AC UNITY patch worsens NPC pop-in. Ubisoft actually puts in new spawning animation.

Wow, really, as if bugs improved in patches is something new. To patch a behemoth like this without introducing some new problems is virtually impossible.

The arrogance of those who can only complain but probably never created something themselves which is even close to this effort is really making me sad.

I'm sorry if I come off as rude, but this game's development has been nothing short of hilarious, if not embarrassing. Frame-rate, pop in, bugs...this game can barely run on consoles. Now the patches come bugged as well.
Combine all that with Ubisoft's PR.

No, I've never created something like this, and probably I never will, but there are developers out there who really pour a lot of love and time into their games and release a quality product. Look at GTAV.

Fact of the matter is, this shouldn't even be happening in the first place. Ubisoft gets no free points or brownies for doing something that should have worked on day one. Trying to diminish the point to policing patch issues is an indication of that the company's well being is above and ahead of consumer's money is just plain sad. Let the frustrated consumers vent as much as they can to keep awareness as a warning for any company trying to pull off the same stunt again.

I mean... the game just should have been delayed to next year, like Watch_Dogs was. They didn't have to release it. But, ya know, holiday season and $$$$$ and all that.
Well yeah the man in suits need to eat also in there financial quarter very important for there stockholders.

I really don't understand how the pop-in managed to be in the game in the first place. That should have never made it into the game and they should have cut their NPC count down to the point where it could *never* possibly happen to begin with. Then they should have put in a "MOAR NPCS" option for the PC version so that they could jerk off to their NPC count for marketing. This shit compromises gameplay way too much and it's annoying as hell to constantly run into this stuff in game.

So wait we are not allowed to critique bad design and business practices? What's next film/game critics not being allowed to critique movies/games without making one first?

If we paid for it, we can critique it.

Besides, I would expect the same from anyone who bought something that I made.

The fact that there are people defending Ubisoft and their annually low quality, but full priced, products is sad...
No i've never tried to make a game, but i also never took money by selling a game.

Is some people really this desperate to validate their purchase? Accepting sub-par products just to say "this is REAL next-gen"?

This is bad no matter how is spin... The game shouldn't had been released, but greed is a powerful force. And they just created the perfect market for it.

But did you ever make a big mistake that you had to fix ;) and did you do everything in your power to fix it? Because it looks Ubisoft is doing just this..

What more do you want?

I am not saying it isn't bad.. it is....It is what it is... the game got released and is a mess. And they are fixing, and communicating, that's all you can do.
You might not like it, and have another opinion, but that's your problem. (to be blunt)

It's not a big deal.
I don't even like AC, but this is a non issue.

Well, to worsen something that was worse to begin with certainly causes some issuses for other people if not you.

It's like you would realease DayZSA on PS4 on "ultra" settings and they would need to turn it down to "normal" while simultaneously disabling 4GB of RAM from the system to make it run better and worser at the same time.
Still think this is optimalization issue and overexceeding what those specs can achieve on this engine.

I see what you're saying, and on any other day I would agree with you, but Ubi is also currently blowing smoke up our asses with the whole rigorous quality control BS after releasing a game with some really wild bugs.

40GB F that, fix this MS/Ubisoft. I don't buy physical games for you to patch the entire game later, every last GB.

Pop in is not good but if it's going to happen this is actually pretty damn clever, to take advantage of the plot like that to make it seem normal.

I want to know why my damn patch is 40 goddamn gigs. Unless it's re-downloading the game, there's no reason for a patch to be so ridiculously huge.

They shouldn't have released it. Respecting your consumers, fan base and yourself should be a priority.
It's not my problem because i have not bought an AC since ACII and won't buy or play any future title of the franchise. There are many reasons for that, and Ubisoft being Ubisoft is one of the reasons.
Every November i laugh with their fuckups and i cry for those poor souls thinking "this year is gonna be different".

I wonder how much it will take for the first DLC to "pop up"....

Ah, the old 'well you can't do it, so you can't criticise' chestnut. You do know that there are entire industies of people whose job it is to criticise things they can't necessarily do themselves, does that make you sad too?

You don't really need to be sad on behalf of a multi-million dollar corporation either. If this sort of criticism made Ubisoft sad they might resist the urge to push unfinished games out the door to snap up all that holiday money, but I doubt it upsets them too much.

True, but I'm pretty sure November's NPD upset them a little bit.

It would be best if you were to avoid using this fallacy.

And I am happy for them. It is an awesome game if you don't have NeoGAFs standards.

Stable framerates and no npc pop ups right in front of the players character. Yeah that is too high. We should lower our standarts to: able to start the game once in a while.

I am disappointed in Ubisoft. Why give customers the pop-in animation for free when you can sell it as DLC? Ubi needs to focus on its core business.

You guys tired today?

At this stage, they should just issue refunds or give everyone who bought the game (not just the season pass) some form of compensation because this getting to be pretty damn ridiculous.

It's clear they'll never be able to fix it entirely, it's time to stop pretending otherwise, swallow some humble pie and admit defeat.

Played for a couple of hours just now, didn't notice the animus glitch visual thing for the pop-in at all. And I'm no Ubisoft apologist.

Yeah just played on ps4 for an hour (patch installed). There is no "animus glitch" animation. The pop in is visible but it isnt too bad IMO. Framerate is 25-30 now, maybe a 3fps improvement to the game overall. Game itself is gorgeous even on ps4....

I'm completely fascinated to see how AC Victory turns out after this horrific launch. Surely Ubi's engine will perform better?

Will people forgive Ubi that quickly?
obvs yes

I'll be buying this for £20 when it drops. Too much of a stink around this AC.

Interesting, if the reported effect is true, then it looks a lot nicer than NPCs just popping in, which is something that would be a performance necessity on current-gen hardware. It's cool that Ubisoft is working to make their game better.

I don't actually own Ass Creed: Unity, and I have no love for Ubosoft, but it's always great to see developers trying to make their games better!

We need more webms.
It would be great if the OP were updated with the rest of the impressions of other users who actually own the game and if the title was fixed due to the fact that it's false since that animation isn't new IIRC.

Yeah sure. I'm 15 hours in, have 0 technical issues, i have noticed pop-in but I can live with it (never had a NPC spawn right in front of me tho), game is stable and gorgeous. All in all I'm having fun.

Guess I have very low standards

Animus needs that hardware upgrade fast ! lol

But clever from Ubisoft to use it as excuse. What can you do if Animus Ingame is not strong enough for that brilliant simulation called AssCreed V xD

The major problem with bugs like this pop in stuff is that Ubi put so much effort into building a realistic and beautiful Paris and it seems that by most accounts they succeeded, but how can you POSSIBLY become immersed in it when dealing with shit like this??

The pop-in in the GIF in the OP's post is beyond ridiculous. That shit affects gameplay.

Welp, it was ok while it lasted Ubisoft. With so many 2015 games actually trying I'll make sure it is years before you ever see my money again.

I guess the save corruptions issues could be contextualized as animus hackers trying to slow down opponents by refolding their genetic memory. I give this idea to you for free, Ubi!

Because if mine and the other users post patch impressions are to be believed, the webm in the OP isn't a common occurrence. Never once have npcs literally popped up in my directly in front of my character as I was sprinting. I'm harping on this particular issue because I cannot stand misinformation.

That's fair, I have not played the game so I'm only going on impressions. I am happy to hear this isn't that common then as I do plan on giving this a go at some point

So if my car breaks down I am not allowed to complain unless I've built my own car first?
