Witcher 3 downgrade arguments in here and nowhere else

Just watched the Gamespot review, and downgrades aside, the game still looks phenomenal and much less manufactured and sterile than the way DA:I looked. But that game could look extremely good at times too.

The only thing I don't like about the aesthetics so far would be the single target Igni. It just looks like Geralt is shooting fireworks from his sleeve. It looks ridiculous. It's so silly in fact that it might actually prevent me from using it.

Say your thanks to the consoles.

Why, did the consoles create this game...has the singularity already occurred? Oh shit.

How about blame the actual dev instead. Not for just generally not achieving that kind of high end graphics or not wanting to push in that direction, but rather for promising just that stuff in doctored announcement trailers and PR bullshit when they actually can't deliver.

Consoles are inanimate objects, they decided jack shit and blaming them would proof rather ineffective.

Is there a specific, recent gameplay video that shows Hairworks in TW3?

I'm looking through Youtube, but the only one I see is that wolf demo from 10 months ago.

Or maybe I shouldn't spoil myself and just wait till next week for the Ultra footage + HW and have my mind (potentially) blown.

+1

I think the first Jesse Cox video has hairworks. There was another Youtuber who had it on too.

That's very depressing.

I miss games actually pushing graphics forward.
Yeah, I love when AAA games have to deliver such amazing graphics to satisfy the consumers, that they become so prohibitively expensive to develop and thus take fewer risks in terms of gameplay or storytelling. The AAA game dev cycle is the greatest thing about modern gaming!

Well, The Order is probably the best looking game on any system at the moment...so I don't quite agree. Also I think this looks stunning on all platforms.

What are you even talking about? Did I black out and miss half a conversation?

Does anyone know if the PC version will have greater population density, or not? Or do we just not know yet?

That's literally all I'm asking lol

Somebody should link this thread to CD Projekt RED so they can bear witness to the carnival of stupid they caused by daring to modify their graphics without informing us loyal customers well in advance!

Absolutely. Lovely turn of phrase "carnival of stupid". A+

I'm sure they know already. These conversations have been going on for at least the past year.

"Platform unification exists – we have a single build, which is distributed to each one of them. The game is the same; the draw distance is the same. Minor differences result from the fact that the GPU has different parameters on different consoles, which can result in, e.g., the changes in color temperatures."

does not sound like it http://www.gamepressure.com/e.asp?ID=51

Last one is PC?

graphics are good and all and if it didn't hit its target look thats fine for me as long as the gameplay is good and refreshing thats all im worried about i think graphics are more like a bonus not a end all be all thing

I don't think you'd have ever got the 2013 footage, consoles or not.

Why not?

Giant leaps in graphic fidelity was the norm for a long time. It's only recently that graphics have started to stagnate, whether that's due to budgets, underpowered consoles, etc...

Couldn't have said it better myself.

The difference when HW was toggled off was substantial o_O

How does this compare to something like TressFX? Is HW an NVIDIA exclusive tool? Is it present in the PS4 version?

It seems very similar to TressFX. I think Hairworks does a better job making the hair look right in different lighting conditions. Something I felt that TressFX (at least in the PC version of TR) or something like Unity did not do very well.

HW isn't exclusive to Nvidia, but it is PC only.

We're seriously comparing PS4 footage to the PC footage, which was presumably an in-engine target?

Kind of a douche move by Einchy to even post it. I was always under the impression that early preview was a PC target, always. Even if the PC didn't reach that, his comparison is useless.

"It will be possible to spot differences in, for example, Nvidia HairWorks, but those are very demanding graphically, so a strong PC will be needed. What I’m about to say might not be diplomatic. In the future you will be able to turn on the option of ubersampling, which, upon the release of The Witcher 2, was killing the game, and will probably do the same with this title, so we don’t want to unlock it for now. It makes the game look better, but the requirements are insane."

Ubersampling is confirmed for the PC version. That basically means there will be settings our rigs can't currently utilize. In short? This probably means we'll get something close in visual fidelity to earlier builds.

Ubersampling is just going to affect aliasing. I wouldn't expect it to add foliage, textures, and lighting effects.

Hardly any more "douchey" than all the other "comparisons" in the thread. This whole thread is littered with false equivalencies, exaggerations and lies. Personally I'm not willing to make final judgments on the basis of crappy YT video captures.

Then why the fuck are you even in the thread? Did I claim the screens were downgraded or something? I said it wasn't looking hot.

Plenty of other threads where you can sing praises to the game you know.

Umm, I did say I am here for the laughs, this thread is amusing.

How will the PC ultra version hold up against consoles?

Are all the textures and models the same?

Yes, there is only one version, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to make the game in time. We would have to take it all apart, and then build it and test it on three different platforms at the

so aside from the Nvidia stuff, they'll have same textures/assets as the consoles... even DA:I got better quality assets on PC. this is depressing thing to read especially that it's coming from CDPR.

I guess that why they dropped the 3d grass/better foliage then. oh well.

Agreed. It's a waste of time to compare until actual variables (those little ones like, oh, the platform) can be controlled.

Unfortunately, these shitty comparisons are still considered proof of a massive downgrade for some posters.

Sorry, it wasn't targeted at you. It's for the so many people who quote that post as some kinda proof of downgrade.

It's all good.

I think the footage from the VGX trailer, Nvidia effects video and SOD trailer were kinda mindblowing. I doubt we're getting that but I've downloaded all the rest of the pc footage on Gamersyde and it's still a damn fine game.

Talking about the Nvidia trailer, I guess Andy must know what's up and must be preparing the tweak guide. Curious to know if all the effects mentioned in the video are still in, like the forward lit particules and such.

Why are people still insisting on calling it 3d grass? It has always been mostly 2d sprites. It may have been more artfully laid out, possibly even denser and better looking. But it does get tiresome when people invent stuff.

These all look nice....until you zoom in to 1:1.

Yeah, the trees look like flat light green flakes(?) ... =(
I might switch to the PC version, but if the PC version is getting parity or something like UBI did with Watch Dogs, I'm not sure which version to get.

Maybe I'll wait until some genius unlocks those great visuals like someone did with Watch Dogs.

After changing colors a bit, the main problem is LOD and asset density

You're still comparing something that may have been played on a high end development machine with a ps4. So until you can tune those variables and checking the scaleability of such options this comparison is moot.

I think that the PS4 version is looking really great - PC player here

Image quality, foliages and textures are pretty bad at 1:1 scale imo.

Yes, there is only one version[...]To sum up, there are only a few differences between PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
I don't find that reassuring for the PC version.

I'd wait until the PC enhanced edition several months from now.

It will have all the needed patches + mods will have been released to improve game's assets.

You may wanna see the post directly above mine.

I'm skeptical the PC will be that drastically different from the PS4 version (without mods, at least).
