Zero Time Dilemma (Zero Escape 3) featured in Famitsu

My platform for this game is going to be entirely decided on EU release date. I played 999 + VLR on DS/3DS cause I think the dual-screen setup is too good to pass up
and indeed it was necessary for 999
but if I'm forced to import a US copy to forsake the wait, it'll have to be on Vita. Plus I get a physical box, I guess.

Z rated? He was probably joking but holy shit - imagine an 18 (UK) rated ZE. 999 would probably be 15/PEGI 16.

I don't think Uchikoshi was joking with that.
And I think 999 would probably be rated for ages 18+. The game doesn't have particularly gruesome visuals, but how they are described sounds very visual, like when the group looks at what's left of No. 9 in the beginning of the game. It made me very sick in my stomach having to read the description of his...remains.

So yeah, if ZTD is anything like that (which it probably will be), then I'm pretty sure that the game will be rated 18+ all across Europe.

Yeah, some of 999's descriptions made me a bit sick and queasy too actually
In the US is there a higher rating than M (Mature) like Adult, or something similar?

So hyped for this. I still need to complete the second game, but I'm really liking the look of this one.

Well, them being divided into three groups of three is the basic setup, so not a spoiler.

I know but people in this thread are too good at connecting the dots ("I killed six people" to "Six people need to die for the group to win the game").

There is an 'AO' rating, 'Adults Only' but I believe majority of the bigger retailers deny selling AO games so publishers shy away from releasing AO games as that would be a huge detriment to sales. At least that's how it was years ago, maybe it's changing with greater importance of digital distribution but I still don't think there are many AO games around.

There is an AO-rating but that's reserved for games usually featuring more extreme cases of things like sexual content and in some cases the depiction of themes (Hatred has this rating despite no sexual content). Platform holders these days (or was it retailers?) have a policy of not allowing games with an AO rating on their platform so you that's why you usually don't see them.

Witch Doctor/Plague Doctor confirmed as the new Zero

edit: Gab is a cute little dog that looks something like this. He has a small case on his neck where the participants can insert messages.

Carlos may not be a Left clone. At least it makes no sense he has a sister if he is...

Also Tenmyouji had some dickish Betray moments in VLR.

VLR Spoilers

To be fair, do we actually know that
Brother is a man? At most I remember Dio saying he thinks he saw "him", but the world was destroyed by that point and Dio was pretty vague. I wonder if Brother is even alive then?

short summary of the game-systems (all have the goal of giving the player a feeling of tenseness)

Escape Rooms are back

A new system where “Fragments” of the story are shown; many of them are locked and will unlock over the course of the game [ I think this is this game’s version of the timeline]

Fully voiced “Event Scenes” during the “Cinema Parts", similar to dialogue scenes from western dramas were the camera angle isn't fixed [the image of Carlos in front of the black background from the OP is an example of one of those Cinema Parts]

edit: new name of the game they are playing is "Decision Game"

It also says flowchart so yes ;)
I wish someone could translate everything?

We will get answers for those open questions from VLR:

Why did Sigma loose both arms and an eye?
What's the connection between Sigma and Phi?
What happened in the test facility on New Years 2028?
Why did Radical 6 get releases?

give me the release dateeeeeeeeeeeeee

Still listed as tbd for Japan in the article

It's obvious that those questions were going to be answered but there are many many more.
That's the only thing I don't like about the scans lol.

So going off screenshots and info from VLR, I'm assuming the teams are:

1: Carlos, Akane, Junpei
2: Q, Eric, Mila
3: Diana, Phi, Sigma

Sounds interesting, though I admit the 2nd team doesn't interest me nearly as much as team 1 and 3.

So maybe you can only advance with one team and you would hit a lock and would be forced to use the other teams? That sounds fine with me

quick translation of the prologue:

December 31 2028 - the Nevada Desert. It’s been six days since cohabitation in the Dcom Facility started when the 9 characters wake up and find themselves locked up with a bangle on their left wrists. A person wearing a mask (Zero) shows himself and tells them that the “Decision Game” has begun. He calls it “A game that will determine if you, I and the rest of mankind will get to live or perish”

After that the characters are transported to an underground shelter were they will be housed and split up into three teams, labeled as C-Q-D.

Which team will survive in the end? The future of 8 billion people, all of mankind, will depend on their “Decisions”

edit: a bit more about the story/scenario

Six passwords are necessary in order to be able to return to the surface again. One password is given out after a person dies. Escape will be impossible if less then 6 people have died. It will be left up to the player to decide who will be sacrificed and if they will look for other ways (of escaping).

Q has lost his memory and doesn’t know who he is. He is wearing a strange, round helmet. Q may look suspicious, but he's naive and friendly.

interesting tidbit: the 刻 in the subtitle was chosen because of the theme of ‘time” but also because the characters are split up into teams this time.

I think that should be all the new information from the article/interview.

Saw the scans, and it looking good. They went as short as possible with Mila's short lol, and Phi has something similar too. Them legs.

Does Phi wear a fucking Mickey Mouse costume or what?
I really hoped that would be a skirt. Now she just looks a bit too ridiculous :(
Can anyone tell me what's up with Phi's eyebrows?
They weren't exactly white in Virtue's Last Reward but here they seem to match Diana's hair color and it's weirding me out just a tad.

Something's bothering me....

Having Zero stand with the cast is odd.
999/VLR spoilers
In these games its traditional/a pattern to cast suspicion that "Zero" is one of the main participants. This time we dont have that....

Instead we have the possibility that it's somebody we've seen before from a past game. Santa? Snake? Who knows!

The "Fragments" system looks cool, but on first glance it seems much less clear than VLR's flowchart. Looking forward to seeing it in action, though!

The 3D in this game really is a step up from VLR...

EDIT: Whoops, looking again, there's a "flow" option as well which I'm guessing is linked to a more traditional flowchart.

Looking at the scans, they confirm (not that we didn't know) that the woman in the announcement image is Diana.

Also Eric looks even CREEPIER now, if that's possible, while Mila is making me question my sexuality.
