I doubt that. Source?

Look up BDXL. I'm just not that tech savy to know if you need a special drive or not, quick Googling makes me wants to say that it's doable. But like I said I'm far from being an expert. They go up to 128 GB per disc.

I thought they said if thye ps4 could read it or not but I'm not finding the source right now. If I'm wrong sorry.

Edit: Seems like you need a more powerful laser to read those disk. I was wrong then. At least I learned something today !

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I know, the size is absurd and insane and all, but there's something else that caught my eye...59.99 pounds? Are they 150% insane?!? That's equivalent to €75, wtha the hell.

The price in the UK is about right for a digital download.

Between £54.99 and £69.99 is "the norm"

Don't you need twice the download space ot install anything on a PS3? I'm still using a launch 60GB, so I stick to optical media, but, geez. Wouldn't you need to have 124GB free to download and install this?

Yeah, game sizes are getting out of hand. this is just sucking up our bandwidth and drive space for no benefit at all. The overwhelming majority of folks can't even tell the difference between compressed and uncompressed audio unless you're an audiophile with a $10,000 setup in perfect environmental conditions.

Now that is some serious hyperbole. I can tell the difference on my Pioneer SP-FS52s which I got for only $77 a piece at Fry's. You can buy really good and accurate stuff for low prices now a days (if you look for deals) and your assertion that you need a $10k setup and have to be an audiophile is ridiculous. Not to mention being able to easily tell the difference on any decent pair of $150-300 headphones.

My PS4 HDD will no longer hold all of my purchases. I'm not sure anything less than 2TB is worthwhile this gen if you want to avoid reinstalling/download, and even that is probably inadequate. What's the biggest the PS4 supports?

You can't have next-gen without 50+gb installs. It just doesn't work with all the AIs and megatextures and flac audio.

Usually, digital prices at launch = MSRP. Is 59.99£ really the MSRP for Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition PS4?

The soundtrack is good, though.

Agreed...in fact the Reaper of Souls is DAMN good. One of Blizzard's best.

It's just that when you run adventure mode for dozens of hours, you typically get sick of the game's music and want to hear more upbeat music as you zone out and blast monsters.

Probably put all languages in one download or some really high bitrate vids. Seems excessive for that game.

It's probably a combination of that with every language on a separate, uncompressed video file instead of audio tracks.

Intro_Movie_Eng.mov
Intro_Movie_Ita.mov
Intro_Movie_Spa.mov
Intro_Movie_Ger.mov
Intro_Movie_Fre.mov
...

Just a clusterfuck of uncompressed video that is tied directly to its audio, just for Europe to
endure,
enjoy!

It looks like they really need to start adding Language Pack Install Options when you download a game on the store or start installing a disc to your HDD. There's absolutely no reason for someone to download 4-10 different languages at 4-6GB each in Europe (or anywhere else in the world) if the only thing they want to play the game in is French.

I fully appreciate high quality audio, but there's no reason to waste all that HDD space and bandwidth on shit people don't need or want.

PS4 should technically support any 2.5" HDD that is Sata II or greater with a height of 9.5MM

Likely we'll get larger than 2TB at some point in the next couple years so the potential storage for PS4 will also grow in that sense

I can tell the difference with just these http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00001WRSJ/?tag=neogaf0e-20

You honestly didn't expect next gen game sized to be much larger? There was a reason I was complaining early on that PS4 needed both USB 3.0 hard drive support AND the ability to swap the internal one. 2TB isn't gonna be enough. It never was.

If I recall correctly, that could be the size X 2, so install size may be half.

Something about games needing double the space to unpack and install

2TB isn't enough? How many games do want to keep on your console installed? You do realize you can delete the stuff that you are not playing and always reinstall whenever you want.

Uncharted 3 is 43.5GB on PSN but the actual game is nowhere near that big. Like some people have already mentioned, it's probably the multi-language stuff.

Does the PS4 do the PS3 thing where you need double the HDD space to install something?

But you have to install the games regardless right? Physical or Digital, both will have crazy big files since the PS4 doesn't actually read files off the disc.

I can play the game while it installs to the HDD with a disc asap. Can't do that digitally w/o waiting until x amount of data downloads first.

Yeah but with the physical version you can play the game after only about 30-60 seconds of initial install. With the digital version, even if the PlayGo size is 5-7 GB you're still waiting a half hour to an hour depending on connection speed.

We sure that's not just the space required for the download and install? I seriously doubt it's that large.

I don't want to have to do that. There is no reason I can think of that Sony shouldn't allow both external hard drive support and internal drive upgrades at the same time.

If you're talking about some trashy low bitrate mp3s, then of course you can tell the difference. However when you're talking about high end lossless compression and uncompressed, chance are you will not be able to notice any discernible difference without near perfect listening conditions, excellent equipment, and a very well ear trained.

Holy shit! O_O

Seriously, that's all I have to say. I just upgraded my bandwidth limit to 130Gb and this shit is still intimidating as fuck.

I'll go retail, as always so far.

EDIT: Oh, that's Europe only? Sorry guys...

my 2TB HDD in the PS4 winces

edit: why are there people surprised at the price? cheapest I could get D3 and RoS together on PC was $59.92...

It's amazing how many people don't get this. You aren't saving space by buying discs.

I save space by buying discs on my PS4. When I stop playing a game I delete the install. If I want to play it again 6 months from now I insert the disc then start playing again once the install reaches high enough. No point in keeping things installed unless you are going to play them again.

My C: drive is a 128GB Samsung SSD, and after Windows updates, etc., I only have about 90GB left. Thats with no games installed.

So I hope this shit doesn't become the norm this gen.

Ah gotcha! Never realized there was a difference.

I think most people have ISP cap issue.

That makes sense too.

Also worth nothing, not sure if anyone already posted this, but the PSN link when viewing from browser, lists the game at 26.1GB, which sounds way more accurate.

Both consoles didn't get blu-ray drives for nothing. They need that space. You honestly didn't expect games to stay in the 10-15gb range did you? No, 40-50 will be pretty much the norm I think.

Who said that they didn't expect next gen game sizes to grow? No one is against logical growth. A console game being 4 times bigger than the exact same game on the PC is not logical. If that is because people are being forced to download uncompressed audio and language files then that is unreasonable and I'd like to see that policy change -- at least give people the option of what type of audio they'll download.

Lossless compression is... lossless, so it will sound exactly like uncompressed audio, no matter the environment.

If you think audio in this game is actually UNCOMPRESSED, you're wrong. I bet it's not even lossless compression.

SMH @ all the people begging for inferior sound quality.
