Battlefield Hardline |OT| Battlefield FIVE-O

Don't forget Best Buy is going to sell this game for $39.99 ($31.99 with GCU discount) starting this sunday 3/29 for a week. if you bought it at best buy at launch you should be able to call in and get a price adjustment since its still within the 15 day return window (45 days for elite+)

I traded my launch copy into Best Buy for $38.50, paid $38 for it after preorder bonus so a nice week long rental. I'll probably rebuy on PC when it goes on deep discount in the fall, fun game but just gets a bit too repetitive for me to play past level 30. I didn't even come close to the multiplayer plat trophy.

That's right. Best Buy will owe me some money on Sunday.

Just finished the campaign... I really liked it. It was so different from past Battlefield games. I kept to the shadows in every level and silently took everyone out. I also did all the evidence and arrests. Best Battlefield campaign so far.

Thats how i played it.
Felt really different from a battlefield game, it was like a stealth game almost playing it with nothing but take downs and a taser.

The shootout sections arent half bad either....i didnt get all the case files, but ill replay them next time XBL gets DDoS'd or im in the mood for some SP.
But im glad other people liked the campaign as well....def different from other modern shooters.

Tried campaign last night, just finished episode 3 and ehhhhh. That arrest mechanic is really jarring, it's far too binary. There was one instance of three guys standing together, one a bit closer than the other, and because I hadn't got into the FREEZE range for the remaining two the first one surrounded and the other two started firing (this is on hardest difficulty, not sure if that makes a difference).

Don't like how there are some instances of guys obviously grouped together waiting for you to shout FREEZE either. Or guards who will just stare off into distance for all eternity, waiting for you to arrest them.

I like that it's different and I'm liking the general vibe of the campaign but honestly, that arrest mechanic isn't contributing to my enjoyment of campaign. If anything, it feels like a needless bother.

You dont have to play it stealth.....if you want get some automatic weapons and play it like any other shooter. Maybe that will be more your style of play.

Stealthing the game can be fun, and if you stakeout the area nicely you will notice the guards patterns and all. And like all stealth games there are some guards who are seemingly just there waiting to be taken down.
The guy smoking a ciggy for hours, or the cook pretty much every stealth game has a few of those characters.

As for failing the freeze, thats all on you buddy....get close enough to gather all 3 before shouting freeze, if you are too far away obviously the other guys nearby will get alerted and feel they have the advantage.
I actually like the freeze mechanic when you are trying to arrest guys partnerless and if you arent aiming your gun at one of the perps his red bar fills as he gains confidence to try taking you, so you have to keep aiming at them to keep them in their place.

Heist, Hotwire and Blood Money....this really cant be called a Copy/Paste job, these game modes are amazing.
Some of my friends who arent Battlefield fans are really impressed by these game modes and are considering converting to BF.
Everytime they come over to my place i make sure to give them a taste of Hotwire for the car guys, and objective fans Blood Money and Heist.

Just throwing this up again because unfortunately I got stuck on the bottom of the last page...and this thread isn't exactly moving fast anymore!

Add me up on Xbox One!

Need some people who play mostly later at night. I'll be on for a while tonight and want to get a GAF squad going for some double XP!

I get that you are wilfully misinterpreting what I'm saying because you like Hardline and want to present a defence of the freeze mechanic but I'm talking about three guards standing together and shouting FREEZE only working on the closest guard because the other two are standing just outside of the 'radius'. Even though all three of them are standing close enough to have a group conversation.

It's jarring and it's ridiculous.

Right, but I didn't actually say the guy smoking a ciggy for hours or the cook, which at least would seem believable. I said the guards staring off into the distance for all eternity. Which they do. And isn't believable. And it's ridiculous when it happens in other stealth games as well. And just because it happens in other stealth games, doesn't mean we should lower our standards and decide because silly mechanics are present in other games it's suddenly okay in this one too, otherwise games would never progress.

But hey, you like the mechanic, I don't. I get it.

So I received my (free) copy in the mail.

But the game kinda sucks... not really enjoying it at all after a few hours. Campaign is pretty poor so far and the characters are really annoying.

The multiplayer feels even worse so far despite enjoying the beta. Conquest merely feels like an afterthought. Despite being delayed, nothing feels polished at all. Practically nothing in the larger maps is destructible.

Visceral's catching hell for the multiplayer graphics, but check these next-gen rats

The IR scope is so good.

I also decided to save up and bought the Elite outfit. You have to buy it for each class on both factions. :| There's nothing else really to get, so might as well start.

Concurrent players staying at least 5:1 ps4 to pc. Enjoying the game more and more... think I might pull the trigger on the Best Buy (gcu) deal this coming week.

Dumb question, fairly certain it's a "no," but: Is there any way to close the side/rear doors on the van?

No.

If you're seated in the rear, they're always open. If you get shot up too badly, quickly switch to a different position inside the van (providing it's not full).

Yeah PC players must have a hate for this.

Sure, it's not much like Battlefield with it's stealth and focus on CQC, but damn, some shit is fun. Blood Money is an insane game mode.

Also I love stealth.

That's brutal. I think the Elite gear looks good, but that price is ridiculous.

You know those wooden windows on Dustbowl in the numerous houses, well I went to melee one to get a better view.

LMAO

It's one of those rare times I wish a game like this had a killcam, just so the one you knifed could see it. Because I bet he was like "WTFFFFFFFFFRRFRFRFSERSDFHGSDFR"

I beat the campaign a few days ago and granted it has some story problems but damn it was so much fun. I really enjoyed the switch when the game went from being Bad Boys to Mission Impossible. The dialogue wasn't as grating as BF4, characters were interesting, visually it looked beautiful. As for gameplay I enjoyed the fact that they abandoned the silent protagonist nonsense and the partner AI would follow you around instead of you being the follower. Its a shame this game has been getting a lot of hate because I found it to be a breath of fresh air in terms of AAA FPS.

How I feel about the singleplayer as well. I was really skeptical about Hardline in general but it's scratching an inch right now that 4 didn't.

Going to pick this up today at Best Buy. Which system should I get it for PS4 or Xbox One? Any performance differences besides resolution?

Ya I was wondering what the general concensus was on the ps4 vs xbox one for this game. Who has more players playing on it ect.

I know the xb1 version has a lot of screaming kids on it. Really making me say screw the 40 rank I have and switch over. Hard to mute a whole lobby full of kids every match.
