Civil War 2: Gods of War #2
I realize I should have read the Hercules run before this, because I didn't feel the first issue, but I dug this one. This'll be fun.

Civil War 2 #4
Can we just chat about this for a bit? Just a wee bit? I have some opinions that need sharing.

So I can see why Carol might be behaving a bit more aggressive and irrational and over the top on this. Considering that at this point: her boyfriend's dead, so she's obviously in a very emotional state and has been the entire time. Because of Thanos, her boyfriend was murdered and one of her best friends was rendered comatose. Then her best friend wakes up, and she has to say, "your cousin was murdered by a close ally whi was tried and deemed innocent." So now, both situations were technically correct: Thanos was about to get a Cosmic Cube and Banner was about to go Hulk. So despite both situations going out of control (She didn't contain Thanos as well as she wanted to and Clint killed Banner completely out of nowhere and most certainly not under her orders) and winding up with close allies and friends either dead or hurt intensively (even Clint's image and personal relationships are heavily damaged and he certainly feels and believes he is guilty based on the fact that he turned himself in).

So now Stark approaches everyone with the exact nature of Ulysses' powers and they all look at her going, "well maybe this is a bad idea." Of course, she's massively on edge. At this point she's on a tight rope: on the one hand a murderer, on the other a savior. So what does she do? Doubles down. If she has total control of a scenario, then nothing can go wrong and since Ulysses has been technically[/u] right so far, all she has to do is contain the unknowns. Explains why she goes so far with the banker. Then Tony, her biggest detractor shows up with the guns at her door, and she's retaliating in force. It doesn't seem so far-fetched at that point.

Here's my problem with the issue: the idea that any mutant is on her side, unless it's Old Man Logan, is baffling. They know how fucked and malleable time can be. Fucking Canle, Rachel Summers, and the O5 are running the fuck around right now. Oh, and Tempus saved the planet about eight months ago. You know, a mutant. But it's especially baffling if it's JEAN GREY OR MAGIK. And people can say "Bendis continuity hurrhurr" in relation to Magik who is currently dealing with destiny problems --
Sapna is predicted to go evil and wipe out the world using demons
. But Jean?! Bendis wrote the Trial of Jean Grey for fucks' sake! A story where she literally goes "fuck the future! I'm the future now! You genocidal fucks!" Why is she on Carol's side!?

Regardless it was a good issue. Good event so far. Staying strong. How many issues is it supposed to be? 6 seems too short. 7? 8?

In the X-Men tie-in Storm is using the predictions to protect mutants and wants to work with the Inhumans while Magneto is against it.

So Civil War takes the real history of police oppression of blacks in the US and turns it into a story about how two elite whites feel about their jobs.

Which is such dead-on satire of mainstream media that it can't possibly be intentional.

Well Howard the Duck #11 is officially the last issue, RIP. I read the #0 trade (pre-ANAD) earlier this year and it was fantastic, need to catch up on the current stuff. I hope they collect 1-11 in one book so I can avoid the filler they'll inevitably put in the second trade.

Why would there be filler? Two trades one 5 issues and one with 6.

Flicking through stuff on Comixology and I forgot about All-New X-Factor. The issue where Polaris, Scarlet Witch and Danger go to a Renaissance Fair and they make Danger wear a cloak so she doesn't stand out. It isn't referenced at all anywhere in the issue (I'm sure that was deliberate on Peter David's part) that she looks exactly like Dr Doom.

I thought the twins weren't magneto kids anymore, also Danger is related to them?

Transformers: Titans Return
Uhhhhhhhhhh did they seriously
kill off Aurlion? Just like that? Come on Barber...
But daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang
Sentinel Prime was a Headmaster all along, that or he was turned into one

EDIT:
Transformers More than Meets the Eye #55
Man
That is one divisive conclusion
but I liked it
RIP
Skids and Ravage though T_T
Also the DJD
I like that Overlord knew when to bail the fuck out though

Finally took an axe to my reading list, and this is all that's left.

Captain America: Sam Wilson
Captain America: Steve Rogers
The Mighty Thor
Spider-Woman
The Unworthy Thor

I wanted to cut it down as much as possible so I can free up time and money to read older/completed runs, and to save money by waiting on sales for any current books I can stand to do that with.

