fault, but that doesn't mean they necessarily deserve every bad thing that happens to them. A lot of your post reads as straight up hate for the company.

Deserving in the manner of which they are in control of their own destiny. Nintendo is known as kiddy for those very reasons. No one really likes to go there and I have never even gone there but just to have that perception is both good and damning when it comes to attracting core gamers and key 3rd party games which Nintendo has been severely missing on Wii and WiiU.

But me hating on Nintendo is more of me being extremely dissapointed with how things have changed.

Games are what matters the most and Nintendo continues to miss out on major AAA games like GTA5, Elder Scrolls, or damn near every major relevant franchise. But if they do receive support it's usually not up to snuff visually and feature wise on top of being on Nintendo's subpar online service. It always baffles me to see those how just own a Nintendo platform proclaiming a love for games but are not even in possession of superior platforms like PS3 and 360 which have enormous amounts of games the Wii or WiiU will never have and that's not even counting the indie rush on PS platforms. To me, fairly speaking on their position, with what they offer in terms of gaming, they would need at least HW parity or something to hook me. They have none of that on top of their account system which has cost me about 500USD in lost content among headaches with my 3DS which I've had to call Nintendo about but that is really not speaking to my main points.

Nintendo has a lot of catching up to do and have long been lapped in features and obviously HW prowess. This is why it makes it hard to even see myself or others choose a Nintendo platform for major multi platform games unless those very people happen to not own a competitive and superior platform from the competition. That is the current state.

Sales are one thing but it would be cheap to even bring up how the PS4 and XB1 have nearly both overtaken Nintendo in the WW HW sales charts. Nintendo was once proud to claim that right with Wii but that was a false champion if I ever saw one given how many amazing games they missed. To the Wii's credit, it did have some good RPG's and compelling games here and there like Xenoblade, Last Story, Pandora's Tower, and S&P2. I see none of that on WiiU until X hits.

Console revision, merging of the markets?!?!?!

They remove the Gamepad and replace it with a newer exclusive 3DS that features dual analog sticks and additional triggers. 3DS/WiiU hybrid.

Never gonna happen

I can't believe they got fooled by the fusion rumor. You can track down the source of that rumor with out much trouble. It's clearly fake, there's even fake pics of the fake meeting Nintendo apparently showed the systems off at. The person that shopped the pics used old gameboy/ds codename logos/info an such.

Surely another gaffer can link the forum which the rumor was born in. It was in a thread where people were discussing rare/unreleased hardware.

Or that means minor as in they focus on Wii U and 3DS and then at the end say "Oh yeah, we have a new handheld coming out next year, here is what the prototype looks like. Bye"

Has Nintendo ever done this?
They've always made any new hardware announcement the main part of their conference.

The only way this would be possible would be if it had Wii U hardware, the games would have to have been in development for a while

I still might buy a Wii U for Smash and Hyrule Warriors, if this is true thought there is absolutely no way I buy either system.

It's not. They are not going to be hyping Mario Kart 8 and a new bundle that releases only a few days before E3, only to drop a new console reveal that is not even in a press conference. They will mainly be showcasing support for Wii U and 3DS and at most will have something that does not interfere with those in any way, but might work with either one or both. That is what I'm expecting.

You seem to have entirely different conceptions of what the word confirmed means. The fact that it's highly unlikely to be a new console is not the same thing as being confirmed that a new console is not going to be present.

The person who brought up the rumor says it will be minor. I'd take that as confirmation.

No way it's a new console. Nintendo wouldn't kill off the Wii U two years into its life regardless of how badly it's flopping. Interested to see what the hardware might be though

Not only that, but the main event at E3 is dedicated to a game that will come on Wii U towards the end of the year.

He says that he thinks it'll probably be minor based on what he knows of Nintendo's strategy, not because of what he's heard from his sources. That's not confirmation.

Yup, at this point thread deserves to be a part of the TALES FROM MY ASS series

Super 3DS/3DS player for wiiU seems reasonable to me. Control differences made DS->Wii was pretty much impossible but 3DS->WiiU is logical in this regard. They are already moving on GBA/DS games to WiiU virtual console so it's not like they mind making money on people who like playing portable games on a TV. It would get my money.

It'll most likely be a WiiU revision/re-branding.

What I'd like to see from Nintendo:

A Nintendo branded and skinned Android based gaming tablet with TV out.

False in that it rode the wave of it's casual gold strike. I bought 3 Wii's in the day and also went in at 4am to get the first one. SNES, NES, DS, 3DS, and GB family's were great and speak for themselves. They've just happened to have faltered with N64, GC, Wii, and WiiU. To their credit, at least GC with at HW parity and easily a more powerful alternative to PS2 but Nintendo was already in the corner they are now and never got the support. This does have striking similarities but it's even worse now. Nintendo has missed countless AAA and indie games that have come to Sony/MSFT platforms. That's why they aren't my go to anymore. For hand held, I love 3DS. COnsole space, they are wasting my time with their efforts and I do wish it was different.

Me investing in their platforms and buying games isn't some nice trick to play face here. I like what I see and Nintendo has certainly had more wins than losses with me but their losses have been the most recent in the console space.

If it's something big, I'm actually surprised I just found out how apathetic I am to the possibilities.

WiiU successor? Would make me pretty sad/mad as I bought a WiiU at launch and don't feel the system's given enough back, so I don't want to see it replaced so soon.

3DS successor? I loved my DS, it was the first proper handheld I ever owned (yes, never had a Gameboy, GBA or PSP) but the 3DS and 2DS have not managed to appeal to me. It's not a case of the phone replacing handhelds for me, I just generally find myself drawn to big screen experiences right now.

QoL bullshit? really could not care less about Nintendo branching out into non-gaming applications and devices

So honestly... I don't know what they could do hardware-wise that would win me over at this point. Sorry. :(
