I'm laughing at how many people are failing at assaulting my FOB. I've never gotten a notification to defend it but it doesn't matter because it seems my security settings get the job done. The last intruder lasted 48 seconds lmao
My nuke is almost done though, and my revenge shall be at hand!

Ok, so even if you don´t do anything online after you have to set up a FOB you can get invaded and they can take your resource containers?

Yes. So basically try to make your F.O.B. unappealing (nothing on it) to possibly be ignored or pray.

Also, the style of gameplay I've employed (100% stealth) is getting very tiresome (even though I feel it's the most effective and truest to MGS). I have zero interest in playing this with a lethal and loud play style, so the majority of the upgrades available in R&D are of no interest to me, which gives me considerably less options in gameplay.

Given the selection presented to me, the game clearly expects me to experiment with the more lethal arsenal that's available. But as someone who went in purely for the stealth, I'm beginning to feel like I'm running out of reasons to care anymore.

To me, TPP feels a bit shallow as a stealth experience. If you're a bit more open to less than subtle tactics, then I can see why you'd adore this game. It's a truly diverse sandbox in that respect. But as a fan of the stealth gameplay present in throughout the series, this game just isn't cutting it for me :(
Side ops are perfect for using lethal weapons because the game doesn't keep track of your ranking when you do them. You can play around with weapons in those and do main missions with stealth so that you can vary it up a bit.

Perhaps you're paying more for your security than you should? It's easy to bankrupt yourself to protect your FOB. It's hard to find the perfect balance of troops, defence items and strengthened areas to stop intruders.

Quick question post mission 12.

I got Huey, can I visit him in game? I know he's on the command platform but where?

He's on the R&D platform, not the Command Platform. You need to wait for a cutscene to pop before you can go and visit him though. When he's there look to the left of the heli pad and you'll see a sign pointing to the lower outside level, that's where he is. Can't miss it, the guy on the sign even looks like him.

How do I customize the chopper? I saw my friend doing it last night on his game but can't find it anywhere myself!

Just played with Quiet as my buddy for the first time. I kind of like DD better since Quiet can miss marking some enemies, but I did not know that she would automatically snipe someone if they spot you and they're in her field of view. That was really cool

I haven't had issues with the horse jumping off cliffs. The only time you'll jump if you aren't holding the direction is if you're sprinting. Which a simple back "WOAH!!!!!" will fix.

ACC. iDroid. Left tab.

Yeah, that's the stupid thing. You'd figure it would be a command to point at a base L2 (or L1) "Codec" her with "scout this base" or "cover me in this base" and her setting up at a good vantage point.

But noooooo, you have to micromanage with the iDroid.

The other annoying thing is you can't tell which angle she's going to cover from from the sniper spots that are shown on the iDroid. If I could figure out where she's going to aim, it'd be muuuch easier to command her around the maps to set up for the best cover fire and then sneak around.

Just a tip because I feel people arent aware of this, but you if you open the idroid to the map screen and use dpad up and down there are a bunch of cool shortcuts like erase all markers, ammo supply drop, helicopter and most notably, commands for quiet! makes it much easier than going into that half buried buddy menu.

Is there a way to keep weapons you find on the battlefield? I found a sweet rocket launcher on a truck but back on MotherBase seems it's not available.

Dammit.

She's pretty neat but my one big complaint is that sometimes she seems to just get lazy and stay in a location a LONG ASS distance away from where I am. She stops spotting people, stop sniping, she's not doing shit. She's nowhere near me.

Seems like that just happens in the odd area where they didnt give her enough perches. Most of the time she stays vaguely local but it happens frequently.

This happened to me once early on. I tried to stop and turn but the horse was too slow and just dove right off and I died. Had to start the whole mission over. Now I'm just really careful.

So no one knows about this?

I think I know which scene youre talking about. I havent unlocked it myself but I stumbled across it on youtube while looking for other gameplay. Apparently you have to be really smelly and nasty, dont take a shower for a long time.
Lets just say after seeing the scene that I feel awkward and a bit ashamed of my feelings toward pixels.

yeah but how do you even make it like that? Don´t they put containers on them automatically?

