Sony: No Man’s Sky “treated like a first-party release”

Is the Ratchet & Clank remake no longer a real first party game now?

Is R&C remake will be on PC ? No Man Sky will be.

I'm just saying both Microsoft and Sony need to give more money to their real exclusives instead of third party one, nothing wrong with that statement.

This is great that a huge company like Sony is supporting this guys with great ambitions. I remember that the main developer of NMS had to sold his house or something like that in order to continue working on the game... However, it's getting tiresome to read and read and only read about the game without any clear information yet about what you can actually do in an infinite universe like this! Plus we still don't know if it's coming this year and people is already losing interest because it's been 2 years since it was revealed and still nothing. Obviously that will be a thing of the past the second they show a new trailer with a release date but still.

Retail disk copies on xboxone did outsell PS4. However with digital sales and bundles its pretty clear that Sony sold more copies.

Look at the graph that Bungie shared a few days ago about brining servers back online and player base, its clearly broken down by platform and the "lead" platform has a HUGE margin.

there are 5 lines and 4 platforms...i think reading anything into this graph is garbage

If you go to a site like destinylfg.net there is usually much more xbox one group requests than ps4 ones...that says little about original sales, but just believing playstation sold more is pretty silly without any hard numbers

Just because WWS gives money to their exclusives doesn't mean SCE(A)/(E)/(JA) will.

The reality of splitting up the creative from the sales/marketing directly. (Not saying that there's no market forces at work on the creatives side, just different people)

Given the enormous interest the game has garnered generally with mainstream media this makes sense.

It might not pan out, but there's clearly a chance the title is going to end up punching way above its weight if it clicks big time and it's certainly already got a ton of interest generated already.

If nothing else it's going to be an interesting release to watch and see how the general market reacts to it.

If that is true they should fund Morpheus support, it could be big.

Would be massive, I think.

Honestly, NMS launching alongside Morpheus could be a legitimate system/peripheral seller, IMO. I can't even imagine my first VR experience being something like NMS. That would be amazing.

That's probably because they have nothing else to put their full support behind.

Eh, it's probably better than anything they could think up themselves as of late.

3rd party is extremely underrated and 1st party overrated on here from both a business and critical perspective.

NMS news brings the carzies out.

Looking forward to seeing more at E3. I'm glad Sony is taking this game seriously.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe there are more group requests because it's harder to find players on Xbox? Just look at the thread on GAF and see how few Xbox players there are.

Seriously? Wht have they done to make you say that?

Use pubfund for Joe Danger while badmouthing 3rd parties and XBL Arcade.
Then suddenly release the sequel as a 360 exclusive with no word about a Playstation release as well as never porting the new Joe Danger 1 content over to their original fans. Just some mere weeks into the release suddenly they release a better version of Joe Danger 2 on Playstation with exclusive content after they kept their mouths shut and and scammed the Xbox players into buying the 360 version.

So if you happen to be a fan of Joe Danger, you often ended up getting fucked for supporting them early on.

Worldwide or US only?

doesn't read well for them, but looking at it they could have been an unfortunate puppet tossed between the two console manufacturers trying to one up each other...

And what exactly is good about Sony's (or any other scenarios with moneyhatting involving other companies for that matter) moneyhatting here? Lack of an Xbox One build..?

As long as they don't block the planned PC version as I don't really want to buy it on PS4, I'm happy for them to support an independent studio as they are, hopefully this will help Hello Games grow and develop.

The top line is TOTAL, each of the 4 others are specific platforms. It sold more on PS4.

Im now expecting a No Man's' Sky Limited Edition PS4

From a pure business perspective this all makes sense to me.

Likely Sony are not interested in spending how much it would cost to convince Hello Games to go full lifetime exclusive. From Sony's perspective, all they want is for it to help them shift a bunch of PS4s, and for it to be heavily associated with their platform. They get a hotly anticipated title launching on PS4 first, and no doubt part of the deal they are offering is going to be doing a bunch of marketing and such, like the stuff at Playstation Experience, and giving it a high profile physical and digital release.

From Hello Games' perspective, they've got a big company like Sony pushing their game pretty hard, whilst (I suspect) having retained the right to publish No Man's Sky across a variety of other platforms further down the line. It's extremely unlikely Microsoft will reject it in 6-12 months time, even if it was already on PS4, and it will no doubt sell well on Steam later on too.

They've done pretty similar stuff with their Joe Danger games in the past, but never to this scale, because those games weren't hot property in the same way NMS is.

The top line is a sum total of the 4 platforms (ie: total player base)... easy peasy.
