The list I created before was before I realized the character roster screen was colour coded.

Until you posted this I didn't realise the background actually has coloured squares on it. I coincidentally just got to that part in the video just as I was typing this response so it's the first time I've had a good HD look at it

Wait... I just realised. They say they have a CORE roster of 16 playable roster. What does that actually mean? For example, if you had hidden characters would they be considered 'core'? We've all taken it to mean non-dlc but if this had been a pre-dlc game people would probably immediately think that mean 'unlocked'.

Yes, but there's a fundamental difference between unlockable on the disc/day-1 dlc and unlockable as future dlc. The first type are immediately available to unlock on release day

Ok, the green section are 8 characters that are returning from SFIV right? That leave 3 spot for whoever can make the original roster (with Akuma being hidden perhaps?). I think Juri will be the new character from IV returning, but I'm trying to think of who else they will pick hmm. Akuma might be one of them if he's not hidden, along with Dhalsim if they want a zoning character archetype.

Purple section are existing characters which weren't in IV, so it could be 2 spot for Alex and Urien? Although it might be Alex and Karin since they need more female characters in the roster. R. Mika and Urien could be DLC coming later. With Ken Bogard being pretty much spot on with his prediction, I'm guessing 2 of the new characters are female.

The initial roster is probably going to be based around the plot since it's supposedly more coherent this time around. I don't know if there's any other concise way to figure out where they're going with the roster currently.

If people are spltting this up as:

left = SF4
right top row = new
right bottom row = returning non-SF4 characters

That kind of blows a few ideas out of the water. For a start this would mean Urien, Alex and Karin could not all be returning in this first 16 since the bottom right row only has 2 slots. And the most mentioned SF4 returnees of Juri, Dhalsim, Gief, Guile also don't fit because there's only 3 slots. So something doesn't add up - either the expected characters are wrong (or some are in first batch of DLC say) or the way those 16 slots are carved up means nothing other than the 4 new characters obviously.

I also don't see Abel returning at all, not even DLC.

With the siliconera leaks and juri I'd have 3 characters i'd play.
With the ones in yours replaced with who you mentiond I'd have 2 characters I'd play.
With your roster unchanged I'd only really play Juri... -.-

I'd like to play Cammy but the direction they've been taking her as the series progresses really doesn't agree with me because I'm not a rush-down player and don't really want to be :/

Then again, we don't know much of anything about the newcomers yet, so maybe there's hope :3

I thought we were looking at a braver, risk taking Capcom until we got Ken again. They won't be able to stop themselves from adding Akuma even if he plays somewhat differently.

Capcom is known for a lot of things (bad spelling, risk aversion and corporate wankery at all levels), but smarts hasn't been one of those for a long time now.

Yeah including the 2nd and 3rd most popular street fighter characters is certainly not smart.

To be fair - they finally reworked Ken to be clearly different from Ryu for the first time ever, both visually and from a playstyle standpoint.

I think it could actually be two different characters, the brazilian character teased by Ono, and the one teased in Ken trailer.

Which could imply red aura character is Maori kun teased in Ken trailer... or last crazy possiblity, Maori kun is in fact Akuma, with a weird ass redesign.

Akuma would be more deep purple than red.

Still though - this is a game where every character has a special abilities activation that throws off a huge lightshow - I don't know why seeing red energy surrounding a character automatically means Akuma/Gouki

Hey, it's not too late to start a Twitter campaign. If all else fails, Bison Dollars could just be a fan nickname.

I'm still in favor of Ken Bogard/Siliconera, so my prediction is still just that being correct.

Personally, however, I'd rather have Q & Dudley instead of Alex & Urien, and Haggar & Eagle instead of Karin & Mika. But hey, at least Dudley has a good shot at DLC!
