Twilight Princess HD officially announced.

Just found a amazing screenshot of the community remaster of TP.

To me, this looks exactly how I would imagine a TP HD and miles better than the actual TP HD.

I heard some people don't like the look of the community remaster, but keep in mind its not finished yet and the lighting effects are already VERY impressive. Plus, there are tons of modern effects, there will be gameplay enhancements and a remastered soundtrack, which is amazing.

Why does this remake has so much more effort than the actual TP HD? I don't get it. Its just a texture pack....

I hope Nintendo changes the lighting for its actual TP HD. Otherwise, I plan on getting a High End PC next year to play the community remaster (yes, I'm crazy)

I can't even tell that's the same game. Is something wrong with me?

Over saturated as fuck. And modern effects don't make games look automatically better. And the textures in TPHD still look better than that screenshot.

I don't think anyone is happy about the lack of lighting improvements.

While I agree TP HD doesn't look anywhere near justifying what they're asking for it, that fan mod looks a lot worse.

It looks a lot more different, yes, but it looks a lot worse.

Which music track was used during the trailer? I could have sworn I've heard that before in the soundtrack but I cant find it. Whenever I search for "Twilight Princess Trailer Music" I get something else.

It's the same music from the E3 2005 Trailer and the Menu Intro of the full game. I don't know if it has a special name on the soundtrack, though.

Well, in conan it's called riders of doom. Suspect the name didn't carry over to the zelda version though haha

Yeah, the problem with these fan mods is that they change the visuals too much. A good example of how to properly update a game is the incredible work being done by fellow GAFers on Resident Evil 4 PC.

I think you also need an eye for good photography.

Too many times modders focus on the technical aspects without thinking of more subjective, but as important considerations like art direction.

"Amazing?" Are you being sarcastic? It looks different, but I'd say far from good.

That's super saturated. Tried to make it look a bit better in Photoshop but idk why the colors are weird in the actual game.

The issue with fan mods for TP is that they totally ignore the art and the atmosphere that TP has. TP (HD) could use some better lighting, but the dark gritty art is an integral part of the package. It fits the story.

Making something technically better while ruining everything else makes these mods look like crap for anybody who enjoys the game for what it is. It's not supposed to become Zelda WW.

Hate to say it but I played this game multiple times on the Wii, I liked it, but I just cant play this game on inverse, I think it might ruin my memories of this game =/.

Hopefully I change my mind, it seemed more logical to make it the Wii version because it sold a lot more on the Wii.

I'm expecting remastered music in the vein of WW-->WWHD. The bundle comes with the soundtrack, so it would make sense if there were some new versions in there... Or they're not changing anything and it's the unchanged OG soundtrack we're getting. That could happen too.

Unless they change the way the reactive music works, they're not switching to a live instrument soundtrack.

Yep. At best they will make the songs uncompressed and improve some tracks like they did in WWHD (ex: Windfall Island).

It would be extra nice if during Midna's Lament the enemy music doesn't play to interrupt the song as well.

That looks awful. Hopefully the HD remaster will look somewhat like this HD texture pack, but with better lighting and shadows, and anything else that could be improved.

Maybe it's because Nintendo and Tantalus are trying to keep the remaster faithful to the original game, and not trying to make it look completely awful with no sense of art direction.

Why would they give the HD version an inferior control scheme?

Ah no not that one. I know that one wasnt from Zelda.

I meant from this trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKr6gBsxLYE&ab_channel=GameXplain

Especially the bit playing when Bill is showing the Wolf Link Amiibo.

Twilight Princess HD actually reminds of the approach Cris and Albert have with that project. Cris and Albert are taking it a step further with real world sources and some environmental geometry edits, but they're remaining true to the original visuals, which seems to be what Tantalus is doing with the new textures.

Best Buy charged my card even though the game isn't coming for 4 months. WTF is that crap? Does this guarantee that it won't be canceled because if they cancel it now I'm going to be pissed.

They hold the charge for several days, its just to make sure you have sufficient funds then the money comes back, but yeah, I much prefer Amazon for online orders, they don't charge until its being shipped out.

You are a beautiful human being <3

You're welcome ;), After hearing this music again with the Twilight Princess HD in the nintendo direct, i've wanted to get the full music without sound effect and I've found it this morning.

Damn I'm hyped to get this game in march 2016 just because of this.

Just so you know...

The music is on the game disc itself (both versions) - It always has been. You can either rip it yourself from the brstm file in the ISO or simply wait at the title screen until the movie plays.

Well that's good but silly. Just check it closer to release. And if there isn't enough just don't send it. Not that hard. But whatever. I'd rather they charge me in March.

I had the opportunity to get TP HD from BB but I didnt really want it. But now that it's sold out I want it :(

Yup. After some more Googling this is the Orchestra Piece #2. Symphony of the Goddesses made me remember just how incredible TP's soundtrack really was.

That title theme man. Ugh. CHILLS.

Nintendo wouldn't be foolish enough to only release this in a bundle with the amiibo, would they? At the very least, it'll go up on the eShop?

I hope Wolf Link will be sold separately and the digital version reflects the missing Amiibo so I don't get dicked over for wanting the digital version again.

You can find the original trailer on http://www.zelda.com/tp/ (heavy flash site) in the gallery (Trailer #3). Nevermind, have a youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw0KjTfPGrY
If you bother to complete that site's "fetch quest", you can download among others the two orchestrated trailer songs.

You've been giving a lot of credit to Tomoya, and correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't it mainly been Tino, the developer of Ishiiruka that has implemented most of the actual new effects into his branch of Dolphin? A big part of the look of Tomya's project also comes from Reshade settings as well. Not to mention Tomoya is actually working with a team of people now, and is credited as a "Texture Artist / Texture Art Director / Founder." Just saying, it's not like he's been doing this thing by himself, nor would his project even be possible without all the people behind Dolphin, Reshade, and Ishiiruka.

That's fair to say, but again, it doesn't change the fact that these enhancements are all hacks into an emulator by amateurs. They're extremely limited to basic, glitchy SSAO and the other effects are so new that some of them weren't even available for use in the Ishikura branch at the time Tomoya was working with them. Their mod shouldn't look as good as it does on a technical level considering what they have to work with.

My main point is that this is a pretty weak remaster in comparison to what obviously could be done. Nintendo could easily apply ambient occlusion that would look better than Dolphin's and not glitch out and require major user effort to calibrate. They could easily add in some lighting enhancements and real time shadowing that Dolphin would never be capable of. None of these things would compromise the original visuals, just enhance them with more depth and realism, but for whatever reason they're not touching any of that stuff.

It does look better than the original, but mainly just by virtue of being scaled up to HD. The textures that have been replaced all look nice, but none of them are a particularly great improvement- more of less just a sharper version of what was there, but still without meeting modern standards. They didn't even pay special attention to specific moments that really needed more. That footage of Hyrule castle burning is pitifully dated.

It's not exciting, to say the least. It's not going to change the game experience or draw people back in to play it in the same way the new visuals for OoT3D, MM3D, and WWHD did. It's mainly just a "well, this is better than playing it on your Wii" kind of remaster, which would be fine if it cost $20-30.

I get what you're saying, and I agree that I would have liked to see more done than what they've shown. Just saw some info about Tomoya and his project that seemed inaccurate and I didn't want people getting the wrong idea.

I actually think Tantalus' texture upgrades are quite nice, they retain the original look of the game more than any fan made texture pack that has come before.
