Saw Kare Kano, Koi Kaze and Nodame Cantabile. Don't know anything about Wolf's Rain, checked only the beginning of Lain so far and Honey & Clover was so annoying I dropped it 4 episodes in.
The former 3 are definitely all great and worth a watch with KareKano being my favorite. Depends on what you'd like to get into first though.
Kare Kano is certainly among the best coming-of-age romances and comedys, Koi Kaze has a serious and well done take on incest as well as depression etc., Nodame Cantabile has got some nice comedy and plenty great stuff concerning music. I personally don't think its romance is particularly great but it varies.

So this is pretty good. The art style is very pretty with great looking characters and good detail throughout the scenes. The music is good, OP and ED are very nice. The story seems interesting enough, I like the introduction of the characters. Shirayuki is pretty fantastic and absolutely beautiful, I love the Red hair and green eye combination, it's fantastic. She's so kind and nice; I also like how she's an herbalist. Zen is pretty cool and quite the handsome man; very fun and lifts Shirayuki up for sure. Mitsuhide and Kiki are cool side kicks too.
I think this will be a good one to watch as well.

Man I can't wait to watch this with Non Non Biyori as well when I get back. I'm looking for a good fantasy romance with the former and a really comfy anime with the latter.
Here I thought Summer would be mediocre but it's actually really better than I thought.

I remember seeing the first PV and not being impressed.
But now seeing the first episode, this show is beautiful to look at. It evokes the fairy tale atmosphere so well. The soundtrack helped too.
I loved the fluid animation for the characters. Also, the characters are interesting and likeable.

I didn't really watch much anime for a while after some weak seasons, but this season started out pretty great so far. Checked out five shows, haven't dropped one of them instantly. The winners so far are definitely Symphogear GX, which had an absolutely fantastic first episode even topping the excellent first episode of the second season, and Shimoseka, a show I didn't even really have on my radar.
Symphogear is at its best when it's balls to the wall ridiculous, and GX starts as ridiculous as it gets. Pure, fast, fun, hot-blooded awesomeness. The creators sure know what their fans love about the show: Crazy action, tons of J-pop, and heavy yuri undertones. And they deliver just that, in spades. And Shimoseka has a cute pervert terrorist voice acting fly porn, which is certainly something you don't see every day - and pretty much as weird and funny as it sounds.
I also watched Gangsta and Gate, and both shows started out interesting enough for me to continue. I'll probably also continue Gatchaman Crowds S2. The first episode was pretty strange and weird, but certainly intriguing. And I know what to expect from Monster Musume and Prison School, so unless the adaptions are completely fucked, I'll watch those two as well.

Ok, this one is pretty slow burning, but the art and ambiance behind it is really good. It's a typical H.S. romance series, but it's done in a pretty good way so far. The characters all have something to offer to the story and it really has been drama free. Well, it looks like drama might start kicking in soon, but for now it is a super "comfy" and cute romance.

Split cour is a great idea. We saw what happened to Chaika going two separate seasons. It lost focus. Please get it right Bones, I have high hopes for this one!
They all kind of look the same but Aoi stands out with that goddess ponytail.

Agreed so much, Akagami is down right beautiful and Shirayuki is gorgeous. I'd love to see more of the fantasy involved too, that'll be a lot of fun.

This is pretty good. The way the eyes are drawn are a little weird from what I'm used to seeing, but aside from that, it's nice. I like the colors used, everyone having hair colors that are a little different from the norm are nice! I really like how Asahi can't keep a secret at all and is so easily readable, it's a unique comedy twist that I'm sure will be the source of many laughs. Shiragami is the beautiful

This is what happens when you stop brainwashing your poor kids with some proper right wing propaganda. Bereft of the enlightenment that comes from watching Fox News, they grow brain damaged and join ISIS at the first opportunity to blow up their own families.
I'm kinda starting to get Grave of Fireflies vibe here. Judging from what I've heard abut this series, there is a whole buttload of karma coming this kid's way and it won't be pretty. Too bad he won't be the only one affected.

See Toei, you can give your magical girl shows a proper budget, and they'll be improved by it. Though I suppose Sailor Moon Crystal never had a shot. Op changes again. I do enjoy some good zetsubou. Now let's see what Towa has beyond that. I do like her in her Twilight outfit. Good violin playing. Dyspear fights like Desperiah, but actually good. The fight was pretty good too. More violin and onii-chan despair blah blah. Though Towa saying she'll live with her sins gives me some hope for her character. Why do fire Cures always get the best transformations? Sunny, Ace, now Scarlet. Maybe not Rouge though. Not too fond of her design, but the music was great, and the violin weapon was so ridiculous (this isn't Suite people) that it became great. Her phoenix was cooler than Smile's powered by 5 Cures. For shame Smile. Next episode we begin building up Towa's character, and if she's good this show can still make a comeback.

