Responses like this always make the other person sound like shit, so funny.
Hahaha yeah. Maybe Kiefer was like, "Oh, this asshole talks shit? Tell TMZ he's a worthless cunt and I should have used my exec producer clout to kill him off."
Rep: "Ok, sure, mr. Sutherland." Then he writes what we see. Hehehehe

It would have been nice if Freddie Prinze gave any examples other than just bitching about Kiefer's height and having to take his shoes off. I know Kiefer has had his share of issues in the past, but whining about working with someone nearly five years after the fact is sad. Prinze comes across as unprofessional in all of this.

The one thing from shitty Season 6 I was always slightly bummed on was that they never followed through on the "Josh Bauer is Jack's secret love child" plot line they heavily hinted at.

what? never got that hint?

Just rewatch some of the relevant portions of S6. When Graem finds out Jack's alive and back in the US, the first thing he does pretty much is scold his wife. It's pretty clear cut Jack and his brother's wife had a thing, if not only from their interactions when Jack and Marilyn are together (always full of tension) then from how Graem outright accuses her: "You never got over Jack, did you?"

And then there's just how much Josh looks like Jack compared to his own dad. When Jack sees Josh for the first time in 7 years, he just sort of stares at him in disbelief, and is probably thinking "Oh, shit."

Anyway, outside of the show, Howard Gordon went on the record saying that in the writers' room they were working on the assumption that Josh was Jack's child and wrote scenes and cast the part with that in mind.. Later on in the series they toyed with the idea of having it be instead that he was Phillip's son, IE Jack's brother, and that Phillip had raped Marilyn without Graem ever finding out, but that was dropped.

I always thought Josh was Jack's son...and I'm kinda glad they never had a big moment about it, because they made it obvious enough, and during season 6 it would have been even cheesier coming out and admitting the relation.

I remember that Philip's son rumor!!!! That would have been horrendous for any season of 24.

I Knew they had a thing but I always imagined that was before Jack knew Terry. Damn poor Terry how many more times jack fool around with other women

Yeah, don't doubt that Kiefer's able to get super intense and probably somewhat dickish sometimes. Don't know if that warrants an insult of his height and professionalism. Clearly if he was a massively unprofessional person they wouldn't have renewed the show for a limited run or have made it through 8 seasons/194 hours worth of programming.

I can't speak to how massively professional or unprofessional Kiefer is to work with, but even if he were the most difficult person alive, that wouldn't really matter. 24 was an enormous success for Fox and nothing was stop them from keeping that going for as long as possible, short of Kiefer dropping dead.

Reading this post makes me wonder just what the hell went so badly in the writers' room that year. Everything about this family angle was so ill-conceived from top to bottom.

Aisha Tyler and Sara Gilbert defend Kiefer Sutherland
Sarah Gilbert (played Paula Schaeffer in 24 Season 2):
“I worked with Kiefer on 24 and he was amazing, so polite, always there for our scenes. So when [Freddie] says everyone had that experience, it’s just not true.”

Aisha Tyler (played Marianne Taylor in 24 Season 4):
“I worked on 24 as well, I had exactly the same experience. In fact there were days where our characters had phone conversations, and he would come in. He didn’t have to shoot that day at all and he would come in to read his off-camera lines which never happens on a show; usually you have some stand-in or an assistant do that. He was incredibly present, so polite, sweet to everybody, knew everyones name.”

how did I forget Aisha Tyler was on 24? Dammit it's been too long since I did a rewatch of the earlier seasons

Yeah, I remember hearing about that Phillip thing back then too. They just messed everything up that season.

Basically, that season was the season where they wanted to make Jack have a somewhat grown son. Dreams of Jack Jr. That died when he kept yelling out "GRANDPA!" and "UNCLE!"

I'm up to season 5 and it has been great so far. Also how do they decide who gets a silent clock like why did Edgar get one but not Not Michelle?

sigh

because its used when the scene calls for it. Palmer and michelle didnt get one because their deaths were shocking and relentless. the viewer is not supposed to be able to catch their breath, unlike edgars death which had a longer anticipation time.

also, where the hell would the silent clock have gone for Michelle? a commercial break three minutes into the episode? lol

Finally caught up. I liked it until they decided to kill their interesting main villain and solid threat with like five episodes to go and then have three new factions and moles and twist after twist. That's pretty much generic 24 so it was to be expected, but still I'd much rather have a single villain than how they closed out the mini series

I feel like if you had a single villain it'd be more of a drag to keep that villain alive

Eventually she had to expire

Yeah, her relentless "Cut off my daughter's pinky! Kill her husband in front of her! Kill the sister! Kill her daughter! Kill the hospital people! Kill the President! Kill everyone in London!" shtick had been played out by the point of her death.

She was a bit too one note, which is a shame because they could've shown a little more of her compassionate side since she was arguably seeking revenge for a bunch of civilians and children that were killed (although conveniently they were also terrorists in training).

It took me a second to realize who you were talking about.

Really? Margot Al-Harazi was "their interesting main villain"? She was basically as one-note and predictable as 24 as a whole has seen.

Any new info on where the series will go from here? Or should I expect that things are gonna go dark for at least a few months if not longer?

I've bought the 24: Deadline novel that just came out to deal with my 24 withdrawal, hope it's good

Let us know! I liked that 24:Declassified book they did after S1 but never read any of the other novels. Been semi-curious.

I would like to know also how it is! I've read the comics and they are pretty great. Currently reading Underground It takes place after season 8 and before 9. It show's how Jack was surviving while on the run.

Yeah, I'll let you guys know what I think of the book when I get around to read it. In the meantime, 24Spoilers has a very positive review.

Wow, didn't know they were doing the books again. I passed on the previous one's as I don't usually care for side fiction, but this sounds like it fits in exactly where I want it to and answers about the Russian President.

Yes please keep us updated, though I think I will have to pick it up now.

Ok the Deadline novel is pretty good, I've read up to chapter 8 and I'm quite enjoying it. I wouldn't have minded it being season 9. There are a ton of references to past events from the series and the PS2 game; also that FBI guy from Season 7 who was telling Jack how he was being treated unfairly is now a main character. The writer seems to be very knowledgeable about the series, apart from some mistakes like calling Morris 'Miles' at some point and things like that.

So far I completely agree with the 24Spoilers review, the book is reminiscent of the first seasons, is very engaging and never drags for too long. There's also a character who I never expected to be back after so many years (Spoiler)
Jack asks Chase for help in order to get to Los Angeles
and they explain what he has been up to during that time.

If any of you guys are on the fence about buying it I think it's very well worth it.

Thanks! That seals the deal, I'm going to pick it up. You mentioned they answer what happened to Russian President Suvarov. Anything about President Taylor?

God damn it, I went on vacation and though I could just Skygo the last 3 episodes when I got back...but the show had an expiry date.
WTF? You removed the whole show once the season ends? That kinda defeats the purpose of the service...no?

About Taylor... not much, only that she stepped down and the vice president who was in Season 7 took her place. I haven't finished the book yet so it might still say something else about her, I don't know.
