2014 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of the Last Hope for Image Quality

That's just opinion though.

There are hundreds of the same shot posted from a tonne of games here. There are also, seemingly 'generic' shots as well on every page.

Give him a nudge for the image quality and amount of pics per post but you can't really tell what type of footage can be shown or not.

Some people have posted low quality mods, or bugs or pics looking at nothing but a wall...

If you don't like it, keep scrolling.

Back on topic, Unreal and Jim, some stunning looking Watch Dogs moments captured. Well done on creating and using that freecam. Marketing/wallpaper material for sure.

QFT. I see shit all the time that irks me or stuff I really don't like. At least once a page.

But I just keep on scrollin.

Different Folks Different Strokes.

Like below, I really only ever bitch and whine about technical crap.

I need to get back into Vegas, what suit is that?

You know this is a pre recorded cutscene right? D:

You'd think with the size of the game that those would at least be decently encoded.
NARP. Macroblocks, macroblocks everywhere!

I know i've said this a million times, but damn still pisses me off.

I'm in the middle of playing Mafia II right now and a majority of the Cutscenes are real time. But then out of no where, one will be pre-rendered for no visible reason at all. Because it's still the same assets, with no AA , low resolution, poorly encoded, etc. When really if they wanted to, could've been just in real time.

Is really annoying.

Well, i like the graphics of W2 not because of the technical beauty, but for one reason: opposite other RPG games (and developers) everything, every little thing in that game looks just so beautifully and handmade,.. everything has a purpose, it isn't just there because something needed to be there, but because it makes sense.. that's why i don't like what i have seen from the new Dragon Age, but loving everything what i have seen from W3
This is what I like about The witcher and loathe about pretty much every other cRPG.

Honestly, I am not sure what that means and how I can check it. But I have 55" and sit (or lie) 2.5 meters from it, and games look stunning, much better than on my (very high-end) LCD.

.

4:4:4 is the level of sub-sampling of the Chroma resolution (Color resolution)
With games and pretty much anything that isn't video/television/film based it can make a big difference in appearance of the image and the quality of the image.
I don't recall a lot of plasmas being capable of full 4:4:4 so it may not be. (4:4:4 = non sub-sampled color)

Some more information and how you can check/tell http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-l...official-4-4-4-chroma-subsampling-thread.html

Most TVs by default will not use 4:4:4.

Low quality fmv cutscenes are a pet peeve of mine, as well. Especially when they are an important part of the story, it was jarring going from pristine, downsampling ingame quality to crappy, macroblocked fmv in Castlevania Lords of Shadow. I enjoy how the PC port of Metal Gear Revengeance retained its high quality cinematics from the ps3 version.

Bound by Flame has some nice lighting and textures but the very basic geometry, particularly for the environments, makes it tough to capture a good looking screenie.

I think you both missed the original post. There were 4 shots that were basically the same, just slightly different camera angles. I think Midhras was just saying to pick the best and post that one. It really was an image dump.

Oh, was it all that stuff that said "Deleted" one after another?

Yeah, when I played LoS on the PS3, I had several dafuq moments. Because it was the same shit as the game. But with an extra layer of video compression on top. It looked like ass.
It's really deceiving to the unknowning end user too.

And I can't wait to enjoy that shit when I replay the game on PC.

Ok, I deleted my images, but not because they were the same (every one of them was in different environment - W2 is way more diverse than something like WD) but becasue of the rule - not more than 3 consecutive post from the same game..

Wow, some of those Watch Dogs shots on the previous page are really amazing. Can we call it an open-world wet pavement simulator?

Reinstalled Witcher 2, couldn't get downsampling with Gedosato to work. Was flickering at intro video and menu screen, then CTD when attempting to load a saved game, or starting a new one.

Used driver downsampling.

Wait, it's okay now to say that someone's use of SweetFX is atrocious, but I'm not allowed to say that I think some shots are generic while referring to a post with a lot of near-identical shots? Well, excuse me then. I'll try to bite my tongue next time.

One goes against the artistic design of the game/is a technical issue (Especially when it's used poorly).

Generic shots not so much.

Very nice Dishonored shots.

For Watch Dogs, haven't had a chance to try WorseMod and cheat engine yet. Just in-game camera and out of the box maxed out visuals:

I'll concede to that point. But it's quite apparent that we're coming towards the whole image quality thing with wholly different philosophies then. I think there's more to it than mere technicalities.
