Smite |OT| Release The Quacken

Emotes were removed, but the chest is still kind of lame, honestly.

Very. The one guy I play with (almost) everyday owns everything. So when the King skin came out and I was playing the lottery to get it, he got it straight away.

I think the secret to winning Domination is to throw the early game, that way you're not in the lead and your team doesn't get greedy and lose the game trying to take the the third point.

So I took your guys advice and rented Mercury for the day. He's good, very good. I had not been playing him correctly when I last tried him. This time around I max his 1 ASAP and focus on spamming it. (I used to barely use it at all — d'oh!) His 1 is sogood.jpg. A spammable aoe (super aoe with Golden Bow) that can crit! It clears minion waves easily, which is great because minions are extremely important in Arena (a lot of players don't seem to realize this). But the best is when you land a crit 1 in the middle of the enemy team and chunk their HP away.

And that's just his 1. His 3 is amazing for initiating and escaping. It's especially good against Loki, because every time he tried to ambush me I'd just toss his ass to my teammates and he'd get blown up. And Merc's 2, oh god yes. I don't have to build attack speed until my very last item (Qin's Sais). His ult is actually my least favorite part of his kit. It's fine and all, but I don't use it very often. It's great for chasing down a low HP god when his teammates aren't near. Overall Merc has an incredible kit. I'm honestly surprised I'm just noticing this now.

How do you guys build him? My skill build is: 1 > 2 > Ult > 3.
My item build is Warrior Tabi, Golden Bow, Deathbringer, Jotunns, Malice, Qin's Sais. I was debating between Jotunns and Titans Bane, and I chose Jotunns because the mana and CD reduction allowed me to spam his 1 more.

I go Ninja Tabi > Rage > Golden Bow > Deathbringer > Qins > and then whatever I feel like, usually Malice for that 80% crit chance.

Skills: 1 > 2 > Ult > 3. I get leave the last point on 3 till last but get the rest early on.

Try not to skip out too much on physical pen. A Titan's Bane will make those red critical numbers really pop.

Be careful with Mercury in casuals as Odin and Arachne are everywhere and Odin blows mercury up pretty hard early and late game. Depending on your build though Merc can be pretty unstoppable. My build on Merc is generally War Tab,Qin's, Dev Gaunt,Jotun,Deathbringer and I leave the last slot open to counter build depending on who I am facing.

So I think I have about 3 or 4 gods I really like playing. Nu Wa, Athena, Bastet, Neith, and Sun Wukong. I think I like 3 of them for their mobility and the way they can initiate fights. Nu Wa can't do that, but I like that she's kind of an aa mage. Anyway, are their anymore really mobile gods you guys think I should try out?

Serqet is the most mobile god in the game. Fastest movement speed, two abilities that let her zip around. Mercury is literally built around going fast, you'll probably like him if you want mobility. Thor and Bakasura might work for you. I really love Chang'e and a big part of that is because she's so squirrely - probably not exactly what you want, but she's faster than most casters. Some of these are initiators, some aren't.

Also if you like the idea of an AA mage, you should try Freya and Chronos. They're ridiculously strong AA melt your face mages.

Hit rank 5 with my first god, Vulcan. Took me forever as I only play arena but I'm so happy. He's easily my best and favorite god. You just know that passive rework is going to come eventually, and it's going to be so good.

The most satisfying part about getting kills as Vulcan isn't even the ult kills. It's juking someone with just meatballs and backfires till they just melt. That's satisfying.

(Sylvanus?) Patch notes coming this Friday.

Apparently Mercury will be getting a nerf. I saw it posted on reddit last night but now I can't find the thread.

In other news, I tried out Rama. I do not like him. He has no aoe! That was killing me. Most hunters have at least some form of aoe or nuke, but Rama is pure auto attack. No thanks.

His 1 penetrates ranks like neith and his ult has a potency->area aoe setup. The guy's bigger hang up is that he has no form of hard CC compared to others and worse energy management post change. He belts out damage and that's about it.

