Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
I still fail to really see how the setting lends itself to the Battlefield title.

When was the last time we saw anything approaching a "Battlefield" for police? The closest would be that LA bank robbery from back in the 90's,

That affair was just 2 guys. To be fair, two guys brandishing heavy weapons and adorned in heavy ballistic armor, but two guys nonetheless. Hardly what one would term a "Battlefield"

Plus, the nature of the gameplay doesn't really seem commensurate with the battle against crime anyway. Police work is predicated around the concept of locating and apprehending suspects to bring them to trial. Not running around the streets shooting everything that moves. How are they going to explain that little aspect?

I agree with this. The core concept of this doesn't even remotly resemble my personal belief about how lawenforcement should operate. We'll see how good the gameplay is and how good it is. Basicly this is cops'n'robbers for the 14-30 male demographic.

The only way I could see Battlefield being able to pull this off in any believable manner would be to set it in the Judge Dredd universe.

I thought the whole point of EA's yearly rotation of shooters was to avoid franchise fatigue, but now we have Battlefield being followed by Battlefield: Spinoff.

I haven't really played BF4 that much so I'll likely skip this unless it's somehow radically different. I'm expecting a reskin.

While I understand why people were confused, "rotation" in a business sense means "line-up" as opposed to "the titles we alternate annually".

Will Battlefield Hardline learn from BF4?

Will we have a decent server tick rate?
Will we have a demo/battle recorder?
Will we have a stable game release?
Will we have e-Sports support from the start?

I don't know how to feel about this as I got burned pretty bad from battlefield 4 (Xbox one & ps4 copies) and the season passes I bought. Broken double Xp days, rubber banding, issues downloading maps and more. I don't feel I could buy any battlefield game at full price/day 1 anymore. I might wait for battlefront and skip battlefield this year.

Different people are coding this game and it may not have those issues.

a team of 32 people robs a liquor store, team of 32 cops brings in snipers and heavy machine guns and crossbows to handle it

also, vehicle mounted machine guns and what look like frag grenades

i'm pretty sure this has happened ON COPS quite regularly

I'm just making the assumption since Visceral was their "third person action game" label when they did their reorg, so if they're making a first person game, I'm not sure who would make a third person one.

Maybe they could experiment with a smaller downloadable title in the future ? I'm probably in the minority of wanting a third person BF or COD spin off.

Really hyped about this. This has massive potential and it's going to be an interesting break from the typical settings.

It's too early to say that though. It's entirety possible that the larger game modes are limited to Gang v Gang gametypes. Turf wars doesn't sound like a Cops v Gang situation.

Not a lot of weapons for a full retail game... or am I just being silly?

I'd be fine with a smaller set of weapons if it means better balance and core gameplay. Just look at how bad the re-balancing has gotten with BF. Weapons and vehicles are constantly getting nerfed and buffed. Half the time it feels like DICE is just randomly swapping numbers to see what works.

I think I'm one of the few that had very little trouble with BF4 (One version), so consider me hyped as fuck for a heist type BF. :)

Tell us more about how you fantasize about shooting police officers.

Well...

As soon as the game gives me the freedom to do whatever I want I'm going to go on a bike ride, take my dog for a walk, and kill some cops. The perfect day. <3

Whaaat, fucking with the cops is my favorite part of the game. GTA barely even needs story missions as far as I'm concerned, lol.

Please keep in mind that NYPD cops (and cops worldwide) harass, attack, displace, steal from, imprison, and kill homeless people every day. It's nice of this guy to do a good deed, but please remember the many people who face police violence as a fact of life.

I support this.

All Cops Are Bastards.

Being rude to cops isn't being a dick, it's treating cops how they deserve to be treated. OP, I'd recommend looking up your basic legal rights when dealing with the cops. The "Know Your Rights" type stuff.

I've never heard of Stick it to the Man before, but if it's about impaling cops with various sharp objects, then count me in.

Since we can't get a proper Rainbow game anytime soon this will have to do. Hopefully.

Well, consider me intrigued. I welcome a new twist on the Battlefield formula, plus any game that lets me shoot cops is cool with me.

Oooookay, glad you fantasize about killing public servants. I'm sure the day I'm stabbed In the neck by an inmate you will rejoice as my family mourns.
