*Rumor* The Order: 1886 delayed

What if Destiny is ass?

Its only one game. Sony usually have marketing deals for Batman and Assassins Creed. There are other games around too like DAI, Evolve and Far Cry 4 to promote on their side, even if Destiny isn't great I don't see it being that much of a problem.

Not that I'm saying it will be ass.

So their holiday big games are Driveclub which was delayed from last year, and The Last of Us that came out on PS3 last year as well? Common Sony, don't be like this.

If nothing interests yoiu between the Witness, the Evil Within, the next Assassin Creed, Destiny, Dragon Age and Driveclub...you should adopt a new hobby.

The overreactions! WOW!

Quick look at my list of games I'm keeping an eye on for later in the year and I find:

Assassin's Creed Unity, Batman, shadow of mordor, Call Of duty, far cry 4,
halo, forza horizon 2, sunset overdrive, evolve, visceral battlefield, Destiny & Dragon Age.

We'll be okay people. Disappointing of course, but it's not like there's nothing. Kind of sad seeing people dismiss driveclub as it's part of a dying genre or w/e , super fucking excited for Horizon 2 here, and keenly keeping an eye on Driveclub too.

kinda off topic I guess but apart from Batman and Evolve(?) what are the 3rd party games exclusive to next gen only

if every other game can be played on Xbox 360 and PS3 then the hype got me and I should have waited on both systems

cmon Sony announce some cool things at E3 please

Because we've been hearing about Halo & Forza for months. All signs point to those games being in active development. Could Sony have two more Fall 2014 games in the chamber? It's certainly possible, but I just feel like we would have some idea what they are at this point. The only Sony title I've heard to be rumored in development is a PS4 port of GoW:A - which might be the least compelling exclusive imaginable.

But they do have other 2014 retail and digital exclusives. Lily Bergamo and Guilty Gear Xrd are the retail games.

As for unannounced games, just because you haven't heard any constant rumors doesn't mean it's impossible for a game to come out in 2014. Go take a look at all of 1st/2nd party studios that have been working on an unannounced game for at least 2 years.

I can see TLG coming out this fall if it gets re-introduced at E3.

I thought my opinoin was pretty well explained.

Halo and Sunsert Overdrive are exciting IPs in popular and well-loved, top-selling genres.

Drive Club is kind of a generic IP in a dwindling genre where even having an established IP doesn't guarantee you sales anymore (GT6 flopped).

Sunset Overdrive is popular and well-loved IP in a top-selling genre ?
This from a company that has not have a games that sold great in years .

I find it incredible, ridiculous and hilarious that Nintendo has the best 1st party output for the rest of the year:

Hyrule Warriors
Bayonetta 2
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
X

That's console only, they'll put out stuff for the 3DS as well. Also probably they're probably going to release some unannounced game, just like they did with 3D World last year.
The thing is, they still will likely have the worst lineup for the year with all games considered.

Sunset Overdrive and Halo 2 Anniversary are a helluva lot more compelling than a racing game released in October.

I would certainly bet more on shooters from proven developers than I would an unproven racer with no established brand.

This makes no sense. How are Evolution "unproven"?

And seriously, Sunset Overdrive is "proven" and an "established brand"?

At least make sense with your troll.

Not bothered by the delay of true. Way too many games coming out in October and November for me to throw a fit over a delay. If the February launch is true then I know of two games I'm picking up day 1 that month.

So your mad because sony didn't have leaks about there upcoming games ?

It's a reality of the modern games industry. Leaks are common, and consistent enough that they're an accurate barometer of the future. Everything leaking out of Sony is that their internal development is in upheaval. Sony Santa Monica's thing may have been scheduled for Fall 2014 - but that's dead. Uncharted 4 was probably set for this Fall - no way that's happening now.
If Sony can surprise me with two more AAA games that are near-completion, yet they've just declined to mention up to this point - I'd be equal parts thrilled and annoyed. Thrilled because I want software, but annoyed because it shows a remarkable blindness to their customer base. People just spent $400 on their machine, and are left believing that it's devoid of worthwhile exclusive content for the immediate future?

Isn't Assassin's creed due this year? edit: and the Crew. I can see Batman getting delayed too :|

Didn't latest reports indicate that The Evil Within is awful? I would really like that to not be true, but it's difficult to be optimistic.
Yes, impressions haven't been very positive, and certainly it's not a sure fire thing, but I'm still very hopeful personally. Of course, tastes will vary.

Maybe Sony is quiet because they just don't have many games for 2014 after all, not because they had a master plan.

The positive side of this is that there has to be some good news coming tomorrow if they are feeding the delay to us.

Darn.

I'm pretty hyped for this game but waiting until February won't be too bad.

I've got enough things to play as it is.

This is likely for the best. I'd never have chosen to buy it over some of the other titles out at Christmas, there's just too much competition.

This makes it a little more likely I'd be able to afford it and play it when it comes out.

Wasn't Sony supposed to have the superior 1st party games compared to Microsoft? I hope they're not planning on Driveclub being their only retail release this fall. The Last of Us is summer, right?

