This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

If I have 2 accounts set up on 2 seperate Vita memory cards, do I need to deactivate the Vita from the current account every single time I want to switch?

When leveling up a softcap represents the level (e.g. skill @ level 25) where you begin to get diminishing returns. A true hardcap is where any future points won't give you an advantage in that category.

Makes sense?

Absolutely, nice to finally know what everyone is talking about, thanks!

A week or so ago there was mention in a thread of a currently common visual effect in games where the edges of the screen are darkened. Pretty sure there was a name for it-- what is it?

In game development, who's responsible for implementing controller rumble? Is it the designers or programmers?

So..... I just handed in a refund on Steam for a game I played 2.1 hours... Whelp. What are my chances?

Yeah, I know, sigh.

I need a wii u pro controller.

can't decide on this stoga one which has perfect feedback on amazon or an official one. Rather not pay £35+ for one.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00RRHTB8Q/

what do you think?
Eh... The Afterglow Wii U pro controllers are more ergonomic. I have one official pro controller and two afterglows. Sorry, don't know anything about the Stoga, though..

Edit: Forgot to mention, you can turn the LEDs off on the Afterglow controllers so you dont have bright assed lights right there in your hand.

How do I get the "Discover: Adjust your power settings on your PS4 now!" message from popping up every single time I turn the system on?

Also, how do I make it so my PS4 can never turn itself on? I'd like to leave it plugged into the wall but I've had three or four phantom power ons while I'm away from the house and I don't want that.

I own FF7 on Steam, but haven't booted it up yet. Is there anything I need to worry about regarding music or art that might be different from the PS1 version? For example, does the game use MIDI files for the music in the Steam version?

I wanted the confirmation that when the 3ds is formatted you can't use any backup data from the sd card anymore. Because nintendo told me to that before formatting and in the end it seems I lost every saves...

I'm on a boring "trip" from Thursday to Sunday. What is the most addictive 3DS Game?
Monster Hunter.

As far as I know, these backups are only for when you delete a download to make room on the SD card.
Don't you need to have Nintendo reactivate your NNID on that console after formatting?

I can associate the nnid by myself after formatting.
On the sd card, the console create a folder with a different name than before formatting, so I'm not too confident I will be able to make the savedatas work now.

Should I buy bayonetta 1+ 2 tommorow and get splatoon in august?

Or get splatoon first?

Depends how much time you have and what you're looking for. Bayonetta 1+2 will be there for you, Splatoon is pretty active and fun now. But it might not have enough for you if it's all you'll be playing for a while, and a big update is supposed to be out in August if I remember correctly with new modes and whatnot. If you want good single-player games to take your time to get through and whatnot and you're in the mood for some good action games then maybe go with that.

Not really a gaming question per se, but is it necessary to have a Giant Bombcast thread every time they release a new episode? Fans of theirs have a community thread for discussion. Should every podcast get a new thread every time they have a new episode?

I don't want to shit on anyone's thread so I'm asking here.

This is the reason that is cited in the community thread why a thread is posted. There is usually enough (a large number of posts) discussion per thread (every week) to warrant a separate thread for each episode. On the other hand, the beastcast receives less discussion per episode and therefore posters did not continue to post a thread for each episode. Moreover, posters who post in it usually do not engage with the community thread. Although, I also question the need for a separate thread too.

Others do it as well and mods don't step in, so you'll have to suck it up.

Going back a few weeks, it looks like they get around 3 pages worth of posts to a maximum of 6. That's a drop in the bucket for a community thread.

You might want to send a mod a PM (perhaps Emcee specifically) to receive further answers on this. It will definitley help to answer your question since the mods have the power to create rules to prevent this, given they have decided not to (yet!).

I don't think I want to go that far with this. It was more of an off the cuff question. I don't want to detract from anyone having a good time, but it is a bit obnoxious having to scroll past those threads week after week considering more and more GAFers are realizing what downers the GB crew is. IMHO, they perpetuate the cynicism that plagues gaming culture and the less exposure they have the less we'd see threads spiraling off topic with GB hate.

Definitely do message mods. They are always helpful, quick responders and can answer questions much quicker than posters. Moreover, there are no repercussions and they're private. They're handy posters!

There is a GAF extension on off topic that allows you to hide threads. I can't remember the link but this may be useful to you (although I disagree with the extension entirely).

With the amount of whining about Giant Bomb in the wake of E3 that people have been doing, I kind of hope they get more threads just spite all of you that can't shut up about them being the evil that rots the game industry these days.

In the angelo agnus fight in DMC4 vanilla, is it possible to buster the fish as nero? I can't ever seem to pull off the timing to grab them, and they seem to disappear after their attack.
