I noticed people linking to gameplay that a youtuber uploaded, but the Afghan and Mother Base sections are seperate. Anyone have a version where it's all together, preferably unwatermarked (except KojiSta of course)?

I know what I'm going to be doing for the majority of the game

I have no problem aiming in any other third person shooter where the reticule doesn't spaz.

Most third person shooters will let you walk your character right up to the edge of a wall and shoot 'through' it, because they aren't actually simulating a bullet coming out of the barrel of your gun. MGSV does, though (and I believe MGS4 did, too), and it definitely takes a little getting used to. Your reticle gets 'hung up' on stuff all the time, especially when you're trying to shoot while prone with various objects around. It's something that's in there for realism, no doubt, but I wouldn't mind if they eased up on it.

You might see it as spazzing out but it's actually showing you useful information.
White reticule is what you are pointing towards. Gray is what you are actually going to hit... Lump of dirt, sand bag, etc.

I never played a shooter where my bullets didn't get caught on some obstacle that didn't appear to be in my way. In fact, just last night on watch dogs, I aimed at a dude and the reticule showed me that I was directly pointed at him but my bullets caught the edge of a crate between us.

I was actually looking forward to it after ground zeros left me with good impressions, not a hardcore metal gear solid player so I enjoyed the more realistic tone, but seeing the Fulton system kind of ruins the game for me, ground zeros was awesome having to carry prisoners, map out routes and hide dead, sleeping bodies but now you can just pop em in the air and off you go.

Having said that I love all the other more serious gameplay here, dynamic weather, guard shifts, and I can live with the kind of silly cardboard box, but the Fulton stuff just takes me out of the immersion.

It's extremely finicky, even when it feels like you are clearly pointing at the enemy, clear of any obstacle, it can still get caught on things. It's something that sounds good in theory, but in practice, doesn't work especially well. I remember very distinctly in GZ, being in prone position in boiler room, having the reticule just completely freak out and having the guard alert the entire base, ruining the S rank I was going for. Really frustrating experience, especially when I felt like it was more the games fault than what I was doing.

The only immersion I know is fultoning everything that can fly. The sky will go dark when I simultaneously launch a thousand men and sheep !

Man I really hope more companies start using Youtube more for Live broadcasts. Quality aside, it's the only streaming service I can use that doesn't stutter or die at 720p. Hell I can't even get a smooth 5 mins from twitch on the lowest settings possible and uStream is as temperamental as a damn weather needle.

More on Topic, I honestly enjoy what I've seen. The only real 'issue' I have is that futon recovery seems to not be that visible to anything outside the immediate area. Outside the dude behind the jeep, none of the other stuff was ever noticed.

Granted we don't have a any real info on if something like that was disabled for the demo or if it's difficulty thing.

But yeah given the amount of stuff he futon'd inside the base itself, I imagine at least some of the NPCs should have seen it.

Granted I don't want full alert mode if they spot it, just like a 'Huh?' reaction with perhaps a call into HQ saying they've spot something and investigating (I mean that system is already in there)

I'm not sure how I feel about the contrast of the dark subject matter and grotesque moments like vagina bombs alongside using fulton on sheep. Pretty jarring.

Okay, this looked incredible, but I have a few things I'd like to say.

Come on, people saying this is the best gameplay of the series, must have never played MGS3 or 4. GZ and probably TPP are just an upgraded version of PW.
1).
CQC as it is now is just breaking my MGS fan heart,
2).
AI seems as stupid as in GZ, and that sucks. The fact they are playing it on normal probably doesn't help, but I HATE the fact I have to play my missions on normal before I have the right to tackle them on hard. PLEASE KojiPro, do something about that.
3).
INSTANT FUCKING ALERT is still there.
4).
I don't like at all the fact there's going to be infinite Fulton. Really not at all. I see this suffering from the Assassins Creed syndrome already, where after 10 hours of gameplay you have enough money to buy the entire city ... thrice. The mother base management is supposed to be substantial from what I can tell, I'd like it to be something I have to really work for in order to have a great MB instead of picking up diamonds under a tree that would let me fulton HUNDREDS of jeeps (if there were as many in one mission area). If there are going to be hundreds of mission like in PW, 10 to 15 fultons per missions would suffice.
5).
Haven't seen the reactions of an hold-up ennemy, so I can't tell but I have the feeling it's the same crap as in GZ. Now we have hold-ups thanks to which ennemies don't represent a threat at all anymore combined to infinite fulton air recovery that lets us put them away for good.

COME ON, am I the only one eho sees a problem with that?

Dynamic weather and stealth in an open world are really great, especially if you throw some MGS in it, but I can't get 100% excited for the game knowing that some of the core aspects like AI, and hold ups (which were perfectly viable 10 and 12 years ago) had to be changed to something immersion breaking.

I just don't get the logic behind it??? Attempt to create a living, breathing world to complement the stealth, but forget all about what you achieved a decade ago, stealth wise. It seems to me Kojima wants to showcase the foxengine more than anything else.

