Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

Sell it and get lower firmware. Yifan Lu said there wont be anything on 3.52+ FW, so just save yourself from hassle.

But if I got another I wouldn't be able to access my PSN ID and digital titles without latest firmware, would I?

I think yes, it would ask from you to update to the latest FW in that case. So you can either have Vita for emulation/homebrew purposes or for accessing the PSN.

So, totally not worth it then.

Got around £200 of digital titles.

I still have my Vita on 3.18 and, as such, I have a few questions I'm unsure about:
- Is there a way I can refresh the expiration dates on my PS+ games without redownloading them via PS3+QCMA?
- Can I use the same memory card on both my 3.18 Vita and an updated FW PSTV? (Obviously, both devices would have the same PSN account associated with it).
- Would sharing the MC cause any issues / force an update on my 3.18 Vita?

- Yes you can use the same memory card. The exploit won't work on your VitaTV though, since it'll be a higher firmware.

-However, you have to use the EML trick to switch between the VitaTV and our exploited Vita, otherwise you have to format your entire memory card.

And as always, remember to backup before you switch around.

Personally, I would recommend against swapping cards, because it's simply not worth it - the VitaTV has such poor support of PSP and Vita games that over half of your library won't even be playable on VitaTV because Sony fucked it up.

No, there are no (publicly) known ways to bypass firmware requirements. A lot of people will simply have two vitas, one on the latest firmware.

I'm new to this homebrew. So it's on psvita native, now? Not through the PSP kernel?

Yes, there is native vita homebrew/emulators - though they have not yet surpassed psp emulators.

Random question: if I already have a 3.18 TN-V Vita, is there any advantage to also trying to put some form of PSP CFW on my PSTV, which came out of the box at 3.20? I ask because if not, I'll probably upgrade it to current firmware and use it as a convenient-ish way to capture/stream supported Vita/PSP games to Twitch.

How did you get that downloaded? Unless there's a physical copy...

so , i should stick with 3.51 ?
i want to try Super Time Force Ultra , but it require 3.52

and what with the "bad news" about this hack ? it doesn't work all the time ? something about 1 mb patch

I don't think Rejuvenate will work at 3.51 and beyond, and there will always be future psp exploits, so I would probably just update and play the game you bought.

The exploit for 3.51 is not a great one - it's usermode rather than kernel mode (I believe) which gives it less capabilities, and it has even less capabilities due to a restriction on file sizes (though it sounds like this restriction may have been patched)

I tried doing something with Rejuvinate, but the only option I could find was the Unity download and it said my firmware was too low for it. Is Rejuvinate going to be worth trying to upgrade fw for?

What is the easiest way right now for me to play Crisis Core and Birth by Sleep on the Vita? I have the UMDs sitting on my shelf for ages now, and everytime I look at it, an urge to replay them hits me. Hard. :(

I looked at some exploits to run PSP ISOs on the Vita, but most of them require a game that has already been delisted from the PS Store to boot (they probably have been delisted for this very reason).

3.30+ firmware is recommended in the newest Rejuvenate, as it unlocks additional CPU power.

If you've already upgraded your Vita past 3.36 (I believe), you currently have no options. If you haven't upgraded past that point, you might still be able to buy the exploit games in question and transfer them to your Vita via OpenCMA or QCMA. Most of the delisted exploit games returned to PSN after Sony released firmware that fixed the exploits, but as far as I am aware none of the games themselves got patched so they would still work as an exploit on older Vita firmwares.

I just found out about Rejuvenate and I'm luckily on 3.36. I'm currently trying to install it, but none of my games have the update icon at the top left of the page. Is there a list of what games have it and how to make it reappear?

EDIT: Got it to work with the PlayStation Mobile update in System Settings.

Alright, will look into it. Thanks mate!

It's a shame Sony killed PSMDev immediately. I have both the Unity and Standard SDK on my Vita but I updated to grab some of my PSM games before I could no longer download them.

It's almost one year I put TN-V on my 3.18 Vita, they said "keep 3.18" cause maybe good news will come

And after one year nothing happened, I wonder if I have to keep 3.18 and hope for something, interesting games are coming out in the next weeks (or already came out like Hot Line Miami which I bought or Furai no Shiren 5+) but I can't play them if I don't upgrade my Vita

upgrade or not upgrade, that is the question...

I moved on, updated my vita and bought a used Psp Go for homebrew.

I hated not beeing able to use any new download only game on my vita, which kinda destroyed its purpose.

Ever since downloading the PSM dev app I kinda stopped paying attention to this whole thing. What kind of stuff can you do with Rejuvenate?

There are multiple emulators (with varying degrees of completeness/compatibility/speed), up to and including the SNES.

just wondering , how i can put the modded save file on my vita ?

Via qcma or openCMA (or even official CMA if you're on the latest firmware)

Everytime I see this, I get a little hope that its a PS TV whitelist hack that allows all games to be playable on the PS TV :(

Yeah, I wish we got some more news about that, but secrecy seems to be the watchword for the Vita hacking community (except for Rejuvenate and the SDKs).

I don't know understand such obsession with Rejuvenate as that hack is limited to 444 mhz ( even worse for 3.20 and lower FWs-333mhz).

I mean, power of Vita is ranging 0.8-2Ghz, so I don't see great potential with Vita native hack when it comes to real emulation.

I know it says 'not piracy' in the title, but does this actually provide a way for people to be able to pirate games? Or is it a legitimate – very much closed off – home-brew.
