It's good though, if they ever make a proper Sleepy Dawgs 2 it'll have a lot more people interested in day one.
Pretty much. But I also loved Sleeping Dogs and it was one of my fav games last gen. Whereas I was kind of meh on Watch Dogs by the half way mark and then checked out by the final act. Sleeping Dogs is a much much better game overall.

I remember seeing trailers for Watch Dogs back in 20XX, but not making any mental note of the name. A few months later, Sleeping Dogs was released and somehow my brain said "Oh, it's THAT something-Dog game! BUY BUY BUY". While I was initially disappointed by my purchase error, I loved every subsequent minute of it.
Watch Dogs on the other hand was mediocre at best. So congrats Sleeping Dogs! You owe one sale to Ubisoft's marketing department.

Story, characters, and melee combat - Sleeping Dogs
Driving, stealth, shooting mechanics, graphics - Watch Dogs
Sleeping Dogs is heavily focused on Hand-to-hand encounters, and has the best protagonist in modern video games. Watch Dogs is like an open world Splinter Cell with possibly the worst protagonist in modern video games. Both have great soundtracks, both are great games.
The hate Watch Dogs gets here is absolutely ridiculous.

Sleeping Dogs was so under-appreciated when it came out.. It's such a fun game.
It maintains a fresh feel with story, gameplay, and just overall look and feel. It was absolutely one of my favorite games that came out in 2012.

also, the game has fun with lots of silly jokes. like the famous wedding cake delivery game over screen. seriously, can't recommend this game enough.

Sleeping Dogs.
I haven't played Watch Dogs, but Sleeping Dogs is one of my favorite open world games ever. Better than GTA IV in my opinion. I really liked the emphasis on melee combat, and while there is gunplay, it is significantly different from most third person shooting mechanics in these types of games. I really hope they make a sequel one day.

Sleeping Dogs if you want a nice mix of Batman-style fist fights, cover shooter gunfights and driving. The open world Hong Kong setting is infinitely better than Watch Dogs and the characters have a lot more personality.
Watch Dogs if you want mostly shooting and AC-style stealth segments. There are some pretty clever uses of hacking and the shooting gameplay is really tight and fun. Online invasions are basically hide and seek but it's surprising how tense they can get. It's a much better third person shooter than it is an open world game.
My vote goes to Sleeping Dogs.

One more for Sleeping Dogs. I wasn't interested in it when it came out, but when I got it for free with PS+ I checked it out and couldn't stop playing until I beat it. I eventually ended up buying it on a Steam sale with all the DLC and replaying it. So good.
Watch_Dogs on the other hand... I bought it at launch buying into the hype, and I had to power through it to make myself feel that I hadn't just blown $60 on a sub-par game. I beat it and never looked back.

I'll be one of the few that says Watchdogs. If you take that game for what it is, as opposed to what what Ubisoft said it would be, it's a solid open-world game. it's third person controls and stealth mechanics are light-years beyond any other openworld game.
Sleeping Dogs was Ok but I can't think of a single memorable thing about it.

I played Sleeping Dogs on PS3, and enjoyed it. I've considered buying the definitive edition.
I played Watch Dogs on PS4, finished it, and sold it.

Sleeping Dogs. It is a lot more fun and the hand-to-hand combat is very satisfying.

IMO Sleeping Dogs is better than Watch Dogs in pretty much every regard, except for gunplay. The melee combat is brilliant and fun in SD, the characters are excellent with really great storytelling and the environment feels unique and interesting and more alive/interactive. Watch Dogs does a few things well, but is pretty mediocre overall for the genre. Plus, Wei Shen is an awesome motherfucker and Aiden Pearce is an abhorrent douche.
Out of Sleeping Dogs or GTAV, however, I'd say GTAV wins by a fair distance. It's just such a fun playground, with so much depth and detail. It's probably the best open world ever.

Both are great, but watch dogs has really great gun handling especially for stealth sections. The world seemed bigger too. Sleeping dogs combat was a bit janky to me.