Also maybe some players on PC want to form some ally pfs to defend eachother?

Godammit. I'd just stolen 20 of some poor saps containers without being detected and I get booted. I cursed Konamia servers, but it turns out it was my internet that died.

I had a really disappointing moment. I was finishing off a side-op, about to tranq a guard in first person. The shot was clear, aim at the head and at a close range but the rounds seem to have hit an invisible wall or an overly large hit box on the wall I was near. I take 1 shot and see that the round didn't hit so I take a tiny side step and the next shot doesn't hit. I'm not able to hit him until soldier himself takes a step to the side.

I recorded it and made a clip:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2QCmwaf974&feature=youtu.be

What the hell?

It baffles me that some of my friends have already finished the main story and decided to move on. One of them said they skipped most side ops and some of their development teams weren't even above lvl 20 by the end. Missing so much content if you play like that

I'm about 30 hours in and I have no desire to keep playing. It's crazy to me, because I was super hyped for this, but the lack of story is really getting to me. What I've witnessed so far is interesting, don't get me wrong. But such moments are few and far between and I don't feel like spending another 30 hours to complete it.

Regarding the gameplay, I definitely prefer the tightly constructed level design from past games. The open world here feels awfully lifeless and monotonous. When I got to Africa, I was hoping for a huge explosion of variety, but I don't feel that was the case. In fact, Africa feels even less interesting than Afghanistan (based on what I've seen).

Exactly the same feelings. I've put 33 hours into the game. I'm on mission 35 right now, and I have no desire to play this anymore. The story has been awful for me so far, and I doubt it's going to get better. Being a huge fan of the series, I'm massively disappointed.

Mission 12 was really awesome. I basically ghosted the entire thing. Complete stealth is pretty awesome when you have d-dog marking enemies, means you can move a lot faster instead of pulling out the binoculars all the time. I've started avoiding enemies more and more. Killing or knocking them out is just a hassle as you need to hide their body, and I don't want to fulton anyone who isn't highly skilled.

Just a bit annoying that at the end of the mission (minor gameplay spoiler),
the chopper automatically comes in to land right outside the base, causing a gunfight
. That kept me from finishing with a 0 alert, 0 kill run. In general I like the missions that are completely unscripted and where the story doesn't intrude.

Edit: I also uploaded a clip of how I
took out Quiet
in Mission 11 :lol

It shouldn't put containers on your F.O.B. even if you're connected online. It'll "mine" every 15-30 mins but it's so small that it isn't worthwhile.

If your F.O.B. is unstaffed/0 people on it, it shouldn't be able to be invaded or so. IDK.

Level 1 or 2. I haven't really developed any explosives

You defo want to upgrade your stuff. You can float around for a bit but if you see higher level stuff of things you use (and prefer one launcher) defo. upgrade them.

Well most of my R&D is in

so I can't develop anything new until I fix that

Yeah. I am basically doing everything. I love the side ops stuff.

question about enemy soldiers wearing battle armor: does their thigh part covered as well? The thigh seemed normal clothing so I shot there to tranq them but they never fell asleep. Is there any part of the battle armor where I can tranq them?

Well completed the mission now...but got fucked by the horse again when it wouldn't let me dismount while I was being spotted. Mashed "E", nothing happened. Horse jumped into the river and while I was busy finding a spot where I can get up again two vehicles escaped. FUCK THAT HORSE

I'm not that far yet, but if you do side-ops that should clear it if your medical team is up to snuff.

IDK. Someone higher should be able to tell you, but the rule of thumb for everyone is "find some guns you like, upgrade them as much as you can for more ammo/higher damage."

where is malak? i interrogated a bunch of dudes and they never told me where he is.. I extracted two other prisoners but apparently those aren't him

This is a big game, some people don't have the time or drive to do everything

I typically focus only on the main story in these situations because otherwise I burn myself out doing side stuff.

Shit, I think I'm playing this game too slow or doing to many side missions. I'm still on mission 10 with about 20 hours. Having great time though but may speed things and not try to be perfectionist.