The thing is, they still will likely have the worst lineup for the year with all games considered.

Not if Bayonetta 2 is the GOTY I think it is.

Has a good chance of being the highest rated on Metacritic though. (Ignoring HD releases of course).

When was the last time (if ever) a game no one knew about prior to E3 was first revealed at E3, released later that fall, and was a AAA game?

A new IP would have been steamrolled in October. That is likely to be the case in perpetuity now that most big third party franchises other than GTA are in Madden mode.

This still looks like mismanagement on SCE's part though. So many studios, and the may end the year publishing only half a dozen new retail releases.

Completely subjective. Looking at that lineup, I wouldn't even slot the Wii U into second place. Opinions....

Honestly my most anticipated game this fall is batman. I can't wait to see more of that game

Also I'm curious how many had The Order as their most anticipated fall release? Judging from the reactions from people in the stream thread most would care if it came out this year. This is nothing compared to when infamous was pushed back or TLOU for me. I think the Order has potential but it's not a cant miss game yet

From Fall to Februrary isn't as bad as I thought it would be delayed, and even though I have no interest in DriveClub (full paid version) there are the multiplats to tide me over. A nice E3 surprise for Fall would be nice of course but I'm not mad if it's delayed I guess it's for the best.

So in terms of big first party exclusives, this is what we're looking at?

Sony
Driveclub
TLOU Remastered
God of War Ascension PS4 (rumor)

Microsoft
Halo 2 Anniversary (rumor)
Halo Master Chief Collecton (rumor)
Sunset Overdrive
Forza Horizon 2 (rumor)

Kind of an iffy fall for both sides, but Halo remakes pique my interest far more than a racer and two PS3 ports (though I really enjoyed TLOU).

+ Rime, Helldivers & The Witness on Sony's side.

Lets not take into account that this is the wiiu's second year or anything.

If they push out the game this year, it will only go down as the new IP that bombed against Destiny, COD: AW, AC: Unity, Batman: Arkham Knight, etc. Fall is crowded enough. I'm sure the confirmation is coming this week. Doesn't take an "insider" to form a logical conclusion.

If Sunset Overdrive is scheduled for Fall as well, R.I.P.

IF true, Then surely Sony would be thinking of something good to counter it?

But please no indie news, Im all for indies, But I didnt buy the ps4 for them specifically, There just fluff games to me.

Yep - ITT people forget about third party games on PS4.

Like we'll have nothing to play...

I think the underlying point that's being ignored here is that Sony's first party studios are currently apparently struggling to produce full-scale exclusive content. Better (compared to XONE at least) versions of multiplatform games (many of which are still available on 360/PS3 as well) certainly haven't sold me on the platform just yet.

If true I guess I'm ok with it. I'd rather have a later polished game instead of a rushed incomplete game. Can't say it wouldn't be disappointing though. Maybe they have some unannounced 2014 games left? Even if it's smaller titles at least it's something.

Like I said in Summer of last year, it won't be until 2015 that the PS4 begins to really get going. I bought a PS1, PS2, and PS3 at launch and they all took two years~ to get moving.

I'd be in the dick
As long as Arkham still makes it out this year I'll be happy. Between that and Destiny fall is looking pretty damn good, plus a few other smaller games like Alien.

I want this game to be good so I don't really care about the delay in regards to that but I wonder what Sony has planned for fall. Are they really just going to count on remasters, multiplats, and DriveClub? I wonder if they'll get one or two smaller profile titles out.

That said, it sounds like 2015 might wind up being an insane year for Sony.

Won't care at all if this is true. There's a LOT of games coming up I'm going to buy on the PS4 this year anyways.

05/27: Watch Dogs

06/03: Murdered: Soul Suspsect

08/19: Diablo III
08/26: The Evil Within

09/09: Destiny

10/07: Alien: Isolation
10/07: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
10/07: Dragon Age: Inquisition
10/14: Batman: Arkham Knight

TBA:

Lords of the Fallen
Rime
The Witness
Assassin's Creed Unity
The Last of Us Remastered

I'm sure there'll be more games announced at E3 for this year that'll I'll pick up too.

Hardly a disappointing year for the system without The Order 1886. I don't need exclusives to make it worth buying.

Most of that entire list is coming to PS3 or Xbox 360. Gosh, upgrading to a new console this year makes little sense.

You don't know that Driveclub will be a below average title, but we do know that multiplatform titles (you know, most titles that get released) will probably look and/or perform better on PS4. These games drive sales, so Sony will be fine and can allow a game like The Order to get properly developed.

I still don't believe that a higher resolution/frame rate are more compelling than exclusive software for the mass audience. For hardcore fans - sure. It's why the PC is booming - those people want the best. But the average consumer just wants games. If you tell them "Here are all these great new titles for the Fall - most of both consoles, but XBox has one or two more that you may like"... The ONE wins that conversation 9 times out of 10. Combined with price parity, XBox is in a position to win this holiday season and earn back a solid deal of the lead.
