Look at some of the scans, they look like that because they are.
why is it that they're doing this AND deep down? two medieval fantasy combat games that are free to play. I understand there are differences between the games, clearly, (deep down seems to be more of a confined dungeon crawler whereas dragon's dogma is likely much bigger in scope) but it still just seems odd to be doing both of these games at once. I'd love to hear the story about how this came about.

It won't be out at the same time. I'm pretty sure Deep Down takes a lot more time to get finished.
Trailer looks good with that oh so familiar combat style so I'm happy. What I'm not too happy about is having a cross gen version. Hopefully it won't effect the PS4 version too much (if a western release ever comes)
The "Hub" world looks great although I'm getting a kind of Monster Hunter vibe from the game. I hope there's a lot of free-roaming in it and not just "go here and kill dragon #6" etc...

I see Zero problem with that. It has everything from Dragon's Dogma :
- Action Oriented combat
- Climb the fucking monstersssss
- an open world
+ now a valid framerate, possible coop and the potential to be updated forever.
We basically just need mounts (afaik there were none in the original and this basically ruined exploring the world) and now it's the DD game I've always wanted.
Now Capcom don't be stupid and announce it for Europe soon

It's not competitive ganes, why would you care if there are microtransaction that are shortcuts or cheats for the more casual player.
Unless the game balance is made purposefully broken yo force you buy microtransaction, I had no problem with easy mode dlc.

The characters are looking so much better....can you imagine that character creation system this time around. The waterfall place looks quite nice.

the MHO thing basically makes it look like a trial until 15 monthly fee to access content. which wasn't too bad until I read about everything else which screams "let's make this a grindy hell with a lot of artificial difficulty" in terms of affecting the games design

On a similar note, wouldn't be surprised if we see DMC5/DmC2 semi-soon given the trademark news that came about right around when DDO was first rumored to be a thing.

When the initial announcement came to light I was not sure what to make of it all. This video has convinced me! I'm all in! Now in my top 5 most anticipated games. Loved the original Dragon's Dogma!

This is a lot better looking than I expected after reading the announcement thread. I've never actually played DD. Got Dark Arisen on PS+, but after loading it couldn't handle the image quality so missed out on it, always regretted it though.
Anyone know if they said it'd be cross play? The fact that they've kept to Playstation consoles is making me think that were will be full cross play between all three platforms. Which I really hope is the case as a lot of my friends are PC gamers but I much prefer playing action games on PS4.

One thing that I hate is that given this is a Japanese developed game which happens to be successful for them in the West, we will most likely have to wait and unnecessary. Of time when a game like this is tailor-made for Western audiences.

I actually miss out on a ton of games. I wish I could play the games I do have. Around Dragon Dogma something must have been out or launched that had my attention more. I watched videos of it, the night being very dark and that had my attention, then the MP news made me feel like I'd get it whenever. I never remembered.
