Next-gen games take minimum 24 months to complete, often more than that. So if TLG was moved to PS4, you gotta give it at least 2 years. Come on guys, give it a chance.

That is very interesting shit.

Why would Scott Rhode immediately tweet that Last Guardian is still in development. If it is not he would be straight lying and the shitstorm would be massive. Why didn't they do what they always do- keeping the mouth shut. ?? hmmm i am very confused

I wonder what would happen if The Last Guardian underwent a name change. Maybe they should just call it Trico.

Isn't Trico (the man eating bird) or w/e the Japanese name?

Wasn't the PS4 move a while ago?

Probably because apparently the source 'came from within Sony'? Also that IGN was saying that it was 'officially canceled'.

That's if you assume they made the decision to bring it to next ten within the last few days. Maybe it became a PS4 project 2012, therefore Christmas release !!!! Quick IGN "Christmas release confirmed from one source."

I'm disappointed in Colin Moriarty more than anything. He's guilty of peddling the rumour as something official on Twitter. He's one of the few writers at IGN who has his head screwed on right so I thought he would've known better than to succumb to sensationalism like that.

If it were cancelled (not saying it is), but if it were, would Sony really announce or confirm its cancellation before E3?

Seems unlikely that they would.

All of this is leading to a split second appearance in a montage and a a wait of two more years.

By "two" I mean "four"

Even if it gets cancelled, it will live on inside all of us. It's not about the end project, it's about the journey to get there, I hope you remember that GAF.

The slow realization after Sony's presser with again no info whatsoever on the Last Guardian, will begin to settle in. Finally.

Call it my own paranoid mind, but I think Sony is denying it now because they don't want to fuck up any good news from the show, with any bad news before the show.

I hope I am wrong. I loved the '09 trailer, and badly want to play that game.

I prefer to call it "realism."
Call it whatever you want. You're still showing no signs of defending it.

If The Last Guardian is revealed again anywhere, they'll want a big rereveal. E3 is basically THE choice for that. When they're ready to do their rereveal, they'll do it at the E3 after that.

Bookmarked.

If TLG was going to be shown at E3 in a couple days, they would have just let IGN hang out there and look like dumbasses when the footage hit. The fact that they came out and confirmed it's still in development means, to me, that they aren't otherwise going to "prove" it with a surprise showing at E3.

Haha wtf. Why on earth did IGN go for "TLG is officially cancelled". I mean they probably just caught up on the tweets by the two russian guys or something.

As someone explained earlier in the thread, Sony had to come out over this rumor because of how IGN presented it as something "official."

At the end of the day people will choose to think it still exists and people will choose to think it has been cancelled. FFv13 worked out in the end
even if Square dont like to share.

Yes but we've been hearing rumors for about 2 years that development was moved to the PS4 before it was officially called the PS4.

So. Shuhei Yoshida resign? Yay or Nay?

So far this year.

Naughty Dog loses one of the best creative forces in the industry as well as a game director mid project
Cancelled a new IP with $100m already spent at SSM. 50 long time staff fired
Launch game Driveclub delayed a full year
Guerrilla games has been working on a new IP for 3 years that "isnt ready to show" and who knows if it will even see the light of day
The Last Guardian killed after 8 years in development

Thats a lot of expensive cockups. I dont know about you but IMO heads must roll.

Wasn't sure whether to make a new thread or not, but IGN got the story from here:

http://www.worldsfactory.net/2014/06/07/rumor-the-last-guardian-cancelled#Xh10qdogHFAOhSUm.99

However, just two days before Sony’s E3 2014 press conference, two different tweets from Russian journalists Andrey Zagudaev and Petr Salnikov who work or used to work at GMBox.ru are hinting at a possible cancellation of the game.

the last guardian все, пацаны

Есть легитимный слух, что The Last Guardian отменен.
— Peter Salnikoff (@blessmepadre) June 7, 2014

The first one simply says
The Last Guardian is over, boys

While the other is a bit more elaborate:
There is a legitimate rumor that The Last Guardian has been canceled.

It was posted about a day earlier than the IGN story and cites a couple of Russian journalists. IGN have palmed off the story to their Russian office in the updated version as well so it is highly likely they made up their "source/report" and just regurgitated what was on this place.
