IP is from The Pokemon Company (Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures). Not directly Nintendo. Nintendo is a part owner of Niantic (along with others - such a Google). Nintendo are making money because they have different involvement in some many areas.

Apple are making 30% on all IAP sold on iOS. They could probably be making more direct money from this that Nintendo are.

The game is obviously helping the Nintendo brand regain traction in the long run though -- which could be more helpful than anything else.

Nintendo actually owns and good chunk if not most of the IP's on the pokemon themselves, of the 3 partners they have the biggest stake overall when you get into the nitty gritty of it.

Jesus christ why is this in every thread, Nintendo are the majority owners of Pokémon so unless you think niantic stole from Nintendo your logic is pretty dumb. Also Nintendo helped out and their stock has risen nearly 100% since the game released. Surely you can't be so clueless.

Then you turn it off and on again. The game freezes like that sometimes. Most of the time if it freezes during a capture sequence where the ball is struggling, the pokemon's caught anyhow.

That's only happened for me once out of about nine lock ups. Most of the time the caught Pokemon is gone. Lost a Scyther(?) and a Squirtle that way, both new, and the Squirtle with a "Great" throw and a lucky egg in effect.

I can't log on this morning either. Just as well, there's nothing anywhere near my house

Nintendo helped out as much as I helped out, and their stock rose because investors don't realize that they didn't make it either.

This isn't true once you pass like level 2 and start getting higher CP monsters.

The original point of the quote was to refute a mention of Iwata making it rain money. Iwata and the Pokemon Company got the idea for the initial April Fools Joke with Google for their Pokemon Challenge. Ever since Niantic's team went to Pokemon Company to establish an interest in the project, Iwata was involved in some capacity in development, likely supervision. Nintendo itself, besides their initial investments in the company, and thus given a share of the profits, is also involved with creating its accompanying accessory, the Pokemon Go Plus.

Which is all that's important, the guy stated in it reponse to Nintendo earning money from this nothing else. Nintendo clearly do earn money for it, so it was an irrelevant counterstatement.

Is there a difference between them? They are both found on the official stores now.