I don't even like ADC much but Rama is really fun. Roll right up to a dude, cripple him, hit your steroid and your slowing arrows, break him down enough to ult and snipe him for the kill. You can clear waves and box out most enemy hunters so easily with Rama. He's a total bully in lane.

Also I hope Sylvanus' kit is something fresh with its own play style. A forest god has some really cool potential, but the character design team / guy / or w/e has been so hit or miss these past few months.

I've been playing a lot of Ah Muzen Cab lately, really like him. I wish he had some sort of escape or maybe the slow lasted a bit longer. Really hard to escape when shit goes wrong. Perhaps a shorter CD on the hive would help too.

But when you get fed as him he gets insane.

Anyway, from reddit:
Okay, here's the info I got from Dev Talk so far:

Sylvanus is a Guardian. He is ranged and his basic attacks damage in an AoE. Currently on-hit item effects apply to the entire AoE.

His passive roots enemies for 1 second if they hit him. It's on 12sec cd, can't be affected by CDR.

His 1 plants a seed that grows over time. Once bloomed it grants MP5 in an AoE. Can have up to 3 plants but MP5 can't be stacked. If the seed hits an enemy it will damage and root. The enemy can destroy the plant, but will be hit by protection reduction debuff if staying within the plant's AoE. The plants don't grant vision.

His 2 targets enemies and allies within an AoE around him. Sylvanus summons wisps that will heal allies and damage enemies over time. Sylvanus himself is always a valid target for this spell (he will heal himself).

Ability 3 is the Arachne pull. No damage, goes through walls, can't hit allies.

Ult is an AoE knock-up. Didn't notice whether it deals damage. (EDIT: apparently it damages over time).

Bottom line: Sylvanus is a highly defensive support that focuses on sustain and utility rather than damage.

His kit looks really good to me.

hes going to be the one i hope to get every assault thats for sure tanky with healing and a ability that can give mp5 and he has arachnes old ult mixed with a aoe knock up

Aim-able AOE AA? That's pretty cool. The rest of his kit is pretty interesting too (though his ult isn't very original). Cool to see them try some new stuff.

Treant Protector, Enchantress, Alchemist

Why don't you just steal more designs from Dota like wow

I can't really blame them, Dota has so many unique heroes and spells...

Chronos has Weaver's ult.
Aphrodite has Io's tether.
Arachne, now Sylvanus, has Pudge's hook.
Loki has Riki's blink strike.
Nu Wa has Zeus' ult.
Thanatos has Axe's ult.

I'm sure there's more but you get the point. There's many many cool spells to steal from Dota, I don't think they'll be able to help themselves.

New God Sylvanus

Sylvanus

Nature’s Protection - Passive

Enemies that successfully land a basic attack on Sylvanus have a 25% chance to be rooted for 1s. This may only happen once every 12s.

Verdant Growth

Sylvanus throws a seed to a target location. If it hits an enemy they will take 80/100/120/140/160 + 35% of your magical power as damage and become rooted for 2s. If the seed lands on the ground, after 10s it will grow into a flower providing 6/10/14/18/20 MP5 to nearby allies. The pod can be destroyed by basic attacks, exploding and releasing poisonous spores that reduce protections of nearby enemies by 5/10/15/20/25 for 5s. Cooldown 12s. Cost 60/65/70/75/80.

Wisps

Sylvanus releases wisps that seek out nearby allies and enemies. Allies are healed 25/35/45/55/65 +15% of your magical power every 1s for 5s and have their protections increased by 5/10/15/20/25 for 5s while enemies take 10,15,20,25,30 +10% of your magical power every 1s for 5s as damage over time. Cooldown 18/17/16/15/14s. Cost 60/65/70/75/80.