Every Image book got dropped immediately because they have great sales so frequently. I can come pretty close to being current on those by sale-waiting and save enormous amounts of money.

The DC stuff was easy to leave off because I haven't even tried any Rebirth books (except Wonder Woman) yet, so I don't even know what I'm missing. Plus, a lot of the older books I'm trying to focus on at this time are DC, so I'm covered with those characters.

Note: I left The Vision off because it's almost over. I didn't drop it.

I need to catch up on MTMTE

Do it man
The recent story arcs have been stellar.
This latest one is divisive, let me warn you now, at least its conclusion. It does however have some great moments here and there. I think #53 was my fav. That or #52 :p

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?

What keeps putting me off is I can never tell who anyone is. Majority of the characters are new to me

Hmm want me to provide a reading order?
The thing about the comic is the writing and characterization, by reading the comic you well..KNOW who the characters are.
Roberts manages to give each character his or her own personality and quirks.

Same here. I think I only read the first volume. >_<

It gets better and better, but it helps to first read Chaos Theory and Last Stand of the Wreckers since they are mentioned in later stories.

yeah I'm learning who they are, just at times I'll look at the page and think "who the hell is this?"

Only when they mention the name do I realize

That feeling when you finish Vol 1 of Birthright and you say to yourself. 'I wonder when Vol 2 is out'! and you find out 2-3 are out already and 4 is out soon. Dat under the radar release schedule

What's it about mate? Might give it a read

Boy playing catch with his dad runs into a forrest and goes missing. Family's life falls apart as they are accused of killing him ect. Appears a year later as a fully grown Thor like hero.

Great book

Sounds ace. Vol 1 available on Comixology?

Yup. It's an image/skybound book

Go for it Lashley. It's awesome!

Glad to see you are enjoying it Messi.

Red Hood & the Outlaws Rebirth: A good surprise. Whatever the last Lobdell book I read was, I remember hating it with a passion and I've never particularly cared about Jason Todd since his return either. I like the angle they're taking with this character and this could be a good series. Very good art as well. 3/5

Titans #1: Better than expected after the terrible Rebirth issue. Brett Booth's 90s Image art still ruins the book unfortunately but I like that Abnett is actually adressing the Rebirth mystery. And the Titans' interactions with each other are fun, they do feel like old friends. I didn't really understand the train of thought that lead them to track down Mr. Twister though, that was confusing. 2.5/5

Nightwing #1: This one was a little bit puzzling. I can see that this was a solid issue but with so many Bat books it felt a little too familiar. It doesn't really have much of a hook for me so far and the Court of Owls stuff feels redundant at this point. I'll give it another issue. 2.5/5

With Red Hood being a lot better than I thought, I'm going to have some tough decisions to make in the coming weeks because I'm gonna need to stop following a lot of books. I wanted to give every Rebirth series a shot but I didn't expect that I would end up liking so many of them. With New 52, I read almost every first issue and a few months in that number was down to between 5 and 10 books a month from DC. Now, it's feels like the same number per week.

Good guy Magneto is still a profoundly dumb idea.
In what way? Magneto fighting for mutantkind is better than Saturday morning supervillain.
Duly noted. I was hoping there wouldn't be a drop off but I'll enjoy what I can.

Dude, these first couple of issues look amazing. The pencils, colors, everything.
Blame Forever Evil, because that's when the drop off happens. But also blame DeMatteis, because he's the writer. And he's on it for the remaining 4 volumes after that.
So it's about dudes who aren't Dick Grayson?

Why does there listing for the Harbinger deluxe edition list the exact same books as the Harbinger Wars deluxe edition? Both say they contain issues #1-14 of Harbinger when you look at them on Comixology. Typo? Are there even 14 issues of Harbinger Wars?

Since it's also Simone's birthday she's getting some art from fans and friends. Here's Walter Geovani's present:

Good lord it would be nice if he was doing interiors. What is the over and under on this book turning out good. I never heard anything positive about the new 52 stuff.
The Seeley issues(#17 to the end where the Rebirth team does the final issue)have been pretty great. Wish he would keep doing the book in Rebirth.

New 52 wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either. It was decent fun for the first few volumes and then quickly dropped off. I dropped New Suicide Squad after the first arc.. It was just not good.

All I know is that I'm not picking it up.
