NO Man's Sky Photo Thread ¯\_()_/¯

How big are the planets? Are they asteroid-sized playgrounds, or does it take you hours to walk around the circumference?

There's a lot of debate on that but the larger ones seem to be about 250 kilometers in diameter, so large asteroid size.

It would take days to walk around some of the planets.

This is the screenshot thread. Take this to the OT or Review thread, please.
Wait...what? I can't give feedback on the screenshots I have seen in a screenshot thread. Hahaha lol...Tell me this if I said yes this looks great fantastic artwork loving the look of this game would you still have sent out this msg? Likely not I think. I will post impressions of a screenshot in a screenshot thread as many times I want so go and do one

This is the screenshot thread. There are a dozen let's talk about No Man's Sky threads on GAF at the moment.

I created this thread specifically for players to share screenshots. I don't care if you're praising or hating the game, but this is a screenshot thread. Not that many people have the game at the moment, so I understand the desire to want to talk about it, but again, there are already a few active threads already for discussing the game, specifically.

EDIT: Also, fucking chill with the hostility. It's not warranted or appreciated. Re-fucking-lax.

EDIT 2: And your comments on the screenshots are hardly constructive or respectful of the post. Saying it looks like "dog turd" isn't a worthy critique. Read the thread rules. Use your big boy words, and say something a little more constructive than "looks like dog turd." There's a way to criticize something negatively (and positively) without resorting to that.

U lot are easily pleased but let's be honest this game looks like dog turd all the planets look the same but with a different coat of paint. There are no cities, no bridges nor even mountain ranges just big hills, small hills, water and more hills a sad by-product of procedural generation I'm afraid
Lol. I love how you're literally making things up. This game, like nearly every other game in existence can produce some bad looking shots. The game looks really great overall, but yes, there are some rough patches.

If you've actually been looking at some of the screens posted in the other threads, and the stream footage, you'd know that planets can vary quite wildly. I've seen buildings/structures, floating islands, huge mountain ranges, and more.

I'm really not sure why I even replied to this pitiful attempt of a troll post.

You should probably add "clueless" into your username!

Before or after "grumpy" works fine :)

Great thread, Figboy. I think most of these rules should be copied to the OT as well, just so everyone is clear about the spoiler conventions for this game.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You are not prepared for the PC version.

I wonder how tough it will be for people to accept that they will likely never ever see the places and things posted in this thread

Precisely the reason why I came to the screenshot thread. I won't ever see anything that's posted here. Plus I have to wait an extra few days for the PC version.

Thank you! I wasn't sure how to handle the spoiler stuff, but I figured sharing planets/creatures is fair game, but lore details and stuff like that should probably be spoiler tagged, or better, for mobile browsers (I browse GAF on my cell quite a bit, actually), to link to galleries with any potential spoiler images.

My aim for this thread was for people to share their discoveries outside of the game itself. There are 18 quintillion planets. The odds of us ever actually setting foot on each other's worlds is comically slim, so the best way for us to actually see hundreds/thousands of planets will be threads like this.

Seriously. If this is as CPU focused as I think it is, then the downsampling is going to be epic.

I have an i7 6700k so it would look great on my PC if I had more than an integrated gpu :p.

Seriously though, I'll likely pick this up on PC next year when it's cheap, but for now I need them trophies!

he'll get shit on but the procedural generation thing was definitely a concern when this game was announced

hopefully there is variety

Are you sure? Don't they rotate and actually travel around a sun? Or just rotate?

Honestly I haven't stopped to see if they do but I didn't get the sense that they move, there are day and night cycles but I'm not sure it's in relation to the sun.

Well they do rotate, they just slowed it down (in the patch), that is why testers were losing where the Space Stations where (pre-patch), not accounting for rotation, and they thought it was a bug.

But I could have sworn someone mentioned that orbit the sun, but maybe I am misremembering.

We know there is variety.

Of course, if by that you mean "cities, underwater civilizations, alien abductions, underground secret societies, beer dispensers, real-time-darwinistic evolution, procedural enthropy calculator (?), meme generators, multiplayer lobbies, bowling alleys, bbq parties, drugs, terrorists and hookers" then you'd certainly be disappointed.

I remember hearing they orbit the sun too.

However in screenshots none of the planets are ever on the opposite side of the sun so if they do orbit, they orbit as a pack.

And so he should for such unconstructive post's..
even being offended by people calling him out..

It's like when people envoke there freedom of speech (as he did in a later post) and then get angry when other people do the same.. Lol

I'm almost pleased that the PC version got delayed since I have to work all week. I'm thinking my rig should be able to run this at 4K pretty easy.

Why is the dude in the title shrugging? He should quit that shit and go snap some snappy snaps for us. ¯\_(ツ)_/[¯ᴑᵒ ]

Since everybody starts in their own unique location. The first screen shot should be your starting point 1 pic in the front and then you do a 180 and take another pic.

Yeah. Good idea. Everyone should take a screen like this. And label it "birth place screen" so people know of its context.

Based on what?

I've seen speculations like this many times before, and I've even tried arguing (and got no convincing answers and much less evidence for these "measurements").

Official word is that planets are "planet-sized".

It doesn't change anything from a gameplay perspective, I'm just interested in it as "science" xD

What is Ansel?

Ansel is a screenshot-taking suite that is integrated into Nvidia GTX 1080 cards that allows you a range of screenshot taking options and tools in supported games. It can do tonal adjustments, vignettes, panoramas, and even VR-ready environment spheres. Probably one of the nicest features is that it can pause the game and let you move the camera wherever you want.

Or it takes a large amount of time to notice the difference, lol. But yeah, probably a pack, and not their whole orbit.

I am sure some crazy explorer will sit there and chart it all for months, lol.