Nature’s Grasp

Sylvanus's treant launches his rooty hand out in front of him. The hand stops at the first enemy god hit, stunning them for 1s and pulling them back towards Sylvanus. Cooldown 30/27/24/21/18s. Cost 70/75/80/85/90.

Wrath of Terra

Sylvanus's treant slams his large trunks into the ground causing large thorny roots to break out of the ground around him. Enemies hit are knocked up and take 60/70/80/90/100 +25% of your magical power every 1s for 5s as damage. Cooldown 90s. Cost 100.

Patch seems pretty good. Sylvanus looks dope, new matchmaking will be rolling out soon-ish, new attack speed items, Cabrakan might finally be in a decent spot, and Mercury was hit fairly.

Disappointed that He Bo, of all the Chinese gods, got the Odyssey skin, one that's more or less a recolor with a voice pack.

I just got 5500 favor so I can buy a new god. It was gonna be Mercury but I wonder how hard this nerf will hit him. It seems pretty reasonable, but you never know until you try it. The two main gods on my radar are Ah Muzen Cab and Hercules. AMC is pretty cool but not having a leap or dash really sucks. Herc is awesome even though I generally don't like playing warriors. I'm still leaning towards Merc...

Pretend you are buying a new game instead and just buy the god pack. It's so worth it not having to make those decisions and be able to use the favor for skins and animations instead.

Why do people pick Ares if they don't know how to use the ult? Just a half dozen failures that cost us the match. Ugh.

Had a game today where the last guy on our team was supposed to be support, but picked a Thor and went into solo lane. I was solo Chang'e and around 5 minutes I said fuck it and just went to support our ADC while the Thor just fed their team for like the next 25 minutes. Luckily, their most fed was Thanatos and that's about the time that he usually falls off so we were able to make a come back.

The best part is that I had a friend with me and we were the only ones not F6ing for all four abandon calls.

Never give up.

Yeah, I had some really bad days, but I also had some good days (which was mainly playing with at least a 3-stack). I can't wait for this new matchmaking.

Does the god pack still exist? I thought they removed it after the beta.

Edit: Oh shit it did, sweet, I know some friends who would be interested in this.

I completed every mode except Conquest on Sunday, but it took too many tries. Kept getting shit teams with people picking heroes they didn't have a clue what to do with. Tried Conquest twice, but was a disaster both times. Had one game with both Aphrodite and Cupid... and they both decided to go in the same lane. I pointed out what a stupid idea this was, but they didn't listen, even after losing the lane to a single enemy hero.

I used my favor to buy Ah Muzen Cab. In the end, I prefer ranged to melee. I'm really glad I chose him, because:

I'm off to a damn good start! I thought his passive would be useless (it never scared me when I was fighting against him) but I've only played 3 games so far and it's already secured several kills that would have gotten away. What skills do you guys build first? I have been maxing Swarm ASAP because it's a good nuke and great for clearing waves. Next in priority is his ult of course, and then Hive. I basically ignore Honey until everything else is maxed, because it just doesn't seem worth leveling over his other skills. But who knows, I could be dead wrong.

Side note: I was looking at my Smite profile and I've been playing since September 2012. 2 years! Where has the time gone?

Nah, I'm too cheap. I don't really spend money on video games anymore. I think the last game I bought with actual money was Xenoblade in 2012 (totally worth it). Since then it's been F2P games or games I buy with Steam credits that I have from selling CS:GO and Dota 2 items.

Hah, can't argue with being cheap. :p

And AMC is really fun, yes. I started playing him last week and he is pretty fun. I usually start off with Devour's Gauntlet on him for even more sustain early game (this together with the hive makes it easy to solo the Titan fairly early on in Siege after you get attack speed and crit damage item). If my friend have a good wave clear, I focus more on the honey until I start to stack with the Devour's Gauntlet for the slow to make an early kill easier.

Why do people even like this god!?

Dude needs a skin that has him decaying and then finally turning to dust to represent how much he falls off.
