The obvious is that if the game had indeed been cancelled, Sony would have had no qualms in saying so, just like for countless others.

I think the real wall of shame should have pictures of some of the leads responsible for doling out information about the game. (Shu, Ueda) They don't bother to say anything, wtf are we supposed to think? In the highly unlikely event the game ever comes out (its not coming out) I will gladly wear a wall of shame mention as a badge of honor for holding these people's feet to the fire for their active inactivity.
edit: (Ueda not so much for giving out info as he's not in that position anymore, but for his failure to deliver.)

Is it wrong of me to feel such hatred towards Ueda and his team right now? The guy managed to fluke out and create one of the best experiences in video game history - and since the reveal, I've been looking forward to The Last Guardian.
But it's nothing but dead. What a complete fucking imbecile of a company. How can these fuckers even have an employment left? How are these "HARD WORKING people getting payed by doing absolutely jack fucking shit for 8 years?
If I was Sony, I would've fucking payed the janitor 20x more than I'd pay that Facebook-casual Ueda and the team of his? HAHAHAHA, I would call Wada and let him hire them for the FFVII: Remake. They would work fast with that, I presume.

It's not a "team." TEAM ICO AS A SEPARATE ENTITY DOESN'T EXIST. It's an EXTREMELY LOOSE designation of SCE Japan Studio employees that has absolutely no meaning.
If SCE Japan Studio employees aren't working on The Last Guardian, they're just working on another project.
That's what they have been doing for the past 7+ years.
Do you REALLY think the same people have been working on the exact same project for 7+ years and would even still be employed for that? Hell no.
Not even Ueda has been working on the same thing all this time.

Hey man, we are currently in a world where Square apologized for the way they give out information and promised to try harder.
They can turn this around when they re-reveal the game and keep us posted every month or so.
Assuming the game is dead because all they've said is "it's still in development" is quite the pessimistic view.

He's a talented designer. Was he working on other Sony Japan Studios projects? I know he was supposed to have left Sony, until TLG finishes that is. But this has been years ago as well, nothing in the meantime?

Ueda hasn't revealed it. But he has been spotted in the credit sections of a couple of SCE Japan Studio games.
From a November 2013 interview:
Question: How do you keep your team motivated over a production cycle of five years or more?
"In the case of The Last Guardian, my creative work was mostly finished a long time ago, but the details of when, where and how it will be completed are beyond my control."
Question: What did it feel like to leave a company where you had worked for so long?
"When I worked at SCE, I was on an annual contract, so it was not as much of a change as those around me might think. Recently, I’ve been working at my home office and often at SCE’s Shinagawa office in Tokyo."
Question: What are you working on now?
"The Last Guardian and the rest is secret. Outside of games, well, just for a hobby, I’d like to try my hand at art."

It's less relevant from a business perspective than it is a legal perspective. All it means is that they didn't renew their IP registration in time. As long as no one files an application in the period in between lapse and refiling, they will be fine--and even then, they would possibly win in court based on their prior use.
