Same here. As a business move this is an ace. Well X1 owners at least you're getting the game. Was getting the PS4 version anyway. Affects me none.

I'll say again: There's no reason to whitewash and create a false equivalency here.
Knowing the history matters. Saying "both did, it's all the same" is a simplification that doesn't do us any good.
The fact of the matter is that, to stay competitive in a market where your competitor is buying exclusive time for the biggest franchises in the industry (Elder Scrolls, Fallout, GTA, Call of Duty) they absolutely HAD to do the same. There is no way around it.
It's bullshit, it's a bad practice, and it likely doesn't benefit anyone in the long run. But I'm not about to pretend that everything is equal.
So you're saying that were it not for Sony buying in, that this map would not be released at some point to both platforms at the same time, maybe even on day one?Because many times the platform holder will pay for the development of the extra content.
Content that might otherwise not be developed due to the extra expense.
Sure it's timed, but eventually even X1 owners will enjoy the content. So that's how.
Im pretty sure Sony and Assasins Creed happened before those but maybe im wrong
Why? Most of us die-hard Bungie fans are also Halo fans as well and have to take it into account. All I really play these days is the odd multiplatform, blockbuster or Halo. I was worried about Halo for a bit, but no way in hell am I missing out on the MCC.
Now of course the best version of Destiny is one PS4, but if I can't support both consoles and I'm also a Halo fan, the logical step would be Xbox One. How can any Bungie or Halo fan also not be excited to play Halo CE/2/3 in 1080p/60FPS on dedicated servers. I can't wait to see what Halo 3 looks like with the res boost, and how dedicated servers and 60 fps affect the netcode and movement.
This year will be interesting, will really tell if most of us are Bungie fans, Halo fans, or both.
Think this sums it up pretty well. I think we all like to believe that Sony could have just sat on their hands and let MS have every piece of exclusive content and games and went about their business and only focused on WWS and been successful. Truth is, they probably would have got destroyed if they did that. Closest example we have of a company doing just that is Nintendo and well...umm...
Haven't really heard any good impressions about Destiny PvP from people I've played Halo with over the years. Heard good things about the other modes the game offers, but reactions from those people to PvP have been "meh" at best.
Nintendo has struggled with third party looooooooooong before any of this stuff even began.
Nah Sony had the original AC as a marketing exclusive as well in 07. It debut in 06 at e3.I believe it started with Brotherhood, in 2010.
GTA4 came out in 2007.
So you're saying that were it not for Sony buying in, that this map would not be released at some point to both platforms at the same time, maybe even on day one?
If Sony paid for its development, why does the Xbox get it at all?
You see something that wouldn't have existed without Sony, and I see something that (in this instance) Sony paid for in order to keep Xbox gamers from playing. We've seen the same thing on the MS side, paying to delay COD DLC to Sony platforms.
No gamer ends up as the winner, or with a better product. Not that I've seen anyway.

Lmao.Should we have two threads? One for glorious PS4 players and the other for second class gaming citizens?
This stuff is so dumb, and it'll only get worse.
Not sure on dlc but the marketing exclusive thing was real. There was no exclusive content for the original Assassin's Creed.
Produce proof if you think it's true, because I can't find anything.

there's no exclusive content with AC Unity, meanwhile Far Cry 4 gets that exclusive co-op -even if friend doesn't have the game- mode on PS4.
Eh its important when one is suggesting that one company is "better" than the other in terms of making timed exclusive deals period. Isolating it to DLC only doesnt make either look any better or worse IMO.I don't see how that's important. My point was, naturally, regarding the birth of exclusive DLC, not marketing deals.
Exclusives are awful. That seems way too long
I find it hard to give a damn when Xbone got insomniac and respawn for entire game exclusives.

MS help fund those games that otherwise would be vaporware so yeah, they should be exclusive to them.I find it hard to give a damn when Xbone got insomniac and respawn for entire game exclusives.

MS helped fund those games though...
The COD exclusive content each and every year now.And people used to complain about MS getting CoD exclusives or exclusive content. That only lasts 2-3 months top but a whole year? LOL.
Content is not the same as fully fledged AAA title though....So? Sony is helping fund destiny by paying them money for exclusive content. It's the same logic of money given and product rendered. MS just payed more obviously.
Irrevelant or not its still true lol. It's really not. It's a completely irrelevant point.
It's really not the same thing at all. In the case of Sunset Overdrive MS is providing money that allows Insomniac to actually make the game. In the case of Destiny Sony is paying money to wall off content in a game that would have been made with or without said money. So? No, it's shitty, but you were acting like it didn't make sense from a business perspective.
Every Destiny add is a PS4 add. Every Destiny add tells you that if you wan't the full game, get it on PS4. The majority of people who are going to be seeing those adds will not have a PS4 or XB1, these systems are still extremely young, so the idea that people will already have their mind made up on which version to get is not true.
Huh? Did you mean to say its ever year and that lately it has the worst port of the titles? The COD exclusive content each and every year now.
Which also had the worst versions up into this point.

EA funded TitanFall not MS.

Yep. Console bundle, exclusive DLC, early beta/alpha access. I'm sure there'll be PS advertisements that will similarly show this around mid-late August. It's gonna give it a significant boost.

Because it's eventually coming to Xbox One. Why would Sony completely fund the development of content that would eventually release on Xbox One?How do you know?
No they would both not be vaporware. Titanfall was coming out regardless and Insomniac could have published the games through another publisher that would have let them keep the IP. In each case (destiny dlc and xbone exclusives) money is exchanged to keep an existing product off another set of consoles.
Key word HELPed.EA funded TitanFall not MS.
In order to make the economics work and keep Titanfall alive, EA needed a first-party publisher to invest. Xbox was willing to step up and save the project, which turned out to be a wise bet.
