Pillars of Eternity |OT| You must gather your party before venturing forth.

41,787 most concurrent players on Steam for PoE

the highest concurrent player amount for Divinity: Original Sin was a paltry 21,953 in comparison.

the thirst

To be fair, Divinity was very much a word of mouth hit. PoE has a much bigger built-in day one audience.

The priest spell Withdraw is horribly overpowered. Wonder if they will nerf it quickly to stop the invincible tanks from blocking doorways.

Did the MSAA 0 command, turned Vsync off.

However, it's still just as choppy as I imagined it'd be. Totes a slideshow situation. :(

Paging Durante and/or GeDoSaTo users
casual questions imminent

I've never used GeDoSaTo before; is it possible to use GeDoSaTo to lower the resolution to something like 800x600?

Browsing through the thread, I've created a GeDoSaTo.ini for Pillars of Eternity using the following lines you've suggested to another GAFer-

clearRenderResolutions
renderResolution 800x600@60
forceAlwaysDownsamplingRes true
modifyGetCursorPos true

However, are these 4 the only lines I need to include in the ini?
Do I need any more lines from the main config/GeDoSaTo.ini to make this work (if such a thing is even possible)?

Currently, with my gibberling-tier GeDoSaTo settings, the game crashes instantaneously after clicking the shortcut

Just a bump, if anyone could kindly help

How do you deal with the spirits in Caed Nua? They stunlock my frontliners and have high defenses in everything it seems. What's their weakness? (playing on Hard)

I think out of all the voice acting for companions Durance is the weakest. I dont really like it honestly, but hes so damn useful, I keep him around.

I'm at the keep, and every door I go in results in a black screen. I need to kill the program to exit. Is this a common bug? Is there a workaround ?

I'm getting this when I try to exit the keep, doesn't matter which exit I take the game crashes. Going to have to wait for a patch because there is nothing I can do now :(

So I've played around with a few different mains, but still having trouble picking one. Considering I want to play with the scripted characters on the first play through, is there any particular class you guys recommend?

Google it

You have to delete the 2 exterior Raedric files in the saved game.

It is a known issue

edit:

1. Open 7zip and go to C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity in 7zip

2. Open your savefile inside 7zip, in my case 49c623f3-dc4c-4eb7-be78-4e5f14755a5c quicksave.savegame, and delete all the files with Raedric in its name.

3. Open Pillars of Eternity and enjoy.

You don't have to delete all the raedric files, just the ext raedric files.

What character stat is checked to uncover the pink lootable stashes while in sneak mode? Is it perception? Mechanics?

I'm still really early in, ~6 hours, but the first two companion you get are a
wizard and a fighter (who is a great tank)
and the third is a
priest
, though I haven't quite gotten that one yet. I went cipher, which I'm having a blast with so far, she's doing a ton of damage and CC, and made a rogue and druid at the Inn. Druid so far is incredible, she's doing a ton of damage in cat form and has a bunch of per rest spells which are super good, while the rogue isn't quite pulling his weight yet, though I hear they do absurd damage later on. I'm not sure if you get a cipher, druid or rogue as a companion later on, though.

Anyone able to sum up all the content contributed by backers?
Some of it is severely creepy and fucked up, I feel like russian roulette every time I reach in to a soul
Fuck
Vulture
at the Gaf Inn btw
Occasionally you get some great gems
Mort du Jest
is the best though

Can confirm this works. Just found the reddit thread about it an hour ago and got it to work(both exterior and interior).

Just an FYI: it resets the "state" of the level(from what I've seen so far), so take care and use it in a "safe" spot/near where you actually want to go, otherwise you might end up in the middle of a group of bad guys you thought you cleared.

I agree he is always low health for me like I will have 3 characters exit a battle with minor scratches.. Durance has like 5 hp left..

what am I doing wrong?
Put some heavy armor on him and give him a gun. I just have him as a healing fountain sitting behind my 3 tanks.

Edit: Also minor spoiler,
as soon as you enter the main City you can buy a pretty cheap ring that gives him 3 extra spell charges from one of the merchants in the trade quarter. Super useful.

Keep him in the way back applying buffs and healing.

Keep him way the fuck back.

I try to but it seems like when I have him attack someone he runs up to them like he's a melee fighter or something....

also what are his healing spells? I haven't been able to level him up since acquiring him are they starters? (I know he has his buffs and his endurance healing aura)

when you guys say healing do you mean endurance regeneration or actual health? I thought the only way to restore health in this game was through camping/staying at an Inn

His default weapon is a bostaff...do not use this at all. Like ever. Yeah endurance is essentially HP. Actual health is not really important in the heat of combat, only after. He should have minor endurance regen in both tiers I and II.

He has a staff and a wand(?). Stick to using the wand and just pew-pew with the occasional heals/buffs.

There's one Paladin skill that heals health, but is limited to 1 use per rest.

what's a paladin?

They mean endurance, no way to actually heal people's health from what Ive seen.
Yeah, just hand him a gun and sit him far back.

I need to find a gun then.. still early because I restarted due to the equipment glitch.. I did the two sidequests in Gilded Vale (mother and blacksmith) and I'm on the 2nd floor of the temple of eoth now.. not sure if I should go to Caed Nua next or Raedric's Keep

Well, I found my first quest-breaking glitch. I hope that's all it is. It's in "The Parable of Wael."
I buried the scroll, and now I can't return to the House of Mysteries without it's inhabitants attacking on sight. Will I need to go back there for story reasons?

Well, they certainly kept up the tradition of casters getting ridiculously OP late game. With a Wizard and Druid in the part, everyone pretty much just screens for them until the AOE has its way. You done me good early on, Ranger player-character, but your time to shine is over.

Also, on the bug front, I had some ogres cast plague of insects on my ranger's pet and the particle effect won't go away.
