No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Yup. Huge update 2 will add multiplayer functionality and the ability to fix all initial complaints. It's truly a great update.

Thanks...that was great...

Good one.

Well, saw how a black hole functions on twitch just now. Freaking cool, dude traveled 33733 light years by entering it. Music was giving it a Star Fox vibe almost.

I like the sound of that vibe!

You're going to be real disappointed if you think they are working on an algorithm that calculates every single randomly generated planets randomly generated rotation and axis.

And you will be disappointed if I'm right :)

That is alot of assumptions.

No, only hope.

There are other games that have done it since 1990s (i.e Frontier: Elite II that you could land on), it's not very difficult to do if you generate planetary systems appropriately from the start (i.e not just a scatter of static random planets). I've programmed it myself too for university although you couldn't seamlessly land on planets, I had to program randomly generated planetary systems that were scaled and accurate.

Elite: Dangerous and the free game Space Engine has procedurally generated planets/systems and they all move in real time (you can speed it up if you want). The sunsets/sunrises are appropriate for its stars, so some that have binary systems you will see two shadows even For example, here's a video of a timelapse in Space Engine.

This.

Exactly this.

I earnestly can't tell if this is optimism or sarcasm.

Optimism :)

This guys planet is mad. Pretty sure he doesnt need to use life support, or its at the lowest possible rate of loss.

Hnnnng. That planet he is on.. mah gawd.. lawd have mercy on me. Pls.

It's looking more and more like we've been molyneuxed.

Didn't someone who has the game say they watched planets rotate on their axis and rotate around the star?

I don't know how they've managed it unless the different sized planets are programmed to rotate at a particular speed that allows the same time for daylight?

I wonder if the patch will make it more unlikely to find lush worlds.

I think the most fantastic thing about the game is that there's huge potential for Hello Games to keep on improving/tweaking/introducing new things.

I mean, they have a universe to play with.

In regards to the beacons, from what I understand it is that you still need to activate them before you can actually upload your discoveries. But once done it doesn't auto-upload them and instead you have to do it manually in the menu.

I believe the reason this is done so that it guides you to the menu and you can look at all the things you've discovered.

I could be totally wrong though.

Something im still unsure about is if you can "steal" another NPC's ship, like shoot it out of the sky if its in the planet you are exploring.

No, it'll just blow up. You can find crashed ships and salvage them if you follow distress calls from installations, though. You have to do a lot of repair work, but they're free.

Is the ship levels increasing only by buying ships still confirmed to be true?
As in you have to buy a slightly better ship to get to the next tier etc.

It appears so, I've watched a lot of stream and this mechanic seems to be a constant. It works this way with wrecked ships and multitools too.

Is the structure of the beginning the same for each player?

Structure of having broken ship next to you and you need to repair it in order to continue your travels? Yeah it is same for everyone. What we don't know yet is if pre-order bonus ships start as broken or fixed.

Come on and reset those servers dammit, I can't progress due to a glitched out station and need to see more galaxies.

I think 234 kg is the heaviest weight for a creature I've seen in the screenshots -- even though it doesn't seem to match the actual size (Should be several tons), could this mean that it's the biggest the creatures can get?

I also think that I've seen 234 kg for more than 1 of the creatures -- or, at least in the 230 kg range.

FWIW I don't think they're going to add it in NMS but it is possible in games.

I was going to mention Elite. Not that it's a big negative for NMS, but it's not some insane unachievable thing. The too scale nature for everything in Elite is something that I really appreciate but NMS isn't really going for that.

The patch isnt out until tomorrow anyway so anything you have will be deleted, might as well wait and restart

That's what I plan to do, I can't wait to restart.

I've found bigger than 234 kg.
