Vice Principals - Danny McBride & Walton Goggins - HBO Comedy - [update: S2 trailer!]

Loved the first episode, the two main characters are insanely funny and when the new principal lays into McBride I was just dying. I can't believe McBride wrote, created, and is the main star of the show - damn.

I was debating cancelling my HBO sub for a while since Ballers was just kinda meh, but VP will have me keep it until it finishes, so mission accomplished I guess.

Co writer/co creator, cannot downplay Hill's role.

As for believe are you just not that familiar with Danny's work or just the case of this show? Because he has cowrote just about everything he has starred in.

Danny McBride is the best in these asshole kinda roles. His delivery is just on point! I loved the interactions between him and his ex-wife's now husband. The one with the school cook was amazing too. Hooked, though a little cautious as I also loved Eastbound and Down for around 3 seasons but then just got bored. Lets see where this goes.

Pleeease for the love of god no. I'm a huge Eastbound and Down fan and I fucking hate Stevie.

Thought the first episode had some great moments and some pretty big misses as well. Very stoked to see how the season plays out
I love Steve Little as Stevie, but he does not belong in this, he is a little too cartoonish for what seems a little more balanced and serious.

I really liked it. Goggings and McBride work amazing together, I love their interactions. Danny being the brute asshole and Walton being the slick and sleazy asshole is great to watch.

Can't believe what I'm reading here. I thought it was awful. Maybe one small laugh in the whole thing. It's like they took the worst aspect of EB&D (McBride being a dick to everyone) and made that the whole show. Really sad about this. None of the other characters seemed interesting. The gag of the two vice principals fighting got old real quick.

Super disappointed, and EB&D is one of my favorite shows.

Pretty good first episode, loved Walton's smooth-talking, ass-kissing character. Also liked Boardwalk Empire-Eli's 'wife-stealer' character, McBride kept being such an ass to him when Eli just came off as nice.

This was a solid 1st ep. Loved Goggins as usual.

Should I watch ballers? Not too big into sports culture but I love me some Dwayne Johnson. Also there are hot ladies in it apparently. It looks good.

Haha, I liked a season or two when getting to know Ari, but if it came out this year after the last amazing 8 years or so of high quality tv we have had, maybe wouldn't enjoy as much.

Ballers feels to me like a show that just can not compete in today's content quality

Watched the first one which I thought was pretty funny. Loved the part where he threw tacks at him. Looks like it will be a fun show. I have never seen Eastbound, but my brother loved it, so we're going to watch this. I'll try and go back for Eastbound when I have the time.

I think it’s going to take a while to see what they are going for here. It seems that Vice Principals is going to be a lot more grounded in reality than Eastbound and Down ever was. Also, you got to remember that Eastbound and Down got a lot more wild as the seasons progressed.

But from a “pilot vs. pilot” scenario, the Eastbound and Down pilot was a lot better. It sets the stage for what the show is going to be about while being incredibly entertaining and not too expository.

I am still onboard and want to see where this story goes but I will admit the pilot did disappoint me a bit.

I don't see how you can like Eastbound and not this. Same tone, humor, actor, etc.

As a huge Eastbound fan, I loved this.

But that's exactly why I didn't love it. Jokes aren't as funny the second time around, or in McBride's case, the 645th time around. McBride playing an angry, delusional, stupid and rude character? I feel like I may have seen that once or twice before...

My only thought during the first episode was that they really should've switched it up. Goggins always plays charming and McBride always plays rude. Why not switch the roles up? That could've been something for me.

My only knock so far is the lack of interesting supporting characters. Which could definitely change.

But I'm in with anything Jody Hill does for HBO and the show overall shows a ton of promise.

Does anyone know what time the episode will pop up on HBO Now?

They were filming this down the street from me in charleston. I think a couple friends were extras. Regardless, this looks hilarious. I'm so in.

Once I saw on Colbert that is where it was shot I had to watch! Good to see there are other Charleston Gaffers too. Where were they shooting?

The first episode was decent, but tonight's made me really interested to see where the show goes from here. I hope it stays unhinged.

Not for me. McBride plays that type of character like no other. I'll gladly watch him play it again. In fact, I'd pay good money.

Yeah, they added another layer to Goggins' character with this episode and it works great. I thought the first episode was fine, but this one really has me excited about the potential here.

Goggin's character is fantastic, first episode I was sure he was gay and then maybe thought he was straight but acting gay and now after his wife I have no idea. The entire burning house scene was insanely funny and crazy.

Was Mr. Sasso played by Rafi from The League? Looked very much like him but the voice was different.

Anyone else think the only thing stolen from the house was the broach, and Mr. Russell is setting up Mr. Gambie? A few more situations to implicate Gambie and no one would believe him if he says Russell set him up.

Just got around to watching both episodes. Couldn't stop laughing. It sucks this will only be 18 episodes.. I can't wait to see the rest. I hope it's as good as Eastbound.
