That was a bit awkward. Asking about Nintendo games in a Tecmo Koei conference... Miyamoto somehow deflected it by saying Hyrule Warriors is also made by Tecmo Koei :p

I'm still surprised it's coming out so soon in September. It makes me worry about the localisation. Surely Nintendo won't be evil enough to not localise it... again. It would show a real lack of vision too, because while it is currently a niche series, the perfect fit it has with the Wii U hardware--which is sorely lacking in almost all Wii U games so far--could very well dramatically lift the sales of the game. It's such an intriguing idea, the gamepad as the Camera Obscura; it must have a lot of potential if marketed right.

Apparently, according to Fatal Frame translator, Chelsea (who helped in the Fatal Frame IV translation and various Fatal Frame guide translations) the literally translated title for the new Fatal Frame game is 'The Wet Crow Shrine Maiden'.

They did localize Spirit Camera so that might be the ray of hope.

The term Nuregarasu can sorta have two meanings in this case.

It's used to describe the color of a woman's hair, but in this case it's meant to evoke the image of horror, which is where I think she got the Wet Crow bit from since the kanji for it literally is "Wet Crow."

Sort of a hard thing to translate because you can only really pick one piece of imagery of the other. In this case, I think wet crow or some spin on it is the best way to go. Though honestly, I think people should just roll with some variant of the JP title so things don't get confusing if it does get officially picked up.

Reading this on mobile with short lines of text makes you look really desperate...

...and I am too.

How is that possible? How did the horror genre died on consoles - the one place these games should really be a success?

I was even excited about "the letter", an e shop horror game, until I learned it's a three minutes game. ...

I'm guessing they did not attract too many gamers unfortunately; with the exception of Resident Evil games back in the day, I rarely heard of console horror games selling very well. I don't even think the Silent Hill series ever came close to selling half as much as the Resident Evil games. It is a big shame too, as a lot of these games are just brilliant! Thankfully horror games are popping up a lot more now.

It was the ONLY horror game last gen that actually made me scared and seriously fear the next chapter. Fatal Frame, earlier Resi's and Silent Hills all had that as well. I think theres a pretty good chance we get a new Siren after Gravity Rush 2 of course.

You know what? I think it was the only horror game that scared me last gen too. I also think it looked amazing visually and sounded amazing back when it came out too. A new Siren on PS4 would kill me with joy <3

This. Though some people didn't like it because they simplified it a bit too much, I liked Siren New Translation/Blood Curse and I think it's one of the best horror games of the PS3/360 gen.

I really, really want Siren 3 or Siren 2 remake :(

Agreed on all points! Game blew me away and the plot is underrated too. I would love the Siren series to continue, so badly. I wonder how the PS3 version sold overall (download + retail).

that woman was the president of koei tecmo. apparently a very powerful and intimidating lady from the stories i've heard. i am not joking.

someone in the chat wrote 'ms. hiroshi yamauchi?' seems a little accurate.

Is she the reason behind Nintendo's close relationship with TK?

if so I like her very much

Not much, I'm guessing. I did my part though.

she may be for some kinds of the deals that have been worked through. combining pokemon with nobunaga's ambition really benefited kt more than nintendo, so nintendo probably got something else out of that partnership, or that game was requested in exchange for other collaborations.

thanks, seems like TK always gets the most out of these, Nintendo has not gotten a huge seller out of TK, quantity over quality so far

Fully plan to buy this. Don't really expect a sale on the PS2 classic titles because of it, but a few questions.

Are they all worth it at $10 a piece?
Do they usually have sales around Halloween?
