Keighley: Konami lawyers holding Kojima hostage; audience loudly boos. Inconceivable.

I think it's time for platform makers to stop distributing Konami products now. Someone needs to take a stand.

What Konami products? They literally do not release console games anymore. They are not in the business of selling console games.

This makes it official. The gaming industry is pretty much done with Konami. This is way too much to do. It's like you eternally punishing the man.

Good on Geoff for putting this shit out there. #FuckKonami

I mean existing ones.

I know this unreasonable but I'm pissed off. They need to be held accountable for their fuckery somehow.

What did Kojima do to get this type of treatment? Like is there any rumor?

Insubordination? Trying to take over the company from within? I mean like, there has to be another side to this...right?

MGSV cost Konami a lot of money and took a long time to make, and it was around the time where konami said fuck video games.

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
Disgusting of Konami. Wonder how long till we know the whole story that has unfolded about their situation.

We got your back Kojima-san #teamkojima

Probably never. I'd imagine that Konami has done something to block everyone from actually disclosing what went on. I think we would've known by now if anyone could speak openly, or even off the record, about it.

But like if that was truly the case...isn't this a little harsh? There has to be more to it than just that, especially considering how much bad PR they've taken for the last few months, building up to tonight.

I can't wait to see the fan reaction to the first Metal Gear without Kojima.

But I'm most excited to see what's next for Kojima.

The only thing close to a rumor is that Kojima's games were very expensive and Konami didn't like that. But it doesn't explain why they've essentially try to shut him out of the industry. He wasn't able to accept awards at the Playstation Awards (nor was any other KojiPro staffer) and he wasn't able to accept this award.

They don't want to give him a public speaking platform, especially on something that is being broadcast live.

Of course there's more to it, we will just most likely never know what it was.

Turning his staff in to skeleton crew janitors is worse than this, IMO. All of it is absolutely ridiculous, though.

I am utterly impressed by the balls of Geoff to call out Konami so damn hard at the Award Show. Major respect to him.

But he's going to be able to speak publicly eventually, so why block him? Like I mentioned above, they probably have some contract that prevents him from ever speaking about what went on publicly, so they don't have to worry about him randomly breaking out and mentioning those details.

The whole situation doesn't make sense. Just from Konami's perspective they have to see how bad this makes them look.

What I want to know is if konami is doing all this shit just out of spite and resentment for the games industry and kojima, or do they think he is some kind of threat to them that the has to be kept quiet as long as possible??
