Happen to know if there will be an English dub accompanied to the title, or will it just use the original audio?

Full English dub. No original audio, though, sorry to say. (We tried!)

Even if there isn't any of the life sim stuff, is there any romance in the story at least? ;-)

Oh, absolutely!

1. Will the patch that Japan got be in the NA release?

Yep!

2. Do you know which folks from Neverland joined Marvelous? Are the Neverland folks part of their own team or just another group of folks under the Marvelous name like the Story of Seasons and Senran Kagura team?

I... don't think I even know the answer to this, nor would I likely be at liberty to talk about it if I did. Sorry!

Thanks for the response and such. I appreciate it.

I was only vaguely interested before, but when Tom vouches for it like that, I feel obligated to give it a shot. I'm such a sucker for well developed characters.

Is there any chance on a EU release in any way? I thought with Rune Factory 4 out here I would be safe but since I have a new 3DS on 9.5 and RegionThree doesn't work there I don't want to feel bummed again :( Also the music in the trailer was awesome!

What's with Xseed and kusoge recently?

What's with Taruranto and dismissing cool strategy RPGs recently?! Because this ain't no kusoge, dude! ;)

...Curious what the other "kusoge" in question might be, too. We've been on a roll lately, releasing some pretty damned good games!

Remember, just because you don't like a thing (or most likely in this case, don't think you'd like a thing) doesn't make it bad.

Tom, why would you say Kinki no Magna didn't do so hot in Japan, considering it looks to appeal the japanese niche crowd just fine?

I think solely because it was marketed as the next game from the creators of Rune Factory, and people bought it expecting a Rune Factory-style game that was a strategy RPG rather than an action RPG. And if you go into Lord of Magna expecting something as deep and involving as Rune Factory, you will definitely be disappointed -- the game is much more straightforward. There are no real sim elements here, aside from a few choices that determine your relationships to each of the characters, affecting their battle skills and very slightly affecting some ending dialogue -- it's mostly just battles and story, like any other tactical RPG.

The appeal of Lord of Magna comes from its unique combat system (that encourages bowling down enemies as if they were pins), its cute and highly polished appearance, and its charming and likable story and cast of characters. If you go into it expecting all of that, as opposed to Rune Factory Tactics, then you'll most likely enjoy the game quite a bit.

Not sure where else to post this, but in case anyone with a Japanese 3DS is interested, the JP version is on sale for $9.99 at Play-asia right now, as part of their weekly special. At that price, it might be worth a try.

That english voice-acting is really bad. Makes my ears bleed.

Does XSEED games usually come with dual-audio?

Really? You must have exceptionally high standards, then, because I thought the English voice-acting we got for this game turned out great. It's not our best dub ever (that honor goes to Akiba's Trip, as far as I'm concerned!), but it's very solid, with the voices closely matching the characters while still sounding natural in English (or as natural as can be expected in this game world, at any rate).

We try to include dual audio in every game, but usually we're unable for one reason or another -- either we can't get the voice rights to the Japanese and thus have to make the game English-only (which happens to us a lot), or the cost to dub the game is prohibitively high and we're forced to present it with Japanese-only voices (case in point, Corpse Party, which not only has a huge cast of voice-actors with a ton of lines each, but also utilizes special binaural 3D recording techniques that I'm not even sure any studios around here are capable of replicating).

We were able to offer a choice of languages to players of Akiba's Trip and Killer Is Dead, and will be offering that choice once more in our upcoming Onechanbara Z2: Chaos, but we weren't able to license the rights to the Japanese voices for Lord of Magna, so I'm afraid that game will be presented with an English dub only.

If anyone from XSEED can read me, I just wanted to say that I wasn't getting this game, maybe after a year or so if I could get it for cheap, but with that bonus 28-tracks OST, I'm getting it day-one now.

Gaddamit.

Can't believe I'm going to buy this for 50 quid.

Hope the waifus are worth it. $7.14/waifu.

You won't regret it. It's worth the price of admission for the soundtrack alone, as far as I'm concerned -- this game has frigging AWESOME music.

Will we able to turn the voices off?

Been into SRPGs lately with Devil Survivor 2 and replaying Fire Emblem. Thinking about giving this a shot. Art style to me looks like the perfect summer time game. Characters look so bubbly and full of life.

Too many games to play lol!

Not 100% sure, but I can't imagine why not. Virtually every game in existence these days has a volume slider for voice-acting, which you can just slide down to 0 if you really want to.

I'd say give the voices a chance, though. They might grow on you.

Who composed the music?

Same composer as the Rune Factory games, though only a few tracks sound anything like Rune Factory -- apparently, the composer was directly inspired by Falcom Sound Team jdk and the Bravely Default soundtrack, and modeled this score accordingly. And you can definitely hear those influences.

The chibi character model.

WHY

Because chibi is cute and underutilized in video games. I wish more games featured characters that looked like this! For me, it's always a selling point. ;)

-Tom

Morita Tomoko, same composer for RF, so the music should be good.

Going by Giant Bomb, that person also worked on D4. Is this the same person, as that person also worked on Neverland games like Lufia, so is the composer now freelance or at Marvelous and D4 was by another person?

The battle system in this looks like a ton of fun. That coupled with the soundtrack secured my preorder. Looking forward to trying this out.

I believe in you, Tom. Now that Mirai DX was delayed, now I'm definitely getting this.

It's not so much the quality of the voices I just hate waiting on them when I can read much faster than they speak which saves a lot of time when dealing with large amounts of text in RPGs. I only listen to Japanese voices since I'm trying to work on my listening comprehension.

Had a very passing interest, but the battle system, soundtrack, and lighthearted nature of the game put me over the top. Pre-ordered today. No clue when I'll find the time to play it, but had to have it. At least I'll enjoy the music on the ride to and from work.
