I don't understand why this is a pie chart.. so out of 590million somethings sold (what exactly?) 490 are hardware and 100 are Mario Kart? Why is this a pie chart? Not to mention that there needs to be one hardware sold for every Mario Kart sold. Someone please enlighten me why they did this lol.

Edit: It's impossible (under normal circumstances) for the Mario Kart segment to take up more than 50% of the pie. The more I look at it the more interesting and bizarre it gets.

Just for info; I believe there might be a time limit to both claim and then download the free game.

I've been following wii u sales and have slowly but surely been convinced that it's going to have a solid library of over 20 games I really want to play which is more than I bought on the 360.

I bit the bullet last week and bought one with mario kart and I have to say I am really very impressed.

I feel like a real Nintendo warrior saying this but I'll say it: buy a wii u!

I'm not shocked that it moved two million copies, but I must say I'm impressed they did it in just a month. Curious to see what the ceiling on this title is. Mario Karts usually have legs as long as the console generation, so maybe it'll be able to reach Double Dash numbers after all.

I don't know why you're posting it either, not sure why an exclusive to 3rd party ratio has any bearing on anything.

Well, that's good for you, but I'm still not sure why those games not being on those platforms is a good thing. What about for consumers who like everything in one place, which there is arguably a lot of?

Released 6 years ago, Mario Kart Wii is still #58 best selling game on amazon. Understand it didn't sell 35 millions in 3 weeks,"very front loaded" is not something that characterizes this series.

That's a great start. Mario Kart 8 confirms its phenomenon status vs games like Mario 3D World, it's a total different beast.

You're right. Yet MK8 is a game we build parties on, I've seen 3 friends buy a Wii U after our sessions already. These guys had tried 3D World, and with no intention to buy the console afterwards. I can also see kids reactions with MK8, it's the world cup, we have lots of dinners these days with friends who bring their kids. MK8 drives them completely nuts. Reactions to this game are unlike anything I've seen with this system.

Not even close to being anything as awesome as the Gamecube. I know, I had one. Also had NES, SNES, Gameboy, N64, DS, Wii. So I can say with confidence the Wii U is it's own unique thing, very much so not like anything that came before.
