Why does he wear the mask!?
(This isn't a dig at OP)

Whats the point of letting people know a games gone gold, etc?

Is it just so people know it's complete and there is no chance of a delay?

I feel like the term "gone gold" has lost meaning these days with how many games are broken. Especially when it comes to Battlefield.

Can't imagine this doing very well after two poorly received betas and the catastrophe that was BF4 at launch. Best of luck to Visceral, though. This looks like the first Battlefield game that I will not be purchasing (I've bought them all since BF1942 back in the day).

I have been a diehard fan of the series for the past thirteen years. Hardline will be the first Battlefield game I wont be purchasing. 4 started the downward spiral in a big way - now this junk. My oh my the mighty have fallen.

That and teams are always really, really excited when they finish a project.

As a diehard veteran of the series who has put hundreds of hours in every entry I have no enthusiasm about this one. Granted those reload animations were nifty, but this concept already feels played out. They aren't going to win the payday crowd, and the taste of BF4 still lingers. I love BF, DICE and Visceral but there's something about this game that just feels off the mark to me.

So no day1 patch? I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if it's the case and will consider it an achievement!

There is always a day 1 patch..i do not expect to see this have a good launch also after BF4 to me i am not buying it tried the 'alpha' and 'beta' but such a chore and very boring not worth 60 euro's at all.

...What big issues BF4 has now?

They had a patch last year that addressed most of the problems.

Hardline Beta was pretty solid too. Some wonky balance irks, but it still was good.

He's talking about BF4's launch issues, and that Hardline will most likely suffer the same fate. Its a given no matter what.

The game has gone gold, but the required patch that will make the game playable will go gold in 6 months.

Battlefield 4's problems were fixed last year. Hardline runs on the same engine in a very, very similar setup. The beta was fine. Why would they have launch issues?

I'm going to contrast a fair amount of the opinions here and say that I couldn't be more excited for this.
Like many of the people here, I've been with the franchise since 1942 (even though I was 8 at the time...) and it seems people seemed to have forgotten what the series is.

It was never about hardcore, sprawling modern military warfare really, it was about massive warfare in different theaters of war. We had World War II, we had Vietnam, we had the future in 2142, we had a quirky modern spin-off series in Bad Company which for many was the pinnacle of the series, and then we had the modern military warfare in Battlefield 2, 3, and 4.
Hardline is just another setting in the series but you still have the vehicles, objective focus, massive player counts and pretty much everything that made Battlefield, Battlefield. First and foremost, it's fun. It's in the same vein of the Bad Company series where it just doesn't really give a shit.

I don't know, it could just be me (and it seems like it is) but I think that the game has just gotten a bad rep from that first Beta and its probably going to hurt it a bit in sales. Here's hoping they ramp up the marketing campaign with some commercials and social media promotion and manage some decent sales because I would take a fun spin-off and creative sequel any day over another modern military entry that takes itself as seriously as a heart attack like Battlefield 4 did.

To let people know there's no delay, I'd assume. That or just celebrating they're "done" with development and now it's into support/bug-fix/DLC mode.

I think its to circumvent the problem of the OT only going up on the day of release.

What the fuck does Battlefield 4 have to do with this game?
The issues were addressed already on BF4 and it's not being developed by DICE.
