Halo MCC Season 2 Finals Plagued with Issues - Numerous Disconnects Mid-Match

So this twitch stream of the finals has been playing the same shitty music and heavily edited 'pwnage' clips for the last two hours because of the Live requirement for LAN...

How in god's fuck is this still a thing that has not been quashed with a quickness for their flagship title? It boggles, man. It totally boggles.

Sorry, I am tired. "Malevolent behavior" is what it should have said lol. I pooped out the complete opposite of what I intended.

Even the word malevolent is just a tad dramatic lol. You're likening people being angry about issues with a game, and berating the game or developers over those issues, to being evil, or having malicious intent.

With SMITE, League and DOTA all rolling tournaments this weekend, Halo looks terrible with how badly it is disconnecting. It's a bit of a shame.

You literally cannot make a sane argument for its existence... An XBLIVE requirement for LAN is the stupidest shit of ever heard of in my entire time gaming. The MCC problems, I get that, it's insanely ambitious... But anyone green-lighting an online requirement for LAN requirement was not thinking correctly at all.

I don't care how long it would've taken to resolve the problem or find a different way to go about it (their other connectivity ideas were clearly a miss as well h, clearly what they thought was good enough was never a good idea.

I'd say, I hope they fix this, but I think it's clear they are going ride out the rest of this series, count the days until Halo 5 and then try their best to avoid mentioning this game collection at all costs... It's really a shame.

What do the rules say happens when you have a DC?
They start with the same time remaining and score prior to disconnect. Pretty shitty still though if your team has momentum and/or is set up prior to disconnect. Not to mention the match flow and what it does to viewers. Really hope this won't be an issue with h5 and season 3.

Yikes!

They better hope to the holy heavens that Halo 5 doesn't have these issues cause if they do then got damn, the backlash will unimaginable. I put up with that shit with MCC...I won't do the same for 5.

No better proof of this than that last match. CLG couldn't get the same momentum from the previous run and got eclipsed by EG.

It is ridiculous. Microsoft needs to get rid of the Live requirement, and 343 need to stop acting like Adam Jensen and fucking ask for this.

Holy shit, will Halo 5 be the same way?

Thanks man. I occurs to me that the guy that posted this only mentions the creation of offline profiles. What we want is LAN play without connecting to XBL. Hopefully the message is clear.

Really weird that they require online checks for offline LAN play... And it is so bad that it causes numerous disconnects in the finals of the biggest Halo tournament of the year... Is it to force you to have XBL Gold?

It's not an agenda, some mass hallucination, or belief. It's fact. Have you not even read the OP where a competitive event was plagued with connection issues? You're the one that comes off with an agenda to me.

Hah. Gotta love how the language changes when ppl talk about MCC. I've been watching as well and I've seen 1 DC in two days of gameplay.

Sigh. People acting like this thread was created to push some agenda really need to lay off. The source of these issues was genuinely disappointing for some, even if you personally didn't see the disconnects. Please stop with this. Someone was already banned in this thread for that kind of crap.

Does PS4 support Lan gameplay?

Yes, it does. Direct system linking is supported for LAN purposes.

This should be really easy to fix.

Incredible (in a very bad way) that there is an xbl requirement for lan play.

I dont know if 343 should feel silly or incredibly angry after seeing what Rod Ferguson has done with Gears. Feeling silly after seeing how easily the Gears team was able to get past the xbl requirement for lan. Or feeling incredibly angry with Microsoft for imposing that requirement on 343 in the first place.

Can you explain in greater detail how the Gears team "got passed" the XBL requirement, this is the first I'm hearing of it.

Not excusing 343 from all the issues they've caused with mcc, but the issue seems to be more with microsoft mandating a live connection

I believe in an interview they mentioned that they asked MS for it multiple times because LAN play is extremely important to the community.

Or maybe that was said across a couple of interviews. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

And LAN wasn't a huge part of the Halo community?

They'll never add it since Halo fans would lose their shit even though it would fix so many issues that Halo has had since 2004.

The issue with drop-in drop-out matchmaking was that it fucked with some of the core systems in play:

1 - Games would start with uneven teams far more often than other games under the assumption that a player would join mid-game, and then there was a decent chance that never happened.

2 - It was possible to be placed in a game that was hopelessly lost, even after patches that were supposed to mitigate this.

3 - It was possible to be outnumbered and never receive another player on your team because you were losing so bad, leaving you in a situation where you have no choice but to lose or quit.

4 - It was incredibly easy to game objective gametypes in to Join-In-Progress murdermills where you could get well over 100 kills over the course of the match (shoutout to Lightning CTF)

This happened often enough to leave the community disgruntled.

And LAN wasn't a huge part of the Halo community?

You're asking the wrong question. What you should be asking is whether or not Microsoft/343i cared that it was a huge part of the Halo community.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is something MS has changed recently.