Does he think people don't pay attention to that kind of detail? I've come to expect more of him than that.

That said, I might be getting ahead of myself, since we're still far away from release, but I can't help but feel that what we got in GZ is pretty much representative of what we'll be getting in TPP ... and the more I play GZ the less I like it, partly due to the aforementioned points.

Even though Fulton costs, I do hope there is still a number limit of times you can use it per mission.
That was just about the only thing that saved it from being a body clearer in Peace Walker. In some of the larger missions with multiple zones, you only had say 8-10 balloons and couldn't just sweep the area with them and were better off saving them for the soldiers with the best stats.

HOPEFULLY Kojima adds this, I wouldn't mind it being on top of the cash price either - balances it further. Hopefully enemies are aware of things whooshing into the sky in the finished game as well.

This is just about my only grievance thus far. I loved extracting a hostage on foot in GZ, having to think of your route to the extraction point and be on your toes at all times for guards. One of the very best things about the game, something that I hope this doesn't lose with the 'fulton everything' design.

You have so much GMP towards the end of Peace Walker as well so hopefully that's balanced too so you can't just rinse your GMP on fultons and then earn it back by the time you have to go on your next mission.

Holy crap! This looks completely amazing. Although I really think the fulton is OP. I hope there are some limitations in the final game that weren't present in this demo. In fact, it would be nice if some missions had predetermined storms so you couldn't use it at all. Evacuating a target via fulton seems a little cheap too. I much prefer the way this worked in GZ.

Just finished watching the demonstration.

So we won't see the Mother Base?

It wasn't in that HD vid, but it is in the Konami youtube stream, you can click on it and drag the slider to the right part.

It's more an upgraded version of PW and MGS4, and it's much better than both. The core gameplay and character control are the best the series has seen so far.

There's Yong's video but it's watermarked and it has those Yong titles at the start and end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6J_eY-0PTs

Oh lord. Well this is better than 2 videos I suppose. Thanks.

I never understood why people watermark or add their intros/outros to videos they're simply sharing on their page. These people didn't record this gameplay, KojiPro did. Leave the damn video alone and upload it as raw as possible!

I keep expecting the idroid to tell him to "please mind the gap"
LMFAO! True! That's Donna Burke though. She sings Heaven's Divide and Sins of The Father.

The parachute thing seems a little ridiculous, I wonder if there's an in-game limit
It's called "Fulton surface-to-air recovery system". It actually costs 300 GMP but for demonstration purposes, it looks like it was infinite.

Man, Gameplay-mechanics look really good and - especially - fun. But it seems way too easy.
You have plenty of time to knock the enemies out when they notice you, before they do anything.
Jackie (the guy who was playing the game) is the best player at Kojima Productions. He practiced 300 hours just to prepare for the E3 behind closed doors demo.
You ignoring yourself? How does that work?
This.
I'm actually wondering about that. How optional is the base stuff?

It's not optional. It's necessary and the main gameplay mechanic in the game. It's actually going to be the best part.

wut ?

gameplay is such a huge step beyond all previous MGS it's not even funny.

yeah, they have to think of something for all the fultoning, don't want to be attaching baloons to everything on my path

Not for me. It will be a mild distraction from the best part. The stealth game play. Fuck the mother base in comparison.

I dunno, MGS4 was clearly a case of Kojima dragging his feet in places, but I liked Laughing Octopus, Advent Palace, Vamp, Crying Wolf, the Metal Gear tete-a-tete, Screaming Mantis and the tramp fight at the end. Not all series highlights, sure, but they were probably some of the best parts of the game.

The problem for me is that most of them were poor rehases from past MGS games...

babby mode? Slow motion when someone notices you, infinite fulton, S rank with 13 kills and 1 alert. meh

other than that it looked really good.

You had a lot more options in MGS4 as to how incapacitate an enemy, and Snake, while feeling more rigid, had a lot more moves than BB has in GZ.

Yes, and I love it.

It's a videogame.

Just because it is a "videogame" that doesnt justify inconsistencies with certain styles.

You mean to say because Heavy Rain is a videogame that devs can go full retard and add Luigi coming up on the street with his gokart and slam a banana to Ethan's windshield?

Yes I am exaggerating, but on purpose to make a point.

This "It's a videogame" thing is pretty poor as an excuse.

Those particular diamond sounds seem out of place, but that is just nitnitnitpicking and I never made the comment in bad spirit. Check my post history I am amazed with what I saw and this is my most anticipated game.

man this is not and day from MGS4. I'm hyped. I hope there's less cinematic.

OPTION: to turn of GPS voice would be nice. it will get annoying as time goes by

No official announcement yet but Kojima has said he wants it on PC.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/05/hideo-kojima-wants-metal-gear-solid-5-for-pc

He also said MGS2 was his last Metal Gear game so...
:D

Would've improved the game exponentially.

As for the diamond sounds, eh, it's just a fun sound/graphical effect, I doubt we'll take issue with it in game.
