By the time the Splatoon finals happen the NX will be unveiled and probably already released. People will know what it is by the time the Splatoon finals happen. Y'all can stop freaking out now.

Usually you know the prizes at the beginning of a competition, not just on the final day. In decent competitions at least. And the participation in a competition is supposed to be motivated also by the prizes.

But sure, act like this thing is normal.

How the hell are you supposed to be hyped for something they have put absolutely no effort in promoting?

Reveal the damned console Nintendo, THEN start thinking about giving it away.
Your imagination often exceeds the real thing. Plenty of people are hyped for NX. Plenty of people was hyped for Project cafe / Durango etc as well.

If you're in a Splatoon tournament the promise of a new Nintendo console, whatever it may be, is probably incentive enough. Regardless if it's normal it's nothing to be concerned about.

If the interest displayed in this thread is an indicator for motivation, they are good.

It's not normal, but it doesn't deserve a freakout. It's a new Nintendo console, and for a solid chunk of people, that's enough information to be interested.

But what if the Splatoon players involved have zero interest in the next Nintendo console that Spat2n is inevitably going to be on????? Utterly ridiculous and unthinkably disgusting.

So if I'm reading this right, the tournament will be a monthly thing from October till March. The NX being a price for the month it releases wouldn't be that weird I guess? Unless it gets delayed again, lol

I hope they show something of that thing at the TGS next week...

The way things are going I would not bet on it.

Seems Nintendo just started increasing the intensity of the NX drum rolls

Hitting one drum with one drumstick is not a drumroll.

Depending on when Splatoon finals are, it seems like Nintendo is still pretty confident in hitting March or at least the first half of 2017 going by this news.

Are we saying that a Splatoon team, subscirbed to a Splatoon eSport European tournament, isn't EXCITED about being able to win a Nintendo NX?
Are we saying that if GAF members subscirbed to My Nintendo would receive an email saying to be selected among the afcionados subscribed to the service as a Nintendo NX ambassador winner with a Nintendo NX as prize, they wouldn't be super happy about that?
What are we talking about?
the fact that NX isn't unveiled yet is just an additional reason to be hyped thinking about the chance of being able to win one.

It is part of the hype-building, PR strategy.
Nintendo NX was already set as a prize for another Nintendo initiative (don't remember which one)

Are we saying that having a NX as a prize isn't enough to make a contest memorable? Amazing? Incredible?

What are we talking about?

LOL
I imagine how GAF would react to a contest where Sony would gift a PS4 Neo as a gift.
Obviously asinine, right?

And I remember NX being a prize for that tournament. I'd say that THAT was the news, not the contest, so it just confirm my point.

You know how Stephen King said there's "nothing so frightening as what's behind the closed door"? This is like that, but replace "frightening" with "intriguing".

The reveal is bound to be as anticlimactic, in any case.

I'm sure what's your point anymore or if you understood my point in the initial post. Anyhow, saying that you must be EXCITED about NX without knowing for sure what it is and what are the games for it it's a bit over the top, really.

You're getting a new console from the greatest gaming company around.

They should offer a Wii U as prize, it will be equally exciting.

What a shitty prize. You generally want to know what you're playing for before you win, not after.

I bet if it were the Neo, people would of reacted quite the opposite.

Seriously though you're playing Splatoon which is on a Nintendo console. By winning you're getting a brand new Nintendo system. There's an incentive in being in the contest.