I like the verbal tics. I guess Ive grown up listening to them over the years so itsj just another common trope now.
I particularly like desudesu in Etotama and Kurumi in Angel Tales with her "Na no~"
Its actually something I personally look for!
I can tolerate some moe things, and a random noise here and there isn't the end of the world, but when they use it at the end of every sentence where even I can notice that the sentence structure is horrible because of it even though I don't know must japanese it's an issue.
Also a girl is only allowed to trip over air once every two episodes, at any rate higher than that she needs to trip into some fire and exit from a series.
similar for making a dumb mistake than sticking out the tongue and punching herself in the side of the head, if this happens more than once every 3 episodes she needs to put that fist right through her head and end her run on a series >.>
to be fair there are a number of adoarble little scamps I don't mind such as the girl in Barakamon but she avoided most of the moe cliches that drive me nuts lol.
note: one of the best series with many moe characters, Higurashi as they die horribly mwa ha ha ha ha
I'm still not sure what I find worse, pointless forced moe, or pointless forced ecchi though.
I can tolerate a lot, especially if I know its pandering anyway. Usually it panders to me so Im fine lol. Regarding clumsy girls, that does get annoying sometimes and it was kind of cheeky and messed up to see what Elfen Lied did with such a character.
I wouldnt call those cowtits but I agree that they shouldnt make every character have big boobs because frankly thats annoying as hell.

Ooh, you're watching this show. This is one of the best Gundam shows out there. Mostly because it conveys the message other Gundam shows take 50 episodes to tell in 6 episodes instead.

I can't believe I'm actually legitimately HYPED, to see an all-powerful main character get a cute girl out of a bad situation by beating a bad guy.
Like, this is Gundam Build Fighters season 1 levels of hype I'm feeling right now.

Non Non Biyori Repeat 1
Throughout the episode I was just smiling, I couldn't even last the first 5 seconds. It was just that good. I'm so glad Non Non Biyori is back because it's one of those few really comfy and relaxing anime. This series is basically a cleanser to help purify yourself like Save said. It's too good for us. I loved every second of Renge's screentime. Just seeing her get ready for her first year of School was great, it really made me nostalgic about the first time I went to school. This series is basically one of my contender for AOTS. I can't wait to see more of this series and I hope we also get more of Candy Lady and Renge's interactions.
Also I'm curious if this season is really a repeat I mean we did get a flashback of some sort.

Keep on watching the show. You're halfway now. You will realize why lots of people who watch Gundam show like this show.
For me, I am now more than halfway of Emma: A Victorian Romance. Man....i am surprise how much I like simple romance show that don't go crazy. Liking it so far and will continue watching it.

As if being voiced by Takehito Koyasu wasn't enough to solidify him as the best character in this show.
So here I was getting all fired up to see Soma kick some ass when Dojima's all: "HEY! Let her pull a rabbit out of her hat for once!"
This episode really put a smile on my face especially after seeing Megumi fail in episode 10 after using Soma's technique of being creative to get out of a bad situation. These two episodes were great for her character to come back from that.
Not only that, Shinomiya got some good character development in this too! Like, I was expecting him to remain as your typical one-dimensional villain that was only there just for the protagonists to beat, but no! He actually had a decent backstory that explained his motivations!
Guys, I'm at a loss for words here. I mean, I did not expect a shounen cooking show of all things to be one of the shows I've gotten the most enjoyment out of this year.
This show is freaking fantastic.

Wow. AOTS right here, most likely AOTY, no doubts about it.
You see, it's a pretty cold day here, but as I imagined, just a couple of seconds into this, and it all goes away. That warm and fuzzy feeling that made me look forward to mondays every week is definitely back, the magic is not gone, this is everything we wanted and expected.
It's interesting to me that the feelings that watching and hearing those characters evoke is quite similar to nostalgia, is pretty much the same thing I feel when I listen to a song from Hey Arnold, or something else I loved from my childhood, even though it's been what, less than 2 years since the original? This is quite an accomplishment, imo. The only other thing that can make me feel "nostalgic" even though it's recent is listening to a Persona 4 song, and compared to Non Non Biyori, Persona 4 is ancient. And I should add, Persona 4 is my favorite game ever.
Every time I come back to something I'm really attached to, be it a sequel or just experiencing it again, I worry that who I was at the time played a larger role in me liking it than I could recall, I worry that, being in a different time of my life, and even a different mood could end up ruining my idealized image of said thing, but Non Non Biyori can definitely put you in the mood you need to be, no need for any external help. I just watched True Detective before Non Non Biyori, and even Velcoro's extreme depression couldn't influence that, just listening to Ren-chon for a couple of seconds is enough to put a smile on my face for the rest of the episode.
Another thing I was worried about was that making the first episode a prequel, they couldn't possibly just time skip in episode 2 without it feeling completely out of place, but nah, that's out of the window, episode 1 felt like a perfect treat for fans, and I could definitely see them just moving on to post season 1 in the next episode. But who knows, whatever they do, I have complete faith in them.

Let's hope it's a flashback, I'd really like to see the girls as already friends with great relationships, though if it is a true repeat, the way the first episode was presented, I will totally love it too.
I believe you're right about Nii-chan never showing expression before, closest was when his catgirl clay creation was destroyed, but they used the blue and black cloud to signify emotion/expression, so it was a very touching moment.
Great write up, I can't imagine what it's like for all you people who watched Non Non Biyori when it aired and had to wait this long to see the sequel come to fruition, nostalgia is probably the best word for it. Super happy to see the girls back.
