His globetrotting spirit (and ability to speak six languages) set him apart in comedy, and he performed widely in the United States between 2010 and 2012, eventually coming to Mr. Stewart’s attention about two years ago.

Six languages. Damn. That's awesome.

I'm quite familiar with him from British TV, he'll do well I think, dude's very charismatic and has a sharp wit. It will undoubtedly be an uphill battle for him, but I think he'll prove to be as good, if not better than Stewart when it comes to the interview stuff.

Really smart guy. And really into issues. And kinda funny. I get the sense that he's just not a very fun guy. Honestly, he'll probably be better as the straight man to the correspondents than as a correspondent himself.

I don't think I'd be satisfied with anyone they could name just because I can't imagine the show without Stewart. I'll give it a shot though.

Least funny guy ever

Jon Stewart isn't that funny either. He's got a good team of writers and is passionate about some important issues, and very good at discussing them in skits or interviews. I think this is a good pick if they want to continue what Jon started with the show after 2000.

I wish him the best of luck...but man, I just can't see anyone else in that seat but Jon Stewart, the deck is definitely stacked against him.

I've seen him a couple of times in the UK - most memorably on QI - and I have to admit, I rather like him. I'm curious to see how he'll do.

I like him well enough the few times I caught him on the Daily Shows injecting international perspective on shits people in the US ignored.

Could work I guess, if the writing staffs don't all quit with Stewart.

As far as Daily Show correspondents go, I'd probably agree. I really don't get this choice.

I'm trying to understand it myself.

The guy has an interesting background, and his language skill set is definitely impressive and they'll get some good mileage out of that probably. But him as a host feels like a stretch. I hope CC knows what they are doing.

Never heard of him, I'll gladly give him some time but hes got some big shoes to fill.

Interesting of Stewart to hand things off to a relative unknown instead of someone more established.

He's only been working there for 5 months and he already gets the top gig? Well alright, I wasn't going to watch without Stewart anyways.

His first act as a correspondent wasn't great, but it improved afterwards. After watching that standup routine someone posted I'm a bit more confident.

Honestly they are in a no win situation since the most qualified person left a year too early. When John Oliver was hosting the quality didn't drop a single bit.

It must suck for Comedy Central to lose their 3 best talents within a year.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Unexpected choice, I am certainly interested to see how he does. Hopefully he will find a groove to settle into without too much trouble. I would hate to see TDS end up either being canceled or morphing into something too far from what it's been for the past decade or so.

I like the choice. The dude is funny, and very smart. He always came across as someone who knows what he's talking about.

I think it'll work fine.

I thought it was going to be Jessica Williams.

Huh.

I don't know this guy so I don't know how to feel about it.

I think that's why he gets the top gig. Setting aside that other correspondents like Jessica have said they don't want it, I think it makes sense they want the new lead to be someone who wasn't entrenched in the old system

Not really sure how well he'll do on the show but he seems like a nice genuine guy.

He has a documentary on Netflix if you want to check him out.

He seems kind of funny I suppose, but how is he with politics? I wonder how genuine he'll come off when he's ripping our politicians (and fox news) to shreds. I guess before that, I wonder if he'll even be doing that.

I think the only one that could actually replace Jon Stewart is John Oliver. Unfortunate he got another gig, basically doing the same thing, lol. I think Aasiv could have been cool, too.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this choice, especially because he seems smart enough to fill the interviewer spot.

For those who wanted Jessica Williams, care to elaborate why? I never saw it.
