Marvel's Daredevil S2 |OT| No More Half Measures - March 18th on Netflix

I didn't like the supernatural stuff in S1. Well, I liked Madame Gao, Nobu, and the more subtle mystical elements, but the Stick episode felt so incongruous

The tone of S1 episodes: Vigilante action, gang wars, mafia stuff, shootouts, mystical kid/ancient evil/supernatural ritual, more gang wars, shootouts, assassinations, etc.

It just felt really clunky IMO

The Hand and other supernatural aspects seem more natural and crucial to the story this season. Excited about that

I'm surprised how many folks disliked the Stick episode. I thought it was a nice change of pace and the supernatural elements were mysterious enough to be interesting. I haven't read any Daredevil so I don't know what the kid in the crate was, or who Stick was talking to at the end, or anything. So it was fun to get a little taste of that, and I'd be annoyed if this season didn't show us more of it.

I thought the Stick episode was the highlight of the season. Scott Glenn was perfect.

I tend to prefer the more realistic street level stuff than mystical stuff but I loved the Stick episode and thought S1 handled introducing the idea of the Hand and some mysticism pretty elegantly.

I'm excited to see how S2 handles it since there'll most likely be more of a mystical presence but I hope it doesn't overdo it and leave the street level stuff in the dust or unresolved. I have faith it won't though since I think it'll balance itself nicely between Elektra and Punisher.

dude you realise The Hand are demon worshiping sand ninjas in the comics, and the stuff you didnt like from that Stick episode is all going to come back because that was all Hand related :p

also, man are people in for a rude awakening with Iron Fist next year (or whenever that comes out)

Re: Demonic Stuff, the Stick Episode and Season 2:

They even showed more of these demonic kids already in the final trailer

I'm hoping Iron Fist can be done justice in a tv show/limited budget. My dream was always a big budget movie based on the Bru/Fraction run.

I know all about the Daredevil mythos, just felt the Stick episode felt incongruous. I liked the more subtle stuff like the hints of Gao's true nature. This season, it looks like those elements are better integrated into the story

ah I misunderstood.

You know, I don't get Matt.

It's all "I won't kill, I won't kill!"

Then he motherfucking offs Nobu by setting his ass on fire.

Also, where the fuck is the Season 1 Blu Ray of Daredevil!?

Daredevil S1 and Jessica Jones both had the problem of a dragging second half that culminated in a fairly underwhelming finale episode. All the best fights and villain scenes happened in the first 6 episodes or so of both. Not to say the latter halves didn't have good scenes rather they the episodes as a whole ended up being far too cluttered and poorly written (body count dramatically rising, characters making stupid decisions to add to drama, simple resolution to the conflict.

I'm hoping Season 2 of Daredevil can fix these problems. It definitely looks like the major threat from the Hand will be in the latter half of the season but they hopefully won't sideline the Punisher by focusing on them and Elektra. I also hope this season doesn't actually end with a fight scene and rather something reminscent of the end of Daredevil's first conflict with the Punisher.

Yeah, I also loved Stick episode. I don't think Daredevil did all that well as a city crime saga. That aspect was too dull, with neither the depth of modern crime dramas (which in recent decade made ridiculous jump) or the craziness of pulp.
In the end it's still a show about superhero, so the more it embraces it's wackiness the better. The only bad thing about Stick is that it was limited to one episode.

Season 1 was so good... wow, season 2 really snuck up on me. No idea it starts TOMORROW!!!

This is going to be a great weekend.

So, Entertainment Weekly's review of the new season is

Here's hoping I disagree.

Unless I'm missing something they only actually reviewed the first 6 episodes.

I'm going to try and take this season at more even pace rather than burn through it in one weekend I think. Looking forward to seeing Shane as Frank.

Eugh read so much like "This show based on a comic book is being too comic booky".

Also since when were reviews a sentence length description of each episode? They're entitled not to like it, but man it seems like something an intern crapped out on his lunch break.

So I guess I'm watching this over the weekend while playing Pokken (or SFV if it hasn't arrived)? Good thing it hit before my Netflix sub dies.

Also the Stick episode was atrocious

Sounds like yet again a Netflix show is suffering from both too long sigh.

Actually they seem to just shit on the writing, which wasn't really season 1's strong suit either.
And yeah, s1 was also pretty cliché and predictable, when it came to the plight of the hero examination, so it's no surprise to hear that this continues the trend.

Daredevil is mostly worth watching for the action and the dark mood, personally.

Not really a fair assessment when they've only seen half a season and don't know how things pay off, come into play later, or coalesce in the back half. They even say the later episodes like 5 and 6 is when things improve

yeah, you can't kill a show for pacing issues if you haven't seen it all BUT you have to review what's in front of you.

Regardless, I wouldn't mind if these marvel shows were tighten to 10 episode seasons just to keep the pacing up and keep them light on filler. Jessica Jones had a pretty big lull in the middle of its season and if Daredevil S2 has it too then i dunno if i want to keep up with these shows

I LOVED the Stick episode. The guy who played him was amazing and their fight at the end at Matt's place was awesome. Can't wait for tomorrow!

There are 10 reviews and season 1 "only" got a 75 on MC. It's also a bit odd that aggregate sites would start compiling reviews for the season when critics have only seen the first half.
Better than how aggregate sites compile reviews for seasons based on reviews of the pilot or first few episodes

I think I'll love this season, but I don't want Daredevil and Elektra fight side-by-side too much, it totally gave me Arrow vibes. Or at least, I hope Elektra's fight choreography is better than what we have seen.
