Fighting Games Weekly | July 20-26 | No Gods or Kings, Only Tears

They're in the final stages of approval for a New Orleans D&Bs. They still have to build the 6 story building but if Tekken will be 2 years from hitting consoles I might be able to get some games in at an arcade for the first time in over a decade.

The amount of salt over KBR or his team is funny as fuck.

Too bad the img rKappa took of all the u.s marvel player salt got removed wanted to share it.

Justin Wong, RayRay, GCYoshi, and Ricki acted like a real fuck heads got called out on it too.

RayRay has no right to say anything to be honest he played like dumb fuck got mopped and could not hold that L.

Took my nephews and nieces to round 1 twice last week the fighting games were dead, but then again it was EVO week.

i haven't really touch tekken since 5.1, but kinda want to learn 7 since well we are lucky enough to have it lol.

I've said it before in my impressions but it's definitely a game no fighting game fan should be missing out on. TTT2 was complicated. A lot of people skipped that. Fine. This game is doing a lot to fix that.

I wrote up on it before but I really liked playing T7. My matches weren't blowouts and I made the japanese player work for his win (took a game off his shaheen, didn't know what to expect but that guy has some really fast moves and it seemed that move that look like a punch into high kick was a typical good starter for him.)

My losers match went last round last game. I beat the guys Kazuya and he switched to King. I haven't played TTT2 in a while some my throw techs weren't on point, so I couldn't seal the last round.

Casuals was really fun. I trird Claudio for 3 games and was learning as I go along. He has some pretty fast and safe moves, my opponent also didn't know much about Claudio and trying to ewgf some blocked moves but I was usually safe with proper distancing. I still don't kniw what moves benefit from his glowingarm but I know I could get it glowinf with moves like ff+2 and some mid double mid punch which I forgot what it was but might be f 1+2 then you press it again for a second. He also has fast pokes like f+3. I was trying to win but at the same time experimenting with moves, since it was winner stays on. I got kicked off losing last round last game trying to be cute with a rage art read and getting hellsweeped lol.

Game is defintely better to play than watch. I felt that everyone thar stuck around for casuals were into the series and were interested in learning more about it, while you can sort of see who was there fir the shirt lol.

Glad to know you're enjoying it. I think mostly everyone that's played the game has enjoyed.

And you're right. It's definitely more fun to play than watch.

The Tekken 7 at D&B in NYC is doable for me. Does anyone have a primer for Tekken 7.

If you're brand new to Tekken, then I would suggest maybe picking up Tekken 6 or Tekken Tag 2 for cheap and practicing with one the returning characters that's already in Tekken 7.

But the best option (in my opinion) is to pick either Katarina or Claudio so you can try one of the new characters. Both of them are very fun to play with and very easy to pick up. With Claudio especially, you can just do very simple bnb combos easily.

For example, with Claudio you can do u/b+4, f+3, and then running 2. Only three moves you need to learn to chain a combo together and still get good enough damage out. THe first two moves would just look like this and the third would just be his running right punch.

I wish Round One was closer. I'd love to play Tekken 7 as an intro to the series on an actual cabinet.

But 3 hours is more than I'm willing to drive. Same for Super Arcade when it eventually opens in Asuza.

But why Otaku. I get that he is trying to be clever with the name, but there are so many other options that aren't as disparaging to the anime crowd.
I really don't think anyone who wants to go to an All Anime Fighters event is going to be particularly hurt by the term "otaku."

They can't block it , but they can bury the user as soon as they see the tag on a stream

true.

was thinking of just leaving an open sf5 setup at our weeklies on friday with a stream but everyone and their mama is probably gonna be streaming it so I'm unsure now

I have TTT2 for the PS3 and Wii U. I play Leo/Jaycee. I am mediocre at the game but I am interested in Tekken, Rip and Aris really fostered my interest. I'm gonna try solo Leo in TTT2.

i might be wrong but i've noticed suprisingly little discussion on tier lists for usfiv. the game is really well balanced imo so maybe there is less reason for debate?

i know e. ryu is sposed to be amazing but im not sure he compares to previous tip top tiers in the series.

Yeah it's obviously pretty well balanced but EVO made it pretty clear that a character like Elena is giving a lot of characters problems. A lot of players were knocked out by Elena counter picks early in the bracket. Once players perfect their play, characters which can't deal with Elena will be non viable for high level and players who play those characters would be forced to counter pick to stay relevant.

I'm weak. I just bought a new stick so I have one to play the SF5 beta with.

Maybe I'll give Xrd a try now. Hmmm.

Ultra seems to have a wider viability list for tournaments but at the same time people also acknowledged the huge group of that's not (perceived?) as tournament viable.

So a big group of "you can play these guys (and better if you play several of them)" and a big group of "lol no"

Unrelated: I think people here may watch Ace of Diamond? I'm planning on starting a thread in Off Topic for this summer's Koshien (Japanese National High School Baseball Tournament) so hopefully maybe will get some crossover Ace of the Diamond fans posting & enjoying the games. Koshien brings serious hype.

Hell yes I watch it. There was an Ace of Diamond Season 1 thread before but no one uses it.

I'm kinda shocked it's only at one of the Round One establishment because in So Cal there's at least 4 Round Ones.

Cool, there are two pitchers in the mix (unless an upset happens in qualifiers) that are basically Furuya and Narumiya incarnate in their skills.

How close is Tekken Revolution to T7 considering the lack of bound combos? I hear Revolution is fucked up now thanks to the stats though.

I didn't even know that video existed. Nice find.
And yeah, you can definitely try solo Leo in TTT2. Just learn her 20 essential moves and you will be good to go and at the least won't go into Tekken 7 blind.

Tekken Revolution has practice mode so I would say it's good enough if you want to learn basic systems and get a feel for whichever character you like.

Tekken 7 spacing options are also more closer to Tekken Revolution apparently.

I am sorry if this has been discussed yet, but are PS3 sticks going to work with the SFV beta?

No. In our interview we asked about PS3 stick support at release and that is still up in the air but is being looked into.

Our talk with Peter and Matt is up http://shoryuken.com/2015/07/22/com...-game-we-want-them-to-fight-the-other-person/

I could've done better orz still some interesting things.
I like the title. It certainly supports Dahbombs statement.

We’re not trying to have it be about the systems, it’s about the characters and the players.
However I don't think this parts is really honest. Being good at a game means being good at using and exploiting its systems, you can't get rid of that. The best possible option is that there aren't too many systems or that they are understandable and apparent so that players can learn how to use them and work with them.

I honestly don't trust Capcom to get the controller stuff right. But I think the plan locally is to ban PS3 sticks anyway so it won't affect us.

Surely they can just use the same driver? Skullgirls devs seemed more than happy... and I don't really want to fork out again. :/

Don't care about the beta, I'm going to use this next year to become competent with a stick.

Evo is gonna be insane next year. If Capcom/Sony are doing all this shit for 4 then what they have planned for the new hotness should be 10x as crazy.

I just hope the game doesn't suck.
